Look at this as a blessing. I remember dating a man who talked about spiritual marriage when I talked about a REAL marriage. I then researched how much work it is to set-up documents so I'd be covered. It is so much to think about and do when I can just be married. Automatically, I am entitled to everything because we are married. He legally has to cover me and, of course, spiritually under God.

Protect them from the wicked schemes of the evil one and bind them closer together each day. Protect their children Lord and let them grow up to be great mouthpieces for Your kingdom. I have not experienced this because when I started dating my now husband(legal) I told him on the first date I wanted normal legal marriage and it was non-negotiable and intimacy was off the table until we were married. We were engaged and legally married within a year of our first date. As women if we raise the bar, men will meet it. If we let them get away with "Spiritual Marriage" thats what they will do.

I like that Bindi and Cam stated that ancient biblical marriage was *LEGAL marriage.* That is because ancient Israel was a theocracy _[a system of government in which priests rule in the name of God or a god.]_ We are not under a devine government but are under a secular government.
How can you claim a _spiritual marriage_ when God does not rule your nation, man does? And note God only ruled over the nation of Israel for a set timeframe in history till Israel decided to delcare their own earthly king. Are the _spiritually married_ declaring God is their ruler and they no longer submit to their local government?
Christians submit their lives to the government in all other aspects of life; finances, birth, death, property, vocation, business, etc. The only reason people desire to not submit marriage is because they want to deny their spouse the benefits and rights a spouse is owned in finances, property, healthcare, death, provision, and protection.
Weather in the current secular government or the biblical theocratic government, marriages were and are submitted under a *governing community* and the men and women made vows and the *community* made sure they held their vows and if violated each party was given just due; or in the case of death the remaining spouse got proper property and healthcare rights.
Also the community made sure the children from the marriage were given proper rights. That is why there were legitimate children born in the union of a marriage and illegitimate born of fornication or adultery. The illegitimate children were not given property rights. This is all under ancient biblical theocracy.
We no longer live in theocracy so as stated in Romans follow the government you are under authority of. *There is nothing sinful about a marriage license.*

      2nd paragraph, last sentence...
If they did that they would still be living in sin. If the law of the land says you need a marriage certificate then that's what you need, God wants us to put him first but he also wants us to follow the laws of the land. If we don't follow the laws of the land we will therefore also be sinning against God. However if the laws of the land are indirect conflict with his commandments then yes we are to obey him above the law. Like abortion is legal in many places according to the laws of the land but under the commandments it's a sin. I really don't like how they get down so hard on the guy when she's a liar to herself and to everyone else also. She's complicit in this relationship and she's very confused as to what's traditional, biblical or "old school". From everything that she's been saying it doesn't even seem like they go to church bc I don't know how she thinks that her boyfriend is old school. If she was going to a church that was traditional, who was biblical in their practice and what they're preaching. It's almost like he opened the door for her one time and since that moment she thinks he's shiverous even though he hasn't opened the door for her since. You get what I'm saying? How do we even know what she's saying is the truth because she very easily lied to the couple on the screen. "My husband". She's not married and she even had a problem with him calling her his wife but she's still lying to herself. I think she knows the truth and I think she wanted to hear the truth because I don't think she would have went into everything but "my boyfriend wants to get married spiritually but not legally" but this couple coddled her behaviors instead, and really went in hard on him. When he's not the soul who needs the help right now. She's the one screaming out for help but she's gotten so complacent I think subconsciously she wants this couple in a way "shame" her. I think she thinks that the conviction she already feels isn't strong enough but it is the problem is is she still lying to herself but subconsciously she knows the truth.. You get what I'm saying? She's trying to pull the wool over this couple's eyes and she's been doing a pretty good job, but that's not what she's hoping deep down. I think deep down she wants someone to kick her in her butt.

    • @TwiFiveGirls101
      @TwiFiveGirls101 9 месяцев назад +5

@mandielou Wow, you are so right. The conviction she already feels is not strong enough for her to remove herself from this situation. She is seeking outside voices to help her realize the full extent of her situation. Lets pray this couple repent and have real falling on their knees before the Lord; especially the man, he needs a change of heart. The woman's heart knows what is righteous and was isn't, she is just having a hard time following through. This is work only the Holy Spirit can transform.

There are other LEGAL ways to get married and have a legally recognized marriage by our government without getting a government marriage license. It’s not legally required to have a marriage licensed issued by the government to be married. Our government has structured marriages to fail and over 80% of marriages today end in divorce and are initiated by women. There used be a such thing as separation from church and state. “Be not confirmed to the pattern of this world.”

    • @faithofthewaters5321
      @faithofthewaters5321 9 месяцев назад

It’s pretty annoying how so many people blame the failure of marriage on the government. Marriages fail and divorces are filed because PEOPLE, both men and women, don’t take marriage seriously and as a life long covenant and commitment. They aren’t getting married with God and Jesus Christ at the center, and anything that isn’t built on the rock and firm foundation of Christ, it DESTINED to fail and collapse. So please stop blaming government.

A biblical husband provides for his family and covers them spiritually. The man in this letter is failing on both accounts. The provision is absent because she doesn't even have medical coverage and he's ok with it. So if, God forbid, this man passes away unexpectedly, she's entitled to NOTHING. Which means that he's not concerned about providing for her in his presence or his absence. Life insurance, pension - these companies don't care about spiritual ceremonies. If you don't have a LEGAL marriage certificate, they can't do anything for you.

Even us in Africa we have two types, a customary marriage, which is the way our ancestors got married before colonisation and the civil marriage which involves the signing of the license.
Our States recognise both types as binding marriages.
In the cultural marriage a man must fulfil the customs of the culture in order to be recognised as a husband.
Most people in rural areas are the ones who get married that way. But for those in the city we do both.
We first start with the traditional one then proceed to get the civil marriage license.

If submitting to an “ungodly” government is a sin and following the law of the land then y’all need to find an island. Welcome to a fallen world! A marriage license is not a sin and our government is upholding a God ordained union. So “yay!” Sounds like everyone who doesn’t like submitting to the laws in our land, you have problems with God given authority and need to study that out under the discipleship of a Bible believing pastor. Christianity is not a choose your own adventure and see what God shows you. It must line up to the word of God.

What you said is true. We are even reminded of these in the Bible and that is why it is important to read the Word in its entirety and not to choose and ascribe to those scriptures that speak to our itchy ears. For now I will make reference to these two scriptures:
In 1st Peter 2:13-17 (BSB Version) tells us this: Submit yourselves for the Lord's sake every human institution. whether to the king as the supreme authority, or to governors as those sent by him to punish those who do wrong and to praise those who do right. For it is God's will that by doing good you should silence the ignorance of foolish men. Live in freedom, but do not use your freedom as a cover up for evil; live as servants of God. Treat everyone with high regard: Love the brotherhood of believers, fear God, honor the king.
In Romans 13: 1-7 (BSB Version) tells us this:Everyone must submit himself to the governing authorities, for there is no authority except that which is from God. The authorities that exist have been appointed by God. Consequently, whoever resists authority is opposing what God has set in place, and those who do so will bring judgement on themselves. For rulers are not a terror to good conduct, but to bad. Do you want to be unafraid of the one in authority? Then do what is right, and you will have his approval. For h is God's servant for your good. But if you do wrong, be afraid, for he does not carry the sword in vain. He is God's servant, an agent of retribution to the wrongdoer. Therefore, it is necessary to submit to authority, not only to avoid punishment, but also as a matter of conscience. This is also why you pay taxes. For the authorities are God's servant, who devote themselves to their work. Pay everyone what you owe him: taxes to whom taxes are due, revenue to whom revenue is due, respect to whom respect is due, honor to whom honor is due.

I feel you guys did a good read on this, and gave sound practical advice. But what I thought was missing was the spiritual guidance. She was spiritually manipulated (which could happen to any/many of us). But she would be less likely to fall for these kinds of tricks, if she was more stable in her foundation/relationship with God. She needs to get to know God through his word more, and seek to be filled with the holy spirit, so she can hear God’s voice. Had she prayed and fasted, and knew God’s word and his voice before entering this situationship, she may have be able to avoid the deception altogether. We all must be prayerful about entering into relationships (not limited to marriage) so that we are inviting God to guide us in them. He is the ultimate warning giver lbs

I've noticed ppl who've had bad experiences w marriage or saw bad situations with their family are resistant to getting married. Or, they've bought into modern, liberal mindset that marriage is slavery and not trendy in their current social group. Fear of being alone is a big reason why ppl, esp women, don't leave. Not to mention soul ties, time invested, financial stability. Even within dysfunction, there are comforts/familiarity. In order to separate, she'd have to work again. She has to be resolved in her decision so that he can't talk her out of it. Or, stay and let things remain the same. Actions will speak louder than words. Also, are they both Christians? Do they go to church, pray, read the bible, have Christian friends? She mentioned her relationship w God, but it doesn't sound like her partner has one, or at the very least, he's not allowing himself to be led by the Holy Spirit.

She should be really smart in her next moves if he’s a deceiver. There’s so many red flags, the worst not signing his kid’s birth certificate! She never mentions anything about his background, if he has parents, siblings, if she knows where he grew up, his job, friendships, etc. That tends to paint a picture about him, not full but if he does have a second wife, a criminal past or something big he’s hiding, then just by his background you can learn a lot. Also, if we give him the benefit of the doubt and consider he’s been sucked into the red pill movement and the “danger” of signing a marriage contract, then your problems are less but definitely need to be addressed for you and your kids protection.

I'm a Christian and in our church, no one gets married without pre-marital counselling and wether they get married in church or court, the marriage must be recorded legally. How can this man be one with her, if he doesn't want to give her his name? The two become one in marriage and if they are still two, they are not married. Also I have heard specifically from one Christian leader that getting married through the Justice of the Peace is a no no. Oh and there are people that say oh you are married after sex because it is in the Bible. And it does not talk about getting "married" means you have a marriage license and a pastor officiates a "wedding."

There are ways have everyone lawfully recognized as a household , “dependent “ but it is a more tedious lengthy process . Incorporating the marriage and signing the birth certificate( vs a certificate or affidavit of live birth) gives the government rights to interfere ( via courts, CPS, ect) there’s a lot of reading and studying that goes into it( far more than I can explain in a comment section) but there are ways to have a Common Law (which is biblically based) recognized to the same standard as an incorporated marriage.

They are indeed married and made vows before God. The state doesn't define marriage. Marriage documents in the Bible were handled by religious leaders, not Caesar. I was once of thr mind that the goverment should not be included in my marriage. My husband and i were married but did not have legal documwnts , but in our state two people cam be considered married without a marriage liscense under the common law marriage laws ans essentially prove their own marriage if needed. But we eventually did feel convicted to be legally married and im so glad we did. It really has done nothing to hinder our marriage, has also just stopped us from having to contend with others about thr legitimacy of our marriage, and also within our own minds. Plus now i and my children are procted legally in all the ways and i also have legally and formally changed my name. It just feels more complete and whole.
I undertstand this issue from both sides and i now would NOT consider anyone who is not legally married , married.

Just to clarify for some people, the government doesn't marry you. The license is merely state recognition of a marriage. It's a legally binding document that offers protection for both parties so when they go to another entity, e.g. insurance company, they have more than just their word to verify their union. This affords them certain rights and privileges without the hassle of asking witness to the marriage each time the couple wants something.
It's akin to a college degree from an accredited university. You can get educated on your own but a degree from a university is a quick way for an employer you have the correct education needed for a certain job. That's it.

You're correct that it's just a ceremony, but it's a ceremony of importance. You don't need it necessarily, but it's good to have the community band together to witness your union so they can hold you accountable in the future to the vows you made before them.

Oh and much more. Anywho, Christian marriage is what my church sticks with and without government involvement.

Romans 13:1-2 says: "Obey the government, for God is the One who has put it there. There is no government anywhere that God has not placed in power. So those who refuse to obey the law of the land are refusing to obey God, and punishment will follow."

I have known men who wanted to do a church marriage without a state marriage simply for the reason that the divorce legal system is so heavily stacked against men. I wondered too if that was such a bad thing, since I like one less thing for govt. to get its sticky fingers in, and marriage is a really serious and special thing in my faith. However, my church only recognizes marriages that are legal. Maybe this is why.

Being afraid of a legal system is operating from a position of fear. God said that perfect love casts out all fear and that those who fear are not perfected in love. Men should instead be focused on picking the right woman and loving her like Christ loves the Church. In doing those two things, there's a really high likelihood that there won't be a divorce.

If Christian’s hold to a biblical model of marriage, divorce shouldn’t even be on the table. The higher the risk for both people the more they understand the depth of commitment, which should also act as another deterrent for divorce and another reason why they should think thoroughly about each other before even getting married. This marriage removes all sacrifice and commitment, it’s literally a risk free situation that you can run out of as soon as you don’t like it. And he wants to be able to do it without cost. Divorce should cost you something because marriage is serious, not a game. He made the choice out of fear and was only thinking of himself and covering his own behind. He’s a coward and tbh a deceiver just like she said. He knew how he felt but he still wanted the benefits of marriage without the risk.

@poik247 Christian's hold to a biblical model of
marriage, divorce shouldn't even be on the
      table."
Well, divorce is on the table with many christians and church leaders, not to mention the world. Often, when making life choices, we have concider what is happening, not just what should be happening.
"The higher the risk for both people
the more they understand the depth of
commitment, which should also act as another
      deterrent for divorce..."
You're correct here but perhaps fail to realize is not only is divorce not risky for most women, they are highly incentivized to choose divorce.
This has been the reality for decades and men are very aware of it. Government, church leaders, women and even men themselves did not adequately oppose or reform this, and now men have and are adapting.
"...another reason why they should think thoroughly about each other before even getting married."
Love and marriage are common to start young before people are fully mature. This wasn't as big a problem before things like No Fault Divorce. Society expected you live with your choices and strive to make the best of it. Now, not so much. Furthermore, it's hard to predict who people will become. Profession of faith isn't a great predicter of virtue anymore.
"This marriage removes all sacrifice and commitment, it's literally a risk free situation that you can run out of as soon as you don't like it."
This seems like a very secular assessment. Messiah is his head and judge.
There are still serious risks he is assuming, such as the possibility of children, that are not eliminated by this arrangement.
Additionally, according to the letter, he's a great man who has so far sacrificed to provide and has been faithful to his commitments (except for the promise to get a license, which granted deserves scrutiny)
"And he wants to be able to do it without cost. Divorce should cost you something because marriage is serious, not a game."
I assure you, many men choose to live this way to protect themselves from woman. Not planning for a future divorce. The State has empowered women to be very destrutive to their husbands & families and many women have chosen to use that power.
"He made the choice out of fear and was only thinking of himself and covering his own behind."
You seem to have a lot of insight into his inner motives and, presumably, you haven't even spoke with him. It's possible he's acting in fear but his actions are easily explained by prudence and wisdom as well. Covering is own "behind" is these matters can also be a protection for the family.
"He's a coward and tbh a deceiver just like she said."
The letter doesn't require such a harsh judgement as this. He was only unfaithful to one commitment (granted a significant one) but this is also a matter of conscience. It's possible this move would seriously violate that conscience. Sometimes commitments or simply life presents you with two bad options and you have to do the best you can. Legal marriage is a death sentence to some relationships the husband has to bear the burden of that decision.
"He knew how he felt but he still wanted the benefits of marriage without the risk."
Again, he is still taking on risks & consequences and appears to have been pretty up front about his convictions

I think that's the point: Biblically, divorce was protection for women (you can research this yourself). Jesus spoke to the hardness of men's hearts. Today, men still hold the power in our world. And not sure what legal system you are a part of, but statistically women are NOT better off after divorce, especially if there are children involved. Globally, this would be true.

Divorce isn’t inevitable in a marriage. No fault divorce is an issue but not getting married won’t fix it. Especially if you end up moving in with in and having kids with the person anyway. At that point it’s just selfishness.

@@ab-gailLike with many things, the worlds concept of marriage and the Bibles concept of marriage are two different things.
The man described in the letter, it seems, has has gone to great lengths to honor traditional/biblical marriage.
It seems like alot of work to go through jusr to trick a woman into bed.

    • @aprilsanchez5402

@@xbluesaintxHe didn't honor traditional marriage or the Biblical definition at all. He dishonored the woman, because he didn't keep his word (she had to go without insurance as a result) and he dishonored his own children who won't get anything from him in the instance he dies (because he refused to put his name on their birth certificates). Those are not honoring God at all.

@@xbluesaintxAlso, in the Bible, they had legal marriages where you couldn't get divorced without a certificate of divorce. What reassurance does this woman have that he won't just up and leave since their "marriage" isn't legal and what accountability is placed on the man to stay in the "marriage"?
