I have a 2019 LR in black with black seats and would prefer the blue although I’m thinking Model Y next time. :) Acceleration boost can be felt. Mine is rapid.
This is a fantastic review and one of the better one's out there for the Tesla Model 3. Very down to earth and real world advice. You should be reviewing EVs for a living!!
Another thumbs up and huge THANK YOU for being one of the very few sources on the net to show the after purchase upgrade options and pricing. You have no idea how hard it is to get that info xD
Hey David, to be honest I had just never seen many Black ones around so I thought it would be good to be different, plus I don't know why but I felt the black gave it a real sportier look!
@@MBrown both are excellent reasons! I find it sporty too. And it does seem more rare. Would you describe the black in person as a deep, rich jet black? Or a more dull black?
Mark: I agree with you about Tesla's boldness in re their minimalist styling approach. That's exactly what the digital and miniaturization technology enable, and Elon's Franz von Holzhausen design team dared to apply it with no holds barred. Even aiming for it to be available to anyone. Glad to see you found a way to be an "early-adaptor" by applying your sensible business acumen. That, coupled with your "clean" presentation style, I think could strike a chord with many potential BEV owners watching these channels. Wishing you success!
ok the black is soooo much better after seeing your video. My order is just a week away but currently with the white (the black is out of stock). Hoping that over the next week somebody cancels their black. I had changed the order so many times, initially was going with performance model, but I think LR + Boost is best option and value for money. I love your review - I am hyped now! Another week is going to last forever.

@@MBrown From what I've seen it ramps up the 0-30 power making it really jump off the line! I'll be ordering one of these for myself in a few months so I'll be sure to keep your referral code handy.
Hi Mark, I've just purchased this exact vehicle (other than interior colour!) Including made in china, and am awaiting delivery in the next week or so. I'm super excited to get my car and I've been watching a lot of your videos. Would you say that in 2023 the car still holds up to expectations? The one I've purchased is at 40k miles. I'm really excited regardless, and your videos are keeping me excited for my new car!
Hey that’s great! You’re gonna love your new car, do you know if you have USS (parking sensors) Tesla removed these on newer models and that’s the only think I would say is much worse on the newer models
Yes from looking at the pictures I can see it has front and rear parking sensors, I wasn't aware that they had removed them in newer models. My car's a 21 plate black LR M3. I'm a little worried about any miscellaneous cabin noises as it's being shipped from Aberdeen, but I'm going from a 2005 Toyota Prius so it's a pretty big upgrade!
Really honest review. I too dislike the rear of the M3 and wish they would be more adventurous in a refresh. Would love to know your verdict of the ride and road noise. How easy is it to get national radio on DAB?
Thanks so much! Yes the ride is really nice to be honest, looking forward to my first 5 hour drive as that’s the real tell for me. In some cars I’ve had my back is killing... some it’s perfect! Yes the radio works perfectly (well as perfectly as DAB can be) plus you have internet radio too so you’ll have no problems
Hi Mark. Great videos. So I have an ftype and debating swapping to tesla 3. Do you not miss the pops and crackles of the exhaust or has the comfort balanced that out. Any regrets?
Hey Ian! Yes I do miss that! It's made up a little by the faster 0-60 and Tech inside the car... but yeah you can't beat the sound of an F-Type. I wish Tesla had an app to play car sounds inside the car haha
Great enthusiasm again! Bit of advice, have sentry on all the time. You never know what it might record and if you have an accident it will prove blame one way or the other.Personally I think Sentry Mode is the best feature of a Tesla but only if you need it. You’d kick yourself if it wasn’t on and you needed it! I had FSD on previous car but willingly added enhanced for auto lane change which works well. without it you have to come off autopilot to overtake and then engage it again. First World but makes long journeys so much better.Parking seems better too and I’m happy with my purchase Speed boost? Wow that upgrade button shouts at me all the time but my wife’s voice constantly saying “ do you really need to go half a second faster?” Stops me wasting £1500! I will do it😂
I've had a couple of F-Type R's and at the moment i've got a Porsche Macan S. My Model 3 long range is coming in June so it's good to hear that the interior quality is as good. I've not even test driven a Tesla yet so i'm excited but also a bit nervous :) Whereabouts in Cornwall are you going to, as that's where I live. (Redruth)
Hey Mick, that’s great I think you’re going to enjoy it! It’s very different but in a way I’m really enjoying! We’re heading to St Ives! Looking for some office spaces!
Hey thanks for the comment, yes I’m planning on doing a full video going over every command. I wanted to cover it in the next video of Cool things the Tesla can do!
Enjoyed the review ta - like your reg number :-) Love the Jaguar F type and agree with you about the rear end. The Model 3 is ok - but I couldn't accept the lack of a speed reading in front of you. Bought a Range Rover instead!
Hi, Mark, great videos, very informative. I'm hoping to soon be able to order a Model 3, but not sure about black or white interior. Does the white reflect in the screen at night? Never seen anyone mention it anywhere, so I presume it's not a problem?
Hey thanks for the great question! So I was worried about the white, but I’ll be honest, I love it, makes it feel very bright and airy. It hasn’t caused any issues at night either (the screen actually changes to a dark mode at night too)
when can you choose the acceleration boost? i can't see that option on the website. (norway) also. won't it actually loose a bit of range with this upgrade? i mean, technically the performance and the long range awd has the same amount of batteries, just that the performance motor uses more energy, hence less range. I imagine this upgrade will take a chunk of potential range?
Hi, the acceleration boost is done with in the app or from your Tesla account online. You can only do a speed boost on the long-range model at the moment.
I have not detected any change in range with my acceleration boost. The difference in performance is amazing. If you can afford it, go for it, don't hesitate.
We should be able to get a Panasonic battery instead with no details on the specs being released or reliability details it’s not the fact that it’s made in China that’s the issue it’s whether the battery costing thousands will last as well being a different formula 80kw from one manufacturer is not the same characteristics when low on voltage or discharge rate
LifePo4 batteries last LONGER (to this point) than other lithium ion chemistries. This is the cell type which coined the phrase "million mile battery". The energy *density* is slightly lower, so there may be a slight weight penalty for similar capacity (kWh) but otherwise no problem.
@@rogerstarkey5390 heck no maybe for home but my experience has been that they don't like low voltage at all also they are significantly bigger than current gen batteries density is also another area where other batterys win
Great quality as the previous video.. I am wondering why your numberplate doesn't have green? Also why it's yellow in the back and white in the front? I don't know UK norms much ,so pardon my curiosity.
Hey great question! So yes in the U.K. we have white from and yellow back (I think it’s to signify what end of the car you’re looking at and white reflects less light back at you when driving behind it) The green is on all new EV license plates here but you can remove it. I bought some private plates and they were delivered with them off (I might get some new ones!)
Can’t wait to see if Berlin takes the build quality to a newer level still. Unfortunately 50k is £20k more than I’d pay for a model 3 if that Car was £30k it would be on the drive. Don’t drive a EV but and we have a two cars the last one arrived in January split new and could be our last ice. We have one of the biggest onshore wind farms a few miles from the house with free charging granted it’s only four stalls and we go there for walks as it is. In Scotland we have a free government backed charge network called Charge Scotland they now have chargers in most villages and tourist spots and major cities usually near shopping complexes. I was talking to a guy pre COVID as I was just interested in his EV as it was charging and it was a nice night (Summer) and he was drinking his coffee sitting on a bollard in the sun beside his car. He had done 43k miles free commuting because he did 86 miles round trip a day and came and went to a shopping complex ironically beside a Loch and charged while he read his paper and had his coffee he’d made before he left his work to go home. He said he’d just be sitting on the couch read his paper anyway at home so why not do it while he sat charging. Actually said he enjoyed it as it was his wee half hour of chill time before returning to a busy home. He’d got a great deal as the newer model (Zoe) was about to arrive and the showroom wanted space and I mean criminally good deal with manufacturers contribution and the government grant. After 43k miles and over two years he could sell the car now (this was a few years back) for he reckoned £1k less than he paid for it and that’s not taking into account the Diesel he saved going from his last runabout to the new EV. Not completely done for environmental reasons more wallet as he at the time had a 1 year old M5 BMW he used for holidays and at the weekends. 😁.
Yes the German build is going to be really interesting, I would imagine it would be really good, as Germany makes the best cars in the world. yes I'd agree with that guy, I've had the car six weeks and paid £0.00 in fuel/electric. There is a free charger near my office which is handy and one at a garden centre down the road.
Found your channel. Not sure if I like the Tesla content or seeing your area of Manchester more. Born and raised couple of miles from there before moving south.
I can't charge at home either, so it's interesting to see someone else in that situation. Unfortunately free charging is almost nowhere in the Netherlands. At least I have a 9kW EV box closeby, so I think it should suffice if I charge the car over night there and pick it up when I go to work.
Hey Sam so they actually have them all over. In the North West it’s a company called Be.EV however check your local area using Zap Map. They are mostly 7kw but if you hunt around their might be a 50KW about
Hi the heated steering wheel is only in the long range and performance models, do you have the standard range? If so I think you can pay to upgrade it in the app
Seriously good review and seriously nice with the black exterior and white exterior! I was going Polestar but I’m being slowly won over by the Tesla especially if the build quality is getting better. Many thanks.
I am pleased we are getting the Chinese built models. No offence Americans but you and us in the UK are not exactly renowned for build quality when it comes to cars.
@@MBrown good for you, I've only seen a few reviews of this. I didn't even know you could do this. Even people like carwow carbuyer etc don't even mention this. I think it would changer people's mind on getting one. Can't wait to see it😜😎👍

Nice review and quite informative. I am waiting for Tesla to reply to my request for a test drive of a model 3 but nothing yet😐. However, my real need is for the model Y as I’ve grandchildren and a big dog so the 3 is impractical. No release date yet but maybe the Y will also be China made?
Thanks Stuart, hopefully they’ll be able to give you a test drive very soon. I’m not even sure when the model Y is coming out, but it does look pretty good
Brave having a white interior that’s going to be ditched with in weeks I’d of gone for a darker interior easier to clean and maintain. It’s not zero emissions as the electricity has to be produced ie burning gas or nuclear fuel so it’s not zero emissions
Hey so far the white has been great, no staining and wipes clean. I think because it;s not real leather it won't age like leather does, but I'll be sure to do an update video for you in a few months time. In terms of the emissions, it is zero emissions, I top up at a charger than gets its power from solar and wind turbines. (the public chargers often tell you where the energy comes from, as of course you're right some are power stations etc.) But at least in a city it will help improve air quality
Hey Casper yes I hope so, although mine already have a few scratches around the door handle and I’m super careful so I’m taking mine in, in a few weeks time
Hi, thanks for sharing this great review. Excellent presentation. Sorry to sound so ignorant but where’s your link to register for 1000 free miles? Many thanks, I’ll be taking delivery soon and looking to get privacy glass as I feel this is a real missing feature on the model.
Thanks very much. I think that I can only get the miles if I order a car, but I’ve already ordered mine. I’ll happily follow the link though if this gets the miles for you.
@@MBrown Ok thank you for the info. And the battery is different than the standard range? I am thinking about purchasing one in Switzerland and Tesla here says that the batteries are different in the LR than SR. I am concerned about how the LR will function in the wintertime.
"if you can use an ipad".... no, i dont use one when I'm driving. Tactile/haptic controls that dont require you to take your eyes off the road to see where you are pressing is surely a safer solution? Also you compare to a mercedes interior as a benchmark. They are more plasticky than BMWs or Audi's I've driven, and prone to squeaks and rattles (my 15000 mile c43 AMG had 3 different annoying interior noises rectified under warranty, and I'm not the Lone Ranger on this one ) I absolutely get the environmental and tech nerd excitement behind a Tesla purchase - after all your video is part of my research so thank you for doing this - but dropping £50k on a car and having squeaks, rattles, random windscreen wiping, panel gaps, and worrying about future paint issues.....it would do my head in. YMMV ! :)
Hey yes it would be nice to have haptic feedback, to be honest the touch controls are pretty large though. I had a Mercedes C250 AMG and loved it, no noise, bumps, or rattles (2015 model with over 100,000 miles) I love a Mercedes interior but I've also had Audis and BMWs. (BMW is solid but always look so dated.) Yeah the Tesla is not as perfect as people make out, but still very very good in my opinion.
I don’t want to have to use an iPad while driving. There are some important functions that should come to hand without taking eyes off the road. Tesla minimalism has been taken too far.
It’s strange but after a while it feels so normal. Everything can be activated by voice too, so for example I can say ‘set temperature to 20c or Navigate to shops etc, so I find I never really need to press anything whilst driving
Hey Alex, I'm away for 2 weeks in Cornwall, (doing a video about the 1000 mile return drive and charging.) Then planning to do that business video, hope this helps
I think a lot of EV owners will tell you something totally different about charging in the UK. Poor infrastructure, not enough points, many out of order, queues for the points when you can find one. We don't have a universal system either - lots of infrastructure run by different companies requiring their own apps and accounts. This isn't even mentioning the different charging rates (none match Tesla superchargers) when you find a working one, and the fact many owners report disconnections and faults during charging itself. What about if you live more rural and have to travel miles to find a charging point? A home charging point is your only option, at whatever additional cost that might be. I'm sure Tesla are years ahead of most other EV manufacturers, but in reality, the world isn't ready for a full EV network.
Hey Tony, yes I think ideally you need to either have a.) home charging or b.) live close to 2-3 public chargers (as I can just leave mine whilst shopping and it’s full on my return) if you’re very rural without any public charging or home chargers it would be very difficult to own it. So far mines been fine! 👍

I have a 2019 LR in black with black seats and would prefer the blue although I’m thinking Model Y next time. :)
Acceleration boost can be felt. Mine is rapid.
Easiest way to find build location is to check the VIN. LRW is China and 5YJ3 is Fremont
Hi Mark compliments on your informative videos, just one question, have you been able to resolve the wiper issues you had? Thanks in advance
Hey Jon thanks very much! The wiper issues have improved a little with software updates, but they're still not great to be honest!
This is a fantastic review and one of the better one's out there for the Tesla Model 3. Very down to earth and real world advice. You should be reviewing EVs for a living!!
Thanks so much really glad you enjoyed the review! Really appreciate it! Currently editing a 900 mile journey in the Tesla… too much footage! 😂
Can see the effort you put into this and it’s class! Well done
Thank you so much, really appreciate it. Yes it looks a long time to film and edit it, so thank you
Another thumbs up and huge THANK YOU for being one of the very few sources on the net to show the after purchase upgrade options and pricing. You have no idea how hard it is to get that info xD
Thanks so much Shaun! Really glad you enjoyed the video!
7 months on FYI. Every single model 3/Y will come from Giga Shangai in the UK. Until Giga Berlin comes online in a few months.
Hey yes mines been pretty good overall (apart some interior squeaks)
I can’t decide between black exterior or blue. What made you decide on black and would you recommend it?
Thank you so much and thanks for your kind words! Welcome to the channel!
Great review! How does the speed boost work?
It’s literally an app download on your iPhone! Open the Tesla app, select the update and boom you’ve got a Ferrari level car
I just noticed the numberplate.. Nice one 😊
Thanks Sean! 👍
ok the black is soooo much better after seeing your video. My order is just a week away but currently with the white (the black is out of stock). Hoping that over the next week somebody cancels their black. I had changed the order so many times, initially was going with performance model, but I think LR + Boost is best option and value for money. I love your review - I am hyped now! Another week is going to last forever.
Thanks Mudassar, and exciting news you’ll be getting your car soon, you’re going to love it! Yes I think you’ve made a great choice there on your options 👍👍
Cant wait for your Performance Upgrade video!
Thanks so much! I think I might do that one in a weeks time?
@@MBrown From what I've seen it ramps up the 0-30 power making it really jump off the line! I'll be ordering one of these for myself in a few months so I'll be sure to keep your referral code handy.
Hi Mark,
I've just purchased this exact vehicle (other than interior colour!) Including made in china, and am awaiting delivery in the next week or so.
Great video Mark, enjoyed your take on the car. Any chance you can do a follow up video on how the white interior is holding up after a few months?
Hey Dean, yes good point! It's holding up well, so will hopefully film that video very soon!
@@MBrown looking forward to the long trip video. Should be getting mine in about 3 -4 weeks
Really well rounded and well designed review. Excited to see more content
Cheers Alex! Thanks a lot! I’ve written about 20 more little videos so more coming soon! 👍
Great video with very professional images. How long it took you to make it ?
Thanks so much Stephane it took about 2-3 weeks of filming bits and bobs and 3 evenings to edit!
First World but makes long journeys so much better.Parking seems better too and I’m happy with my purchase
Speed boost? Wow that upgrade button shouts at me all the time but my wife’s voice constantly saying “ do you really need to go half a second faster?” Stops me wasting £1500!
I will do it😂
Yes I’ve been leaving sentry mode off, but might give it a go overnight, do you find it uses much battery?
I've had a couple of F-Type R's and at the moment i've got a Porsche Macan S. My Model 3 long range is coming in June so it's good to hear that the interior quality is as good. I've not even test driven a Tesla yet so i'm excited but also a bit nervous :) Whereabouts in Cornwall are you going to, as that's where I live. (Redruth)
Hey Mick, that’s great I think you’re going to enjoy it! It’s very different but in a way I’m really enjoying! We’re heading to St Ives! Looking for some office spaces!
No reference to the voice commands? Aren't they available or working in the UK?
Hey thanks for the comment, yes I’m planning on doing a full video going over every command. I wanted to cover it in the next video of Cool things the Tesla can do!

@@MBrown Had it for a week. Have the option to swap for a 2020 Performance. What do you think?
Hi, Mark, great videos, very informative. I'm hoping to soon be able to order a Model 3, but not sure about black or white interior. Does the white reflect in the screen at night? Never seen anyone mention it anywhere, so I presume it's not a problem?
Hey thanks for the great question! So I was worried about the white, but I’ll be honest, I love it, makes it feel very bright and airy. It hasn’t caused any issues at night either (the screen actually changes to a dark mode at night too)
@@MBrown Thanks, Mark. So it's OK on the windscreen at night? I thought the white dash insert might be reflected there?
How did you order your custom plates?
Hey Vineet I ordered mine via the DVLA however you can get them from many places even like eBay. Hope this helps.
when can you choose the acceleration boost? i can't see that option on the website.
Hey Mark, how you doing?
With Premium connectivity is Netflix free to view?
It’s asking me to pay up for it
Hey so it gives you the internet access to be able to play it but you still need to have your own Netflix account separately, hope this helps
@@MBrown oh bugger. Guess the same is with Spotify as well. Thank you for that
Hey yes it’s the same for Spotify too
What a well made video. And what a gorgeous car lol.
Thank you kindly!
Yes it would be good to see some more data on the batteries.
So yes in the U.K. we have white from and yellow back (I think it’s to signify what end of the car you’re looking at and white reflects less light back at you when driving behind it)
The green is on all new EV license plates here but you can remove it.
U r with me in terms of wheels..... I also like the silver one...
Yes I like the colour combo
I don’t charge at home either. It’s not normally an issue. I just charge elsewhere/
Yes I've had mine since March and its been fine not having a home charger.
Found your channel. Not sure if I like the Tesla content or seeing your area of Manchester more. Born and raised couple of miles from there before moving south.
Thanks Steve! Glad you’re enjoying the video!
Hi Mark, great vid as always, just got my model 3 a week ago traded BMW i3 which was great but no comparison to the Tesla, great reg plate fella.
Thanks Andrew! Oh hope you’re enjoying it, yes the model 3 is a nice car!
China model 3 is built much better than USA version!!!....assembly and Paint are very very good!
Yep. Guess where the iPhone is made. (It’s almost a kind of subtle racism assuming China will be worse.)
Enjoyed this, thank you!
Thanks so much Eric!
I can't charge at home either, so it's interesting to see someone else in that situation. Unfortunately free charging is almost nowhere in the Netherlands. At least I have a 9kW EV box closeby, so I think it should suffice if I charge the car over night there and pick it up when I go to work.
Great review, Mark! Just wondering, what's the BHP of the car with the performance boost please? Also, still waiting on that review ;-)
Free 50 kw charge , which part of UK is this .Which company is providing this service ?.
Hey Sam so they actually have them all over. In the North West it’s a company called Be.EV however check your local area using Zap Map. They are mostly 7kw but if you hunt around their might be a 50KW about

My Tesla is the Chinese 2021 model and it doesn't have a heated steering wheel, what.
Thank you! Yes I nearly went for a polestar but ended up with the Tesla! No regrets so far!
I am pleased we are getting the Chinese built models. No offence Americans but you and us in the UK are not exactly renowned for build quality when it comes to cars.

I’m not even sure when the model Y is coming out, but it does look pretty good
That interior is so nice 👍🏻
Thanks so much Jason!
(the public chargers often tell you where the energy comes from, as of course you're right some are power stations etc.)
But at least in a city it will help improve air quality

Hey Sina I went for Black simply as I’d never seen a black one driving around!
@@MBrown I ordered a black sr+ with sport wheels, it took me a long time to settle on black as I was stuck between white and black.

"if you can use an ipad".... no, i dont use one when I'm driving. Tactile/haptic controls that dont require you to take your eyes off the road to see where you are pressing is surely a safer solution?
Also you compare to a mercedes interior as a benchmark. They are more plasticky than BMWs or Audi's I've driven, and prone to squeaks and rattles (my 15000 mile c43 AMG had 3 different annoying interior noises rectified under warranty, and I'm not the Lone Ranger on this one )
I absolutely get the environmental and tech nerd excitement behind a Tesla purchase - after all your video is part of my research so thank you for doing this - but dropping £50k on a car and having squeaks, rattles, random windscreen wiping, panel gaps, and worrying about future paint issues.....it would do my head in. YMMV !
(BMW is solid but always look so dated.)
Yeah the Tesla is not as perfect as people make out, but still very very good in my opinion.
Loving these new changes. It is a great time to get a Model 3.
Hey yes sure is! Seems like some nice small refinements
Great video, thanks. But and it’s a Big but, the price for an every day person is ridiculous,£50000.
