I love the look of fenders on bikes that have the classic vintage bike look - A slim, steel bike with racks and fenders look classic, especially if theyre silver. otherwise I agree, they just clunk up the bike. But for where I'm riding, fenders are an absolute must.

I’m in Wisconsin here in the US, we get a decent amount of snow but the ice is the real problem. I’ve found that the best tire for keeping my bones intact are the metal studded tires from Schwalbe

I actually mostly like the looks of fenders for some types of steel MTB commuter bikes. Especially the black steel wrap around types i've got myself. They just barely fit the Schwalbe Super Moto X 26x2.40 tires (which I like for winter commuting, they roll reasonably well and are grippy, with great puncture protection). Chrome fenders can look good too, if you have lot's of chrome/silver parts/details.

I have now followed you for a while and watched alot of your videos. I belive, you have the best build videos. I have found some other great builders but their videos are not as consistantly good as yours. Keep it up. Keep on inspiring us and great to see your channel is groving. Br from Norway :D I hope the next one is a partically good one :D hehe

Always have options! I sweat like crazy while commuting to work (what's party pace?) so having clothes to change into at work is clutch. Also along with lights, hi-vis clothing as well like the jacket you have. I have a construction/road-worker vest for when it's dreary/ gray/ raining.

Aluminum fenders look good on vintage randonneur bikes and that's about it. They're an eyesore but absolutely necessary when it's cold and wet

I just ordered a set of sks bluemels. I'm happy for the extra fitting faff as they look clean. I've gotta have them nice and close to the tyre too for looks. I hate mudguard gap!!
I wouldn't mind a video about winter bike survival... For real people, none of this clean your chain after every time it gets wet rubbish. For me, I just keep adding oil until winter is over, then replace - no one's got time to clean a chain in the cold every day!

Mudguards on all my bikes always. I take them off the racing bike for actual races, but otherwise, 100%. My most recent install was some SKSs or whatever you showed, which I got for free from someone, and they're wicked.
The main thing about their appearance is that they should match one of the bike colours pretty well. Could be the frame colour or the accent, or maybe the tyre wall colour (so black is usually safe). After that they blend into the look. But - my bikes look much less pretty than yours 😅

Can confirm Chrome Indusries bags are the best! I used to have a Manhattan Portage messenger bag, and the Chrome is far superior.
    Amazingly good quality and construction.

Check out the Peoples Poncho. Fold it away if not in use. I prefer the to ride using my K-Way jacket and hi-viz vest, make sure it is a BS EN.... Safe riding folks.

The looks of fenders isn't an issue for me, I don't care what my bike looks like, but I do care about getting a spray of wet mud or worse sprayed all over me.

I used to pedal to work rain light snow. I used an old T.H.E fender on the front and rear one til I got the sks ones. They to me are the best I got mine at a thrift store new for 5.99 new in package I was shocked. I like the fenders but if you flip your bike to fix the fender drags be careful. My tires I used was the low profile knobs I used maxxis ones in winter. I use the slime thing I use it in my tire

Fenders look better than no fenders imo. I'm talking nice fenders, like Velo Orange or Honjo with perfect fender line. Autumn rain riding just sucks ass. Too wet to not wear rain gear, too hot to wear rain gear 🤦‍♂

Lifetime commuter, too many bikes all drop bar jobbies. Sabbath Silk Route TI tourer, looks naked without full guards, got a Spa Cycles Elan, tried without, also looks naked without full guards, then again the tyres are 700 32 c so a pair of fat tyres would fill the gap. Ribble endurance TI with carbon aero c50 wheels, aye it's bling, sorry...It could take guards but if I did I'd have to set myself on fire as punishment, will never ever fit guards...ever..with an egg on top. Old Speshy Tricross..no guards ...have done but the have the same effect that wearing a green tank top does. This is when you learn that the opposite of cool is not hot. Clothing, in the dark colours matter not, that high viz green wont cut it. Reflective strips do, if it bounced light it can be black even, it will be seen. Tyres: the compound matters in the cold, four season tyres help. Overshoes and gloves, good gloves, if you find a good pair let me and everyone else know, winter cycling gloves are insulated on the top and that's important. That UK road crud is lethal, clean your drive train or lose it, clean your wheel rims with rim brakes or wheel death with become a thing. Love your vids mate, hope you bees waxed the frame on that beautiful Stayer,,,ahem...not that it's any of my business.

No one loves the look of fenders.
    Tolerates? Accepts? Copes with?
Putting fenders on my mountain bike to commute ended up being a combination of the removable sks fender mounts and the 75mm wide sks fenders. Did require some finagling, but I stay dry on wet roads with 2.8" tyres. And they come off and on in minutes. So well chuffed with that bit of work.
I use the winwing when I'm riding single-track or bridleways. It also required some remoulding in boiling water to widen the gravel arch to fit said 2.8" tyres without clicking on the cornering knobs.
Currently investigating front fender options for the suspension fork when the full fenders aren't on.
Couple with layering of ponchos, soft shells, 2.5 layer jacket, windproof fronted vest and waterproof socks... works right up until you get splashed by traffic or water ends up inside the socks.
So I carry a travel towel and spare socks on the really damp days.

Plastic Fenders all look so bad and will just break as the plastic deteriorates.
You have to spend for quality that will last multiple seasons.
    Honjo, Portland design works etc.
