A lot of humility too
This is such a hard topic for me to listen to, as a single woman. The word "submission" is very off-putting to me and I don't know how to fix that, but this is a good place to start. Listening to the two of you discuss this as a loving team was helpful! I definitely agree it is biblical and therefore necessary, but seeing the marriages of my parents and a lot of my closest friend's parents where the Christian Man ruled the house in a way that was toxic, hurtful, neglectful and/or petty or abusive has really scared me in regards to relationships. I know as a Christian I will have to submit if I get married, and that terrifies me and I feel reluctant to even pursue dating, because I don't want to get trapped. I feel grieved about giving up on the idea of marriage, but I feel fear has closed the door. Even if you find a seemingly good Christian man, people can/do backslide, or pretend to be someone they are not, and then you are stuck for life. I don't know how to overcome this, other then wait for God to work a miracle or accept that maybe I am supposed to stay single
Hi. I hope this help you and I hope you find contentment, peace and joy about marriage and dating in this reply. There’s a lot of places in the New Testament about marriage and a wife submitting to her husband. Here’s the thing. Ephesians 5:22-32 (and in the other books as well) is not about marriage between a man and a woman. It’s not about a wife submitting to her husband. It’s not about behaviour. It’s all about Christ and the church. Specifically the mystery. Some people get stuck at verse 22 and run with it. They should be getting stuck at verse 32, run with that and enjoy the revelation of the mystery. It’s about Christ and the church. Verse 32. It’s not about a husband and wife. God Bless. I have been SEARCHING for a teaching on wives submitting to husbands that was proper and just listening to this, I literally can feel the SPIRIT of God, the love of God and for each other. Help, y’all 😢 been married for 3 months now and have been having a super hard time submitting. My dad was a chill guy, never been a real leader, and I have been single and independent for so long. Always making decisions for myself and having to support myself through so much. Now comes natural to do everything on my own and not listen to my husband 😭😭

I’m studying what the Bible says about being a wife and as I got to Ephesians the submission scripture jumped out at me. I never had a problem with it but I realize that as I’m called to minister this to other women, I may run into women who DO have a problem with it. So I asked God to lead me to a message that He has already put forth into the Earth about this topic that I can glean from. And for me to know it’s a good, Godly word. I opened RUclips and this message was at the top of the list. I scrolled past to look at all the options but I felt led to listen to YOURS! And I’m so glad I did! My biggest take away is that God intended us to live out mutual submission.
Then I did a deep dive on your ministry and can’t wait to listen to your God math series! Thank you guys for being obedient and putting this word out. It blessed me in November 2023!

You have no idea how much this helped me. I’ve struggled with power and submission and not understanding the view. My father was incarcerated and the relationships I’ve seen always had the women in control and this definitely changed my perspective. I just thank God for changing my perspective and for you answering the call 🙏

Thank you thank you you’re talk about submission was a blessing in my life and was right on time. I’m 66 years old been married 4 times I have a boyfriend and he said’s he wants a wife that knows how to submit. To be honest I didn’t know what that meant and we always argued about it I thought he just wanted to control me because my other marriages were abusive. So we are at the point now where we break up and get back together because we really love each other I’m afraid one day we might not get back together because you only can say sorry so many times. So I decided to go on RUclips and find me some Help on this subject and you and your husband were a God sent. I look at Submission through different eyes now and I understand what God means as far as our rolls in a marriage. I also learned a new Love Language with my Boo 😊 Yes even at our age he’s my Boo ❤ So thank you again and God Bless You Both and your Family 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾

Awesome discussion, and well needed. I would like to shine light on what was mentioned about women functioning in the office of the governmental order.
In the Spirit of the Gospel- there is equality, and I’m sure we can all agree women were not created to be fathers.
Holding the ‘office’ in the government of God/ 5-fold ministry is out of order/principle.
However, as Sons of God (male & female), we are lead, and are equal in that sense.
As the husband/father is to his family, so is the 5-fold Ministry to the Church, according to Ephesians 4; it is out of order for females to hold the office, yet she has the ministry of reconciliation, and whatever the Holy Spirit leads her to do in any given moment. If Ephesians 4 applied to women, it would suggest women can indeed function as mother and father.
Thank God for continued revelation, and understand; I will continue to open myself for such 🙏🏾

Thank you for this conversation and it’s also funny you started out with movies. I grew up the same way my mother and father agreed we are not allowing things into our spirit and not just watching anything we like. I had a bad experience when my children were very young and my husband bought tickets to see transformers the older ones very sexual forward. I was boiling on the inside immediately I took action all movies and shows go through me . If it’s now the wife and it’s reversed how would I navigate putting that trust in him and protecting my children even if he thinks it’s ok ?
I agree with most of what you all are saying and great discussion by the way. I'm however, not seeing where the Bible is calling for mutual submission. He says the wife to submit to her husband, and he tells the husband to love her as Christ loved the church. There's no reciprocal submission between Christ and his bride(the church). He's simply calling for the husband to love his wife self- sacrificiallly. In other words give up what he desires in order to meet her needs. Now there are mutual obligations of course, but he's saying husband's sacrifice yourself for your wife but mutually submit, no. On the contrary, Paul calls on the wife to affirm and support the headship of their husbands. Only the wives are given such instruction to submit.

I also believe that when it comes to the children the desire of both parties must be considered, yet CHRIST has to be the best solution!
