Thats me on bass. Playing with Fred in Afghanistan will always be my favorite memories of my time in the ADF. Watching this brings back lots of great memories, but also fills me with heavy emotion. Thanks Fred, love ya bud
So many Diggers I know ...... look just like the guys in this clip. Tired before their years ... tired before their time ...... tired right deep inside their eyes .... and souls. Very sad, but living a Good Life is Pain.....Life is struggle ..... "anyone who says anything different is selling something" (Princesss Bride) ........ "All that is necessary for evil to triumph is for Good Men to do nothing " E. Burke ......... these Diggers have given nearly all, some have given all. I hope all Australians, especially her muslims, acknowledge and respect their sacrifice ..... Let's not have the "Nam Vets all over again ... please . Out.
As usual, you nailed it! I feel out of step with the civilian world after my year in Uruzgon province in 2006-2007. Loved working with the Australian SAS and diggers. God bless you for giving voice to our shared feelings and experiences. SSG Bisbee US Army ETT Mentor 1st Kandak/205th BDE
G'day cob. If you see this comment I'd love to have a private chat about your experiences. I'm no journo or anything, I just would like to hear your story and experience in Afghanistan. I currently work fifo as a driller but I have zero exposure to any serving soldier current or past and I am keen to hear your stories and perspective on the conflict. Cheers mate
Beautiful songs, love your music, you make me cry with your songs and the heartfelt words that you sing, you can also make me laugh, just never know what to expect. Thanks Fred for sharing your stories and giving voice so we can all learn and share what these guys go through everyday.
13 years now at "home" & still struggling severe much. Thankyou Fred Smith, never truer words have been spoken. Keep uptake brilliant work, your book & CD have educated many people to what we did & do experience both on deployment & afterwards, life as a "civi".All the best & keeps-the great work, Duty First
I am working in trauma treatment. I believe that there are treatments that can be used to treat your conditions. They have been very helpful in my healing.
Jeez that's excellent !! Better than I thought it would be. Tremendous ! Your book is excellent too. "The dust of Uruzgan", nearly finished it ! I thought you would be an excellent diplomat and author, and an amateur singer / songwriter, but you are professional level there too mate! No wonder John Schumann was highly impressed with 'Dust of Uruzgan' - (song).
