Starting with the Look frame is a great idea for almost all average weekend cyclists and any upgrades to the quoted spec I would make would be the wheels - Ryots or Zipp 303 for me. I prefer mechanical groupset and cabling really doesn't bother me or make much of a difference in aero performance below 40km/h, plus its sooo much easier to take your bike on a plane when the handlebar and stem can be removed easily.

Also exposed under downtube with no housing protecting the cable on it shorting cable lifespan from dirt/elements. Always prefer ease of service for when needed over fully integrated setup.

The Mapdec special is a very good option although I wouldn't be "cycling to work" on it - way too good for that. The 58cm scott addict edurance geometry frame is great at what it does. Rides smooth as butter. But it's not what I would call racy.
I don't want whipet a race frame that I'll snap in half because I weigh 200 times its weight. I want a solid frame that doesn't flex when I'm sprinting and a geometry that won't leave me with a chimney. The geo on the look looks perfect, but it doesn't seem to have the stout but Still race dna I'm looking for.

I personally don't see an integrated handlebar / stem as a positive. As someone who has built up both of his own bikes, I will always take standardized parts over any kind of proprietary bullshit. Love that partial internal routing of the frame, but the press fit bottom bracket is a non-starter for me - I still cannot for the life of me see what is wrong with threaded BB shells.

“The bitterness of poor quality remains long after the sweetness of low price is forgotten” is a quote attributed to Benjamin Franklin. It means that consumers often have to choose between the quality of a product or service and the price they must pay.
Some say that it's important to consider price, quality, service, and reputation when making a purchase. They also say that it's best to buy from a company that has the client's best interests at heart and offers the best long-term value.

Back in 2016, you could get a brand new 105 mechanical equipped rim brake bike for under £1000 on the cycle to work scheme. Liz Truss' budget aside, the inflated value of £1000 then is roughly £1,350. Bike pricing has gone mad

I'm getting this frame at 1200 pounds. Looks like a good deal. But I just realised that this is a different geometry than the new one. I like the newer geometry with obviously a cleaner head tube and fork. Saw your review on the 2024 edition and was convinced of the bike.
