Coach Matt Z, I have watched a lot of video here on RUclips and have learned a lot from them. But for some reason I find your videos and explanations a lot more practical and easy to understand. Last week watches one of your explainer videos on how to do turns and, today I can do the turns with so much ease and confidence. Please keep up the good mate. Love your channel. 🫡 👍
Thank you so much for your kind words! So happy you have gotten value out of the channel. It can be hard to put a video together and package it in a way that it gets to the right people. So glad to hear it is helping! Keep swimming!
Hey Matt -- the EVF thing really clicked for me after a couple years of *almost* getting there when I watched Rowdy Gaines describe it as wrapping your arm over a barrel and pulling the barrel back. I immediately got a lat strain, so I that's some pretty good evidence of better engagement. I think that visualization only worked for me because of all the work I put into it prior to thinking about barrels though. -z
Yes! I’ve used that analogy also. I’ve also heard - reaching over a beach ball and pushing it back. If you’re feeling it in your big back muscles you’re doing something right. Keep it up!
Or some describe like an earth mover scooping out a load to get the feeling of grabbing onto the water in your reach phase and propelling it backwards with your entire body force
I swim in a 50 free lcm pool in 24.~ seconds, but my legs are not hardy, because of this I don't know how to improve swimkick in the water, how to improve swimkick endurance in the water?
Good question. If you want to improve your kicking endurance, do a lot of kicking. I would also incorporate some dry land training to build strength. Squats, lunges, jump squats, step ups…start doing these to strengthen your legs. You should also do some stretching to improve your leg and ankle flexibility.
