But as of right now I'm really interested in the research part of it, or becoming a professor. I just don't know if I'll continue grad school with English or Soc
To become a professor you have to write a book. Basically all universities will not hire you even as an adjunct if you aren't published. To write a book you have to go to a high need country, like the ones I mentioned, since those are the only ones they are giving grants for. The other option is working with data. Which I did for a bit right after I graduated since a professor offered it to me and it paid decent--- I wanted to kill someone at the end of the day it was painstaking and boring and your eyes hurt from looking a census data and excel sheets. BUT some people like this or at least accept it as their life profession and eventually the salary gets better. I'm just letting you know of MY experience.
The bad thing is the becoming a professor is hard. Even with the book published they might only hire you as an adjunct which makes about as much as a grade school teacher and the job isn't secure. Meaning if not enough students are in the school or willing to take the class they shut it down. One professor also told me they will also screw you over because instead of splitting your classes into two they'll just put you in an auditorium and pay you less. IF you get a full time offer than its pretty sweet but before it apparently blows.

And I know that either way I go I want to work with publishing somehow, either behind the scenes or getting my own thing published. Also it isn't that hard to get something published that's from the US. My sister and her friend completed a study that was local to our county. I'm also more interested in qualitative research, although I know all of than can be a pain as well!
Library Work is another one for English. You can actually Major in anything as long as your Masters is in Library Science but I just think it looks better to potential Masters Programs if your undergrad is at least in some way related to it.

Alejandra Gallegos I think it's the hardest business major (tied with accounting). but it's not like engineering math. I only had to take 1 or 2 basic math classes , but the other classes had math in them. it's just about practice.
Don't waste you money companies don't care about degrees since there is such a dearth, and youre pretty much going to have to learn everything on your own. Just learn programming and profit.
