I just want to make it clear that I’m not promoting finasteride. I think when it comes to taking it you’re playing a game of Russian roulette and the side effects will largely be down to the individual. Some people will experience minimal sides, others will experience the worst of the worst. Take with caution.

Great video Mike, i really appreciate how open and candid you are about your procedure and personal experience. People like you making videos like this remove the stigma associated with men having any form of procedure to enhance their looks. It always bugs me that women can dye their hair, wear high heels, get breast implants, wear foundation to hide bad skin, where other make up to almost transform their faces, yet if a man does something he's not being masculine. Frankly it's BS. You look great with it.

    Hey Mike,
I would like to share my situation concerning Finasteride.
I went on Finasteride for a little over 3 years straight. At one point I lost practically all desire to have sex. I didn’t have any problems with obtaining or maintaining an erection at all but my interest level to have sex with someone or even alone wasn’t happening at all.
My whole life I have always had a very active healthy sex drive and interest as well as an active healthy sex life! Finasteride literally shut it down!
When I realized this was happening I became terrified. I had my testosterone levels checked and they were a bit on the lower end of the normal range which scared me even more. After A year of not taking Finasteride my desire for sex still hadn’t returned.
I went on TRT and my libido and sex drive came back “somewhat” but not anything like it used to be.
Even though there can be negative side effects with medicines, most all of us never think it will happen to me. Well it did happen and it was awful and is still not back to its normal self. I can tell you that I would rather be skin bald then to lose my sex drive or interest for sex. Imagine not caring at all about having sex with your partner or remotely giving to thoughts about an attractive female that you just came in contact with. Imagine never having a desire to watch porn or literally any of it. No masturbation, nothing.
It’s not a good feeling and it’s not at all healthy.
And even a bigger issue, they don’t really know why it happens and they don’t know how to fix it. And if the doctor tells you any side effects will stop the moment you stop taking it, I am living proof that is not the case for everyone.
I am hoping it will fully return back to how it was before I started taking Finasteride. It’s not there yet and it has been almost two years now. I feel like I am 50 percent of the way there..
As uncomfortable as it is to talk about it publicly, I feel the need to tell as many people as I can that I would not in any way take Finasteride EVER! The risk is just too great!!!
Hope what I just expressed helps.
    ☮️😊💪🏼

I'm just uniquely bald at my young age and colleagues love to benignly joke about it, not realizing how much I used to care a couple of years ago. You just get used to it. Sure, I don't get the same looks from girls as I used to be very handsome and vain as a result. I just focus on being masculine and a good provider now rather than being "pretty".

If you end up growing your hair out again it also makes styling with wax/clay way easier too. Also my finasteride experience is really similar to yours, here's hoping they come out with topical sometime soon!

To echo the majority of the other comments below, what a fantastic video Mike!
In all my 10 years of personal involvement in hair loss and transplants, I’ve yet to see it spoken about with such clarity and honesty.
Many key points were expertly covered and hopefully it can help others with the confidence to take the leap and seriously consider visiting a reputable surgeon a transplant.
It was great to hear you weren’t over harvested and looked after well in a UK clinic.
Good luck with your continued success.
Ps. On the crown, with its lesser blood flow, you will gain results a little later so give it 12-14 months.
    Top work.

See how you feel on finasteride in a couple of years. It was great for my hair loss but after 7 years it had a big effect on my life in a negative way. 2 years off it and I feel 10x better. But my hair loss has started again.
I also have really high SHBG which I'm positive is as a result of taking finasteride. .. I take boron daily which helps lower it a bit.

ive always hated my hair and then 10 years ago when i was 22, it started falling out at a fast pace. i panicked for a short while and tried combing it to "hide the bald spots" until i had enough and shaved it all off. best choice i ever made with my hair. from that day on people started to tell me that i look good and i started getting quite some more attention from the ladies. some people are better off without hair, sometimes a negative turns into positive

This just shows me that everybody has something they're working on to try and improve themselves. Mike Thurston is a beautiful man, but his hairline is an area of concern for him. It oddly makes me feel better knowing that we all have things we'd like to change about ourselves. I hope he has success. But if it doesn't work out, remember that bald is sexy too!

For anyone who think they may be starting to lose hair, or their hair is thinning: I highly recommend you stop shampooing as much as you do. Once a week is fine (shampoo, conditioner and a good hair oil). I personally really noticed my hair looking thicker and healthier after a few weeks. Even my barber noticed without me telling him.
If you already don't shampoo much, then godspeed.

Mike, pls look this up. You’re not supposed to derma roll daily/ I’d advise weekly and most importantly. You shouldn’t be applying minoxidil right after. U need to leave 24 hrs if not the medication can get into your blood stream. Which u want to avoid. Now if u really want to put something into your scalp, try peppermint oil along with a carrier ie coconut oil or castor oil
