Fractures and tooth cracks can occur in different parts of the tooth and can affect its survival. A dental fissure is a cracking in the tooth where there is no detachment of the tooth structure.
What types of chipped teeth are there?
These fractures and tooth cracks can be:
00:13 from the root obliquely,
00:16 from the crown extending the fracture line below the gum,
00:27 from the crown with the fracture line above the gingiva,
00:38 from the apex of the root vertically,
00:49 of the crown horizontally,
01:01 and from the crown vertically extending to the roots.

What are the symptoms of a tooth crack?
On many occasions tooth cracks are microscopic and can go unnoticed with the naked eye or on X-rays. Normally the fissure does not break the affected tooth, which appears healthy, but causes acute pain when eating or drinking cold things and when chewing.
What is the treatment of dental fractures and cracked tooth?
Depending on the type of fracture, it can have several treatments, from a reconstruction, a root canal or even the extraction of the tooth. It is important to detect the tooth cracks in time, since if they are not treated they can cause a fracture of the tooth. If a fracture affects only the crown of the tooth, it could be treated with a reconstruction and / or endodontics. If the fracture affects the crown and root, the treatment will usually be tooth extraction.
How can chipped tooth and fissured be prevented?
To prevent them, it is advisable to follow a series of guidelines:
- Use mouth guards in case of contact sports.
- In the case of bruxism or teeth grinding, the use of a night splint can minimize the risk of suffering a fracture or tooth crack. It would be advisable to treat the cause of bruxism.
- Avoid biting hard things like ice, corn, bones etc.
- Avoid opening packaging or cutting things with your teeth. Use scissors.

First had a cavity on my right molar, been keeping it for a year now. Then.. my gums had gotten painful and swollen around my left molar all of sudden. Days after the swelling went away, I just chewed on a chewy candy and didn't know half of the tooth had detached until I felt the piece on my tongue. Now I realize I might have developing cavities on that left molar.

My right wisdom tooth broke last week and lemme tell u that shit hurts the point I cried it was during my job I had went home the second time it happened but I gotten worse the first time it wasn’t that bad but it did hurted so I told the dentist to take it out

i had these 2 weeks ago on lower 1st molar. pain for 3 days when bite but not pain if not bite. the doc said if i wanted to extract it or fillings. i'm so stupid to ask extract didn't think the consequences if not replace a tooth. the pain gone but a huge gap there loosing my chew ability. i'm depress and remorseful. add to my anxiety is whether to get implants or denture. i want my chewing ability back cause i love eating. i want to get implants but i heard is pain and have to wait a year to finish. idk what to do because u can't delay for 3 months for implants. guys please help i'm stress and depress. god bless u

I’m worried a piece of my tooth broke out of no where yesterday , I didn’t even hit it , I just felt something loose and pushed with my tounge and a piece came out 😢 and today I tried flossing it and another piece came out :( I’m so worried I’m not good with surgery but it doesn’t hurt so I don’t understand

No they gave me a dental crown 👑 no surgery and I didn’t feel any pain with anesthesia but they charging me 1500 :( they already took 1000 I just have one last appointment left
@@MrAlex230187 mine broke off in pieces. I didn't do anything. It hurt like shit for a week but once the nerves died the rest eventually came out.. it's towards the back so u can't really tell. I have a missing tooth but in think the root is still up there.

Yes I had a crack didn’t know once it was hurting when I bite my food and one day I put a piece of gum and then my tooth broke had a deep filling just recently root canal😂

Depends on how it happened and how old you are. So if you are young like (8 -16 year old) go outside for a walk then come back with an excuse saying you fell down and crack your tooth, that stuff. Just don't let the crack stay there OK.
Just get it fixed as fast as you can! Speaking from personal experience I cracked a tooth and neglected it and it ended up getting abscessed! One half of my face was completely swollen and the worst part is that it burst when I was taking a nap. The taste of the pus woke me up :( go to a dentist ASAP it'll be okay
