As you mentioned the trust issues with the Daniel Smith brand. I was such a HUGE fan prior to the controversy!!! I was so...conflicted weather to continue using them, but I do love the granulation their brand is known for! I have now begun to spray my pieces with a UV fixative/varnish, to counter any lightfastness issues. It seems to work with little to no colour shift! Just for my piece of mind!!!

I honestly wouldn't trust UV spray in the long run. If the pigments are not lightfast to begin with then I wouldn't trust it to be sold but that's up to you. Thank you for watching 🙂

I do stay away from fugitive pigments for the most part, but on the off chance I use one I will spray them. I do get your point though!

@@natlisan the problem is you never know with Daniel Smith primatech line. That's why I don't purchase from that line but even colors in the mainline that have been said to be lightfast like PR177 are actually fugitive. You can't trust paint labels and that's sad. Not just DS but all art materials. That's why I'm conducting my own lightfast testing on nearly all the leading brands of watercolor and colored pencils as well. If you're interested be sure to subscribe because the results of that testing will be a full series on my channel coming as soon as the results are in.

I love daniel smith and thought they gained integrity when they told people if you don't like it don't make money off them in RUclips. Monkey see, monkey do. I'm proud of Daniel smith.
Twenty years ago that type of company response would have lost me as a customer, but today's fake ass society needed a good kiss my ass moment. Like these people pretending to be vegan. Mofo you couldn't breathe without animal death because oxygen wouldn't exist. You couldn't paint or draw negate ink, graphite, paper, wood brush handles, plastic brush handles, synthetic pigments wouldn't exist if animals didn't die. Ignorance is one thing but wilfully ignorance is quiet another.
      People crack me up.
I wish they would have just told people pretend it's climate friendly and vegan and you'll be okay lol.

    It's beautiful colors!

On the theme of lightfastness, the Aussie Red Gold loses it's intensity after just four months in a window sill. It becomes significantly duller. I'm assuming PY83 is the culprit there. It's disappointing. And I feel the same regarding how DS handled things as you and the other person commenting on it!

I'm terribly disappointed 😔 I'm their labeling. I've lost trust in them.

@@hannahthufvesson I am incredibly grateful that you gave me this information. I'm devastated because I spent weeks on a hyper realistic painting of peaches which cannot be sold now due to the Aussie red gold color being used. Just another example of how you have to do your own lightfast testing and never trust the companys because this tube was rated as a lightfast 1. I do have a light fast testing series coming up on the channel as currently I am testing all the leading brands of watercolor and several brands of color pencil if you're interested. I'm usually so diligent about testing all of my paints and doing all my research on pigments but this is just one that just so happened to slip under my radar. ( The Aussie red gold)

@@nicolemartinart5819 I'm really sorry, that utterly sucks! Is it impossible to scan and make prints?
And I agree regarding doing your own lightfastness tests, I'm absolutely interested in seeing your results! Did you paint them only in masstone or diluted as well? 🙂
