  • In this video I show you how to easily and properly connect your front panel cables AKA your F_PANEL connectors to your motherboard. This take a bit of patience but overall is not a hard thing to do if you have your motherboards manual. I always use my manual for this because it takes out much of the guess work and makes my life easier. Thanks so much for watching 🙏💯

    Thank you for the amazingly simple video. Was adding a hard drive to my desktop but the SATA port was under my graphics card. Didn’t want to bother removing it so I poked around in the process removing the connectors. Ended up taking out my graphics card and trying to put the connectors back. It was hard to read the labels and I couldn’t find my manual. Your video saved me. Much better than the other videos that tell you to just check the manual

      I feel your pain. I just put together a PC for my wife and there was no documentation in the box that showed the location or pin outs of any of the connectors on the mobo. Not too much of a problem for an experienced person but imo it's sloppy. So I knew where the front panel connector was but forgot which pin was what. RUclips to the rescue...

    Funny I've been building PCs since the 90s, but after getting myself a new Lian Li 011D Evo, I kept looking for the usual connectors and was not able to locate them. Then I saw one connector with a bunch of wires named F_Panel...I looked and lo behold! The pattern matches the pinout configuration on my motherboard. Wo-lah!!! A first for me! Of all the cases I've bought up to this point, they all came with individual connectors...I thought this case has some MIA parts! I was about to return it back to MicroCenter.

      @@BuildsWithV Love the video, its the small things that make a big difference. To clarify, the LED's have a +/- because they're Diodes (Light Emitting Diodes) and current only flows one way through them. So they have to be hooked up correctly for them to work. The Power and Reset switches would work either way, but there are considerations of what side of the switch is hot and it's best to be safe and hook them up as directed. A good rule of thumb is that the writing on the connectors should all face the same direction, in this case all facing to the edge of the motherboard. Not that those singles wont go in either way but it looks better and you won't have to remove them to see what they are. Rock on Brother.
      P.S. There's a reason for the saying "RTFM" lol. For those that don't know, it means Read The F______ Manual. A bit crass but a good idea. Thanks for making that a focus.

    Do I need to connect anything from the case to the power supply for the front panel to work?

    • @BuildsWithV
      @BuildsWithV  2 года назад

      Typically no but some cases have specific hub for fans or rgbs that require either sata or molex connectors to the PSU. Depends on the case but even then, those may not need to be connected to the PSU in order for the front panel to work.

      My motherboard is a gigabyte b660m ds3h which is not the original board that came with the prebuilt office case.

      it would be helpful if i knew exactly what each front panel cord did and where it plugs in to.

      I’ll be honest with you, I’ve never connected a SD port to any of my PCs so I have no ideas. I’m sure someone has some info on RUclips but I just don’t have any experience with it.

      @@realredrobot oh that’s unfortunate 😅 what I’d do is look at the connector and then look on your motherboard for a same connector or similar and then look up the user manual for the motherboard and see if you can find what that connector on the motherboard is for.
