@@pauld7861 thank you I Understand mate. u have no idea how much grief I been getting this week. I will address everybody in a video because I think a few things need to be said.
I think you’ve missed covering the biggest reason people are intimidated by, and might avoid cleaning the engine bay. HOW do you protect the air filters and battery ? Maybe show where/what needs to be located. As well as how you protect them. That would be super useful!
Hello I have another more detailed video coming 🙏
@@epicautomotivedetailing thank you for saying so.

Thank you for the video Dave. You gave some useful tips there. Lots of people shy away from engine bay cleaning but on modern cars it's really one of the easier cleaning jobs. That Yum dress looks some good stuff as well.
Yes I just go all in with engine bays. I have good insurance lol
Followed your video to the letter using the materials you suggested. The results made the engine bay of my 2019 Mustang look like it had just left the showroom. First class, thanks
Thanks Gary 🙂
Yet again you have smashed it , your videos are just awesome, as you know I’m just a weekend Warrior and just Learning so much I really didn’t know you could do that on your Engine , keep it up 👍🏼

Hello to the too excited Dave😉😉 from Australia ;) Very nice engine bay and yes that did look like new, a top job..

hey, great job. I would like very much to see also cleaning the engine block without the cover. I have a 2017 diesel volvo and need to clean the engine bay to keep an eye on oil leaks.
Great video thank you

Great vid as always Dave! Would like to see a engine bay clean with an older car without all the protective engine covers as those tend to be be more of a ball ache to wash as everything is exposed.
Thanks mate yes there is one coming very soon
@@epicautomotivedetailing fantastic! Look forward to it!
@@epicautomotivedetailing I'd be happy to offer up a car for that!
Everything was exposed on my MK2 Clio and when i had the engine bay jetwashed it later ran on 2 cyl's as water got in the spark plugs and coilpacks. After taking them all out and drying them off it ran fine again. I now have a 2005 Corolla with the coil packs and spark plugs hidden underneath the engine cover so no chance of misfiring when jetwashing the engine bay. I do mask off connections, alternator and the battery though.
@@jaggass I had a Renault MK1, brilliant car, one of the best cars I've ever owned.
Cheers dave , taken ages to pluck up the courage to do this .
I did a surfex hd spritz round , then snow foam
Van still starts , was very cautious but looks much better
Honestly I know people always go on about it not being a good idea but in the 15+ years I've done this it's never gone wrong
@@epicautomotivedetailing that's good enough for me.
Great video keep it up
Thanks, will do! :)
i tackle the engine bay with autobrite direct jaffa degreaser brush on with detailer brush .. i had a problem with a bodge car cleaner year ago had to replace the coil as he got water in the engine... when brushing i gets in cracks and crannys and wipe of with cloth.. looks great at lease no problems... great video ..
thanks mate.
Great video!
What would you recommend on a 10th gen Honda Civic which does not have an engine cover (don't know if that's the right term)?
Top results with maximum efficiency. Would like to see your approach on, say fifteen, twenty year old vehicles.
Absolutely great vid.....
Couple of points I would like to raise
1. When we done cars 20 years ago we cover the ECU with plastic bag and elastic band.....not needed anymore?
2. We used to also cover a round thing with 4 cables leading into it "speak plugs" but I can't remember the name (coil?)
3. We used to keep Engine running incase it start failing? Why is this not common practice now?
Brilliant vid, Ur content is top tier mate and should be proud of the content. You really are helping me build my buisness
Hiya depending on car some are covered, instead of bags I used cling film which did the job well enough. the alternator is well out of sight on this model, if engine gets too warm you find cold water will crack with the sudden change in temperature. It honestly depends on what type of car you have some better built than others. If you cleaning an Audi Q7 your be fine lol
@@epicautomotivedetailing that's it, the alternator......yeah thanks for advice.....I will be fine once I do a few, the liability is on me this time and not on my boss so need to 💯 lol......yes we used cling film aswell. Do you like krill?
@@Themozartthug think people tend to get so confused with engine bay cleaning so hopefully this video will simplify the process for people 🙏
Another great video, thank you. One question, that you didn't cover. What do you use to protect electrical parts under the bonnet? I've heard different suggestions, from tin foil to plastic bags to just covering with a microfibre cloth. What do you use?
I lost some of the footage unfortunately so video was shorter than planned. I use plastic bags normally with elastic band
Great video. I’m really unsure about tackling the engine bay. Do you have a video or recommend how you protect the battery and other components that need protection?
Hello mate yes more engine bay videos was testing waters with this one
@@epicautomotivedetailing I second the request for a detailed video about how to protect the elements that need protection. Thanks! Super informative channel!!!
“A little to excited” 😂

@@epicautomotivedetailing great video btw
@@ryleedenney7872 thanks my friend 🙏
Great vid buddy, i have a 2006 jeep grand cherokee which is in desperate need of an engine clean as its had an oil leak for a very long time and the garage refuses to wrk on it until its been cleaned lol. i noticed that you left the engine cover on, the v6 in my jeep has a plastic engine cover but needs cleaning underneath,do you think its ok to remove it and clean whats under there?
when you say cover up major components does that include any exposed drive belts/fan belts etc?
other than battery/alt/intake i cant think of anything else that would need to be covered. some people say cover up all electrics including all plugs etc but surely they get exposed to water splash on the road.
keep up the good work buddy
Mainly alternator, battery, electrical fuse box. I know most is covered anyways but I just cling filmed it. I should of filmed that bad lol. My van engine looks incredible and I'm going to do more engine videos soon I think
Beautiful Job!!! Love You Videos. In America We Have" Do it Yourself Car Wash " Takes America Quarters However The TIRE AND ENGINE CLEANER is Really Nothing But ANTIFREEZE if You Can Believe That!!!😂😂😂😂😂 The Main Reasons I Telling You This Is Because Most Novices Just Spray and Soak The Engine Bay Without Covering anything and Do Not Disconnect The Battery. Its A Big Problem With New Cars With The Onboard Computer and It Just Ruins The Electronic Components in The Engine Bay. Just Some Useful information. Plus At Car Dealerships They are Starting to Use Just TIRE SHINE SPRAY to get That Shiny NEW LOOK and its Terrible To Use Because of The Chemical Compounds in It Especially When the Engine Gets Hot!!! Great Work Just Letting You Know Here in The States 🇺🇸 What We Have To Deal With Sometimes!!! Awesome Work Bro Keep You Videos Coming Great Job!!!💯💯💯💯💯💯💯
Thanks so much that's very kind genuinely means a lot to see positive comments
Very impressed. Also, what are you using to protect the battery and fuse box?
Since there's no answer allow me to add my 2 cents. I used to work for a fleet, cleaned many an engine, and experience taught myself a rule of thumb on this: when in doubt about spraying a water-sensitive component (alternator, starter connections, spark plug coil area, fuse boxes), cover it up water-tight as you can get it then go clean the engine as you will. And either clean by hand with brake cleaner or some such or else simply leave that part dirty.
I know this might not be an option if this is your customer's car - but since nowadays the only engines I clean are my own, that is what I do.
It only takes one time of not being able to restart your engine and you will become a real stickler about this. And that's also the main important reason to do on a warm-not-hot engine as it helps the water evaporate much quicker. Also I make a point to have compressed air at the ready too just in case.
Great video Dave, the engine bay is looking smart, would parts of the electrics have to be covered before washing.
alternator , fuse box area in case its not sealed properly, battery area. Most modern cars are well protected. thanks for watching mate
BRILLIANT as usual DAVE fantastic Yum Dress V2 I’ve gotta try that ,, drys itself That’s Magic ( coz I’m lazy )
Stay Safe

thanks Steve appreciate the kind words
Great job Dave..... same way I dress engine bay while it's wet 👌🏽💯
Thanks mate
Great video, only thing missing is how you protected the filters and battery? want to try this on my car :)
Great point! we lost footage during filming and the location was 4 hours away so couldnt go back to film sadly
Awesome video. I would like to see the engine steaming.
It's coming mate
Excellent vid this car is a diesel engine is doing a petrol car any different because of things like coil pack and spark plug etc
Thanks mate. I've always treated every car different based on whatever the engine is like. Audi's are well protected though
Dave what did u cover the car parts with cheers mate keep up the great work
Hi mate I used cling film in this one. We stupidly lost data when I recording the beginning of this one
I'd be carful around alternators aswell👍
Blowers are useful with engine bays. You can blow the dressing into all the nooks and crannies and get an more even finish over the entire engine bay👍
I need a new car dryer. mine blew up big time

Hi, please inform what is and how to purchase the quick release nozzle rubber protector you are using on your gun?
Hello everything in this video comes from yumcars
try not to get the sound deadening to wet as that is how it starts to sag on older cars
Thanks for sharing mate 🙏
What year was this car? Will it be safe to do this on a 2010 model?
EPIC
Thanks mate
On modern cars should we still be covering battery and filter? If so, How would you cover air filter and battery? Plastic bag?
yes sorry we lost footage from filming, rookie mistake
Great video I would love to do this to my engine bay but am too worried that I will get water into electric etc I have a Vauxhall mokka 2015 theres a clear message on the bay No pressure washer
That's cool there are many alternative ways of cleaning engine bays. I got another video coming soon using steam and then I'm doing a hand clean with no hose no water pressure
Once again Dave great video, but what about if you have no water near by like myself?? I do my car with waterless cleaner.
Great question mate fear not I'm filming a waterless engine bay video next week and also doing as many variables as possible 🙏
@@epicautomotivedetailing that would be handy too see Dave 👍🏼👍🏼👍🏼
i have a 2012 Honda Fit where the battery is expose, i'm thinking of covering it up with a plastic bag or something then copy your process.
Always cover electronics. We lost footage of cling film didn't realize till got home
How do you protect the filters and battery? This was just glossed over.
Hiya as I mentioned in comments we lost some of the footage from one of the cameras including intro , covering scenes and ending unfortunately
Another great vid dave how would you go about price for a engine bay clean
Thanks mate you got few options. First it depends on how bad the engine bay is and how delicate some of the components are. Eg classic cars need to cleaned by hand only. I've always added it as an extra and not as a standalone service. Engines like this one for example I would of charged around £50 but obviously wouldn't if waited till next day to dress engine bay. We did that bit that bit purely to test the product
@@epicautomotivedetailing thans for your reply mate apreciate the info ive only ever done them by hand on family and friends cars not yet tried a customers but might be worth a try 1 day thanks again
Thanks mate stay tuned other engine bay videos coming
Keep alternator dry, or covered up, today cars has many electronics components
See u used kranzle 1152 tst is it good ? Also the mtm pf22.2 is that a good foam cannon ?
It is amazing but it's also got one heck of a price tag that just isn't doable for most people.
@@epicautomotivedetailing ok cheers that 😃 👍👍
Hi Brilliant video as normal, You just didn't show at the beginning the actual parts you covered up to protect and what you used, This would be great to know and see?? Thanks
Yeah we filmed with 2 cameras a6400 and Lumix gh5 and the footage from the Sony corrupted and I didn't think to record with the Lumix 😬 we lost the intro too which was gutted hence the voiceover ☹️
I have always been scared of doing this and just used a detail brush and a spray bottle and a damp microfibre cloth on the engine bay.
Is it safe to use this method on a car.
Yes totally safe doing it that way my friend
Enjoyed the Video [ im guessing after so many mentions your a fan of YUM product then🤣 ] at start you rightly said protect items such as filters etc ...... just wondering, have seen a few Engine bay videos saying cover alternator , disconnect battery etc HOW Do you "Protect these " cover with plastic bags or what ??
I use cling film or plastic bag mate. I'm doing other engine bay videos soon was testing waters with an alternative method that I hadn't seen anywhere else 👌
when do you do the engine before the car or after?
Engine first before anything else mate
Any links to the transit connect engine bay clean.

I'd have liked a close up on protecting the battery and air filter, other than that it was informative 👍🏻
Hello sorry as mentioned in comments we lost a fair bit of footage on this video but there is another one coming soon with alternative methods

Nice job Dave, but the cars not very old is it?
Yes that's why said in the video it's a modern day engine bay cleaning video. I've already got various engine bay videos lined up for classic cars using alternative methods
Where can I buy a power wash tip like that black one please?
Yum cars mate
@@epicautomotivedetailing ah just checked I found it ty, I hope it ships to the US
so would britegel be safe for engine bay cleaning? thanks
Im not sure mate . i havent used that so i dont know the effects it could have
@@epicautomotivedetailing its autobrites gel based wheel cleaner it does fantastic on the wheels 😂
With this technique, how safe is it in cars that are say 10 years old? I’ve stayed away from a full engine bay clean option, purely because of the risk to alternators etc.
Fair comment. This video is based on modern day engines so I also have few more engine bay videos being filmed so I'm doing a classic car engine bay next month so that will be out in October / November time. You don't have to do full engine bay details you can also offer basic wipe downs with a citrus based product and your get a nice enough finish 😁

Yum yum, I understand how it is, but it's kinda frustrating that product is always something not available for me even if it was a perfect one for my needs. If you do that same magic with some autoglym/meguiars etc widely available brand your videos would have much more views imo.
I understand that mate. I do feature Autoglym, turtlewax, meguiar's but I was at yum hq I couldn't exactly film on their property with Autoglym. My last detail video featured xpert 60, I've also featured alien magic, go Detailing in and pyramid car care. I also got valet Pro stuff coming next month. I only use products I like and to be honest it doesn't matter what shampoo you use etc there's so many that can do a good job 👌
I would still have a compressor and blast the water from the electrical connectors
I didn't have one for this video
Well said ,cover the battery and alternator (if you can find it) don’t be afraid of water in the engine bay they are tested to destruction almost, there is no way a 70k car would break down because of a bit of water ,possible but unlikely ,I’ve never had any issues with modern cars .
I used to be afraid also of doing engine bays but just bit the bullet on my own car and absolutely drenched it ,no issues since….👍
Finally someone gets it, Thank you
4:31…. He’s got a lot of spunk, I can tell you that
the reason i clicked on the video was to see who u protected battery n filters... the part u skipped
The battery was already protected and and I covered it with cling film but as I said in many other comments we lost some footage as the file corrupted so we lost the intro too. Just bag up the battery it's simple
This is a great way to fuck your car up 🤣
Every comment increases my chances of doing well so thanks for helping my bank balance 🤣
