I'm a Marvel guy and have never read much DC, but I did just pick up Batman Knightfall omni vol 1 and cant wait to start reading it. Great video as always!
Love your "Every omnibus" videos! I highly recommend the Brave and the Bold omnibuses for Jim Aparo's artwork alone. As you can see, when he did his own inks and colors, his stuff rivaled Neal Adams. The later stories in B&B Omni vol 2 show how having others do the inking and colors screwed up his style.
As a kid I had spent so much time and money buying the DC chronicles trades. Now knowing these exist, I realize how superior they are in how much ground they cover in one volume
The Neal Adams one made me cry. I sat on that waiting list for 2 years and when it released I was mortified at the horrible digital re-coloring. I knew they had done that with the smaller hardcover volumes, but something made me hope the omnibus would be "pure." And wow, it wasn't. Re-coloring Neal Adams, even if Neal does it himself, should be illegal. It's like George Lucas screwing with the better original versions of Star Wars...
I'm praying that when we get to Adams in the Bronze Age Batman omnis (if we ever get that far!) they use the original art (like they have done in the Brave & the Bold omnis)
The thing I love about these golden age, silver age, bronze age. The art looks so classic, done with pencil and real color, not done digitally. I love old school art and color.
Jordy If you’ve grown up with more modern comics, it can be very difficult to read Golden Age, even Silver Age comics. They were totally different then. Those comics weren’t made with collective or continuity-based storytelling in mind, they were designed to be cheap pamphlets that could be read and then tossed away. They wanted to make sure that it was worth it, so there was tons of text, and multiple stories told within each issue. It’s entirely different from what we had starting from the 70s, especially from the 90s onward. All I’ll say is that I’m writing my MA thesis on Dick Grayson (so of course Batman is heavily involved) and I have tried to look at Golden/Silver Age books for it, and it’s awful. I just can’t do it. I respect them, and I respect what they did, but I don’t like them at all.
@@SSJFutureGohan62093 I just got into buying comics this year (I'm 25 rn) and started buying some golden and silver age facsimile comics, and just my opinion I like comics to have a good amount of text so they can last me more while I read them. Hi you should do a video with all the Dc omnibuses from the golden, silver and bronze age and also say how much we have to spend to get the full collection.
Gotham Central is in my top 3 omnibuses. You have to read it. It's about Gotham and Batman only appears in the background. It's about how common people live in a world of superheroes.

I knew the song was about a guy obsessed with Batman, but I never really understood why the number "27" was part of the song. *The more you know...* I haven't thought about that song in a long time.
