    This is beautiful! If I wanted to add a couple of crackled fondant strips over the buttercream in stripes instead of cover the whole cake, should the pieces be fairly dry and should I add tylose powder?

    Mary, could you tell us how you store all your molds and cake stuff. I am having trouble figuring out what is the best way. Thanks.

      Oh that is a hard one! I have so much stuff that ut never srays organized. 9 do have a lot of plastic tubs that I store things in. I try to keep all the things that are similar together. Molds, letter and number cutters, sugar flower stuff, tap its, ribbon, boards, sculpting tools, you get the idea;) I like to jeep things in seperare containers that I can stack vs like roll carts.

    I’m not a fondant girl except for accents. Would it be possible to do something like this with SMBC like you did with the marble effect?

    • @sophisticakesbymary
      @sophisticakesbymary  3 года назад

      You would not be able to do the crackle effect, but you could maybe do more of a stipple affect with a pastry brush

    dear mary could you tell that what mixture did you use for making cracks on fondant?

    • @sophisticakesbymary
      @sophisticakesbymary  3 года назад

      The crackle really comes from using the creme Brule torch on it. It melts the surface a bit and when it cools and dried it has a little bit of a firmer skin on it. When you roll it, you are creating cracks on that surface.

    Beautiful Beautiful cake...I would of not put the copper paint ....it looked much better without it...just my opinion....but the cake was gorgeous either way! Good Job!!

    That looks like a very expensive cake! Will you charge "extra" for this design when you do it for a client?

    • @sophisticakesbymary
      @sophisticakesbymary  3 года назад

      Oh yes, you have to compensate their your time and the supplies needed. I start with a base price for a plain frosted cake and add on from there.

    I absolutely love your work but I don't understand why you painted red in the white long cracks? To be it would have looked stunning without the red. It made it look like blood almost. Respectfully, Amy. I am a fan!

      It was copper luster dust and I just like to add metalic a lot.
