How do you know which direction the cable should attach? Ie. Should the writing on the connector be up or down?

To those who were swapping the motherboard but had to watch this video to figure out where they went, always check your manual. Number one tip for new builders there
100% agreed, but sadly its one of the most overlooked things and no mater how many times you say that, they won't look but I am always here to help when they have issues or questions.
This is not a joke, My daughter and I finished our first build together. No more than a minute or two this short popped up. I walked over, unplugged them all, and plugged them all back in properly. I legit bought a zoom lens for this, those things are so fkin tiny it's insane.
before I got covid, I used to be able to see these easily, now... uggg, I have to strain to see them, I take pics with my cell phone and zoom them, crazy small
I pulled out the plug thinking it was the graphics card. Then I couldnt find how to fix it. Tysm for making this it helped me sooo much.

What helps me now, is I take a pic with my cell phone then I zoom in.

Mine didn't come with a reset cable or speaker as far as I see. I have a ASRock b650m pro rs wifi mobo and a Apevia prism case.
Though the case did come with a power led - and +, a power line and the hdd line and that's all.
Also still not sure if I plugged in everything correctly still need to find a video for that all of it is just confusing for me!

Don't worry about the connections your case and board don't have, since they don't have them.

Yeah it's 2 different cases i disassembled the Dell Optiplex 5040 and put those parts in a Musetex
case

But mine is a dell optiplex 5040 it doesn’t say led plus or minus what do I do?
You're right,yours does not because it's a pre built, this is for custom built PCs. If you go to dells support site, enter your service code, there will be a section there where you can find documentation for your system and it will be in there, I believe called repair guides. The other thing you could do is just try one way, if it doesnt work, try the other, there's nothing there that will harm your pc.

Well that's great but I have the B650M and none of the ports are named that so I don't know where to plug them
Have you checked the manual, if you don't have a physical copy, it's in the manufactured support site and you can use your phone to see it. One answer doesn't always fit all.

if your case has buttons and LED's it has the connectors unless you ripped them off, which happens
every case has them, unless they were ripped out.
