It’s an automated system. The county where my dad works the EMS dispatcher for all public ambulance services use an automated system and it does it on the MDTS in the EMS rigs where my dad works. It’s freaky.
SFD is also one of the few cities that show their calls in real-time on the dept web site. Combine that with the live scanner from KOMO news and you can listen in and follow all the action.
That fan is a Mobile Ventilation Unit, Chicago has 2 & is used to clear bldgs of heavy smoke & can also be used as a mister to cool people during large events, There is video of the Chicago unit at work on here somewhere.
Love to see my hometown. I'll take more form Seattle fire anytime. FYI, for the comments below, all Seattle trucks are tillers. They love them and that's all they use. They are super maneuverable. I wish my truck was a tiller, but we don't use too many in the Phoenix area anymore.
+Benito Gonzales How come you don't have a ID? or are you under age 16? But to answer your question, when I did community service many years ago, I did not need ID. Just filled out a few papers that pretty much said the fire dept is not responsible for any injury or death. But I did this as community service, doubt any dept will let you ride along just cause you want to. Best of luck
hell yeah i agree, i only ask, because in england the emergency vehicle drivers do it most of the time, but in england its only courtesy to move out of the way, there is no law requiring you to allow them to pass, which in my eyes is wrong, i dont know if there is a particular law in the usa or in any state that makes it mandatory to move out of the way,,
Infelizmente o corpo de bombeiros no Brasil em especial no Rio de janeiro, não tem a mesma estrutura do que nos EUA, aqui essa instituição militar está abandonada a anos,o comunismo está acabando com todas as esferas do país.
I have two questions, maybe someone can give me an answer: 1. Why are they wearing Headphones while driving? Is that EngineSound so much louder than Trucks in Germany? 2. I´m interested in that "TabletPC" were the CoDrive works on. Can someone tell me a Name of that so i can search in RUclips for that? Thanks !!
Why firefighters where headphones inside the apparatus well its not just a headphone its for communication with each other and the distpatch while there inside the apparatus and other responding unites.so you're emergency first responders in Europe probably use handheld devices to communicate with there dispatch just like we use to do here in United States.but now our communication radio we use now days are digital vhs uhs 800mhz system.
The city of Seattle is the only FD I've ever seen uses a 3 axle tractor for their tillers instead of a 2 axle, as most other FD's do. Is there any reason for that?
45 seconds, I didnt see completly, but was that Huge fan connected to a Hovercraft or was it something else???? really like those windows at the top of the truck.....
Andrew Silva Yeah it´s a fan, but on a Roller Container, there used for ventilation on Metro Stations/ Tunnels/ Basement Car Park / Hangars. Here in Europe we have a lot of Stuff on Roller Container like the Fan.
Dam Right lol no Static and No human f ups only wished my station had the automated dispatch lol then agine we have iamresponding which is useless some time
MIKECNW even though this is a year old. It was also be a hippa violation to show anything about a patient if they got one. So it's better to turn it off when you get on scene
Steve Giovanis I don't know if you're specifically talking about the Seattle fire department, but where I am from, anyone can do a ride along..all you need to do is go to which ever fire department you want to do a ride along with and fill out some paper work , wait until they do a background check, then they will call you and say whether you have been approved or not.
***** O.k it was my understanding, and perhaps incorrectly, that you had to be a member of another fire departement, or medic unit to do ride alongs with SFD/ Medic one
where´s the question? its self-evident that you drive out of way... you don't need to get a tumb up by the driver... the driver has more important things to focus on while driving...
No offense to the Truck LOL but don't you think the company needs to get better sirens (they are so dull) But Keep the Truck the Truck is BO$$ end where the FireMan Sit That is Some Leg Room LOL Congrats you got a Sub 😏
The truck has a Federal Sig. EQ2b 200 watt electronic siren with flush mounted (on the bumper) dual driver speaker. The speaker is highly directional so the majority of its sound is projecting forward. Thats why , in the cabin) it sounds(dull). The sound is generated using DSP; digital signal processing. This makes it possible to very closely sound like the traditional mechanical EQ2B. Most apparatus are now using the “e” version for reducing in cab hearing loss . The older mechanical is still being manufactured and commonly sold to Fire-Rescue services that want them. Hope this helps.
Nice Rig, Love your ride along videos! Anyone that sees this please check out my channel and comment on my videos what you'd like to see! Im making more Apparatus and Gear videos!
+Rick1885 Wrong. Completely wrong. You ALWAYS pull to the right, and stop. Say it with me. "Pull to the right, and stop". Not the left. Not the middle. Not stopping in place. You pull to the right, and stop. Why? Because ambulances and fire engines are trained to pass on the left. That's the safe side. If you pull to the left, you could pull in front of the truck, causing an accident. How do I know all this? I'm an EMT. I drive an ambulance every day.
Drivers that actually get out of the way, a rarity.
The dispatchers voice is the same voice here in Milwaukee.
Wow, she really gets around.
Same here over at Los Angeles City Fire Department! haha
But the seattle fire department had to push the button so hard to siren so loud so the people to get out of the way on I 5
It's the same lady here in Columbus, Ohio! Dam I wonder how many hours she has during a normal work week?? ;)
Same over here in NYC! She gets around!
It’s an automated system. The county where my dad works the EMS dispatcher for all public ambulance services use an automated system and it does it on the MDTS in the EMS rigs where my dad works. It’s freaky.
I love ride alongs! Wish you would do more!!

The truck is a BEAST!!!! Great video, keep up the great work:D
@ 4:25 I have never seen traffic move over like that ever, it was like parting the sea.
It is because of all the hills in and around the downtown core. So stations Ladders 1, 4, 10 tend to be three axle rigs.
Nice shot of the light bar!
pretty cool they just said that you could ride on the ladder
That fan is a Mobile Ventilation Unit, Chicago has 2 & is used to clear bldgs of heavy smoke & can also be used as a mister to cool people during large events, There is video of the Chicago unit at work on here somewhere.
Ah, my home city, which I miss dearly! Do more of these, please! :-)
Great video, not to shaky. And professional, careful driver. He might even go too slow at times ;)
My dad drives the tillered aerial truck in South Seattle, station 28 ladder 12
You should ask your dad to let you ride along and make a video
That's actually my dad driving the truck
how old do you have to be for a ride along?
Do more ride along in Seattle fire department
Does it EVER stop raining in Seattle?
The windshield wipers arent synchronized that drives me crazy 😂😂
Awesome video!!
MVU- Mobile Ventilation Unit. Essentially, a giant PPV fan on an isuzu type truck for pressurizing stairwells of large commercial structures.
Love to see my hometown. I'll take more form Seattle fire anytime. FYI, for the comments below, all Seattle trucks are tillers. They love them and that's all they use. They are super maneuverable. I wish my truck was a tiller, but we don't use too many in the Phoenix area anymore.
There aren't many but Columbus, Oh had a few & Niles, IL had one, it was a beauty.
Yes,in the USA you are required to pull over to the right as far as you safely can and stop to allow emergency vehicles to pass.
wooooow sooo cool ! echt geil Dirk !
RIP Matt Runte
Love those windows
Great video!!!
More ride alongs please!!!!!!
I love fire trucks
+Rick Carroll it call ladder truck
Love this video
Sehr geil!
THOSE WINDSHIELD WIPERS ARE MAKING MY OCD EXPLODE
That's not OCD that's autism.

Anyone know the particular engine that this truck had in it?
Believe this one is built by CAT. I can find out. My dad is the driver in this video.
Hi Dirk, what is the large fan on the vehicle around the 42 second mark ?
hell yeah i agree, i only ask, because in england the emergency vehicle drivers do it most of the time, but in england its only courtesy to move out of the way, there is no law requiring you to allow them to pass, which in my eyes is wrong, i dont know if there is a particular law in the usa or in any state that makes it mandatory to move out of the way,,
You just walk to the truck and then sit down XD
3 axle because the 105' steel ladder is heavy. My truck has an 85' steel ladder w/ a bucket... that's 25K # by itself.
Chris to answer your question about why 3 axle trucks nstaed
Infelizmente o corpo de bombeiros no Brasil em especial no Rio de janeiro, não tem a mesma estrutura do que nos EUA, aqui essa instituição militar está abandonada a anos,o comunismo está acabando com todas as esferas do país.
Cool!
Why they using MSA? Those Air Paks suck. My county uses Scott and they’re so much lighter.
@:41, what is that 'fan'? used for? ventilation?
yes, for tunnels and the like.
I have two questions, maybe someone can give me an answer:

+Himynameisjustis123 Thank you very much for your fast Answer :)
Very Nice Video
greatings from Germany ;-)
I like how the wipers are out of sync XD
+Drunkun_Munky Going to take a wild guess on this one and sasy the reason for that is Maybe the passenger can actualy control his own wiper
They could also be pneumatically powered which causes them to operate in a jerky, unsynchronized manner.

I thought its so they can tall with the trailer driver
@@G.amer.90 also that

Hey look at that..you were there the one day it was raining..how lucky are you? Lol
How long is the ladder on that thing?
Um, Code 3 went out of business like 2 years ago & yes that would have made a great model.
Manuel loudest loudest loudest loudest ever in the whole world universe

Dam Right lol no Static and No human f ups only wished my station had the automated dispatch lol then agine we have iamresponding which is useless some time
Alan Harvey how is there no human f ups with it? a human enters it into the system so im pretty sure there is still human f ups sometimes
I'm sure there is But Its a lot better, a lot louder and clearer
zman7331 i bet it is dude. just was saying there is still chance of human f ups thats all.
Yeah I understand what you meant.
Why couldn't you show wherever they were going to?
MIKECNW read the description
MIKECNW even though this is a year old. It was also be a hippa violation to show anything about a patient if they got one. So it's better to turn it off when you get on scene
windshield wipers are not synchronous
Yes, I can see how that is a major issue!
is it a 6 or 8 mans cab?
Normally 4 in this case 6.
how do you get those ride alongs?
You have to be associated with a fire department. Civilians cannot do ride alongs

Steve Giovanis I don't live in seattle, I am in California so you still may be correct about that
I love these seattle fire department there are the best
How do they get rid along
+Sotheath Kim you have to sign a ride along paper
That is the Sexist ladder truck I've ever seen, I just hope Code 3 Collectables pick up on that rig if they already hadn't!
where´s the question?
its self-evident that you drive out of way... you don't need to get a tumb up by the driver... the driver has more important things to focus on while driving...
The way the tones are in big cities are odd
You see something that big bearing down on you, you'd have to be an idiot not to move over.

da klappt es mit der Rettungsgasse
Why does the firefighters wear headphones if they are in the front seat of the fire engine?
To communicate with each other, dispatch and the tillerman
@@maxhallman1036 ok, thanks

what pulling over? that is the law unless you like paying a ticket
+Jerry Hutchens no pulling to the right, in front of a fire truck when they needed to move left.
