This was James Dean's favourite song in 1955. When he was making "Giant" in Marfa, Texas, they'd all sit around in their free time, and sing this song. I was born in 1960, but I love this song too. 😊
I was born 1954 I was brought up on all these great legend singers and true country songs. What they have been playing as country songs for what the past 15 or so years isn't true country music. I sure miss the old days when music was simpler.
This dude's vocal skills are nuts. I'm traditionally not a huge country person, but was listening to some Willie Nelson and Eddy Arnold came on ( through spotify ), and he's really got one of the most interesting voices I've heard in the genre.
I was born in 1953. My father. who was big Eddy Arnold Fan, would rock me to sleep when my mom was too tired, singing this song🙂 The day he passed away in 2006, the song was being played on the radio. So every time I hear the song reminds me of how much I miss him.
2024 me and my friend were driving through idaho and going through lola pass this was the only song we could get through those mountains at 3am Definitely a memory I won't forget with a river running up the mountain
You know it ,Dad enjoy playing 8 track player in 1976 Chrysler Newyorker ,Harry Hibbs music,s ,listen to it ,make,s me feel better, all over, like John Cash sung,s that tune.
I remember as a boy My grandmother loved Eddy Arnold and everytime I hear his words I start to cry because she's not here to listen with me anymore. She feels so close to me right now 😅 😢
I will be 65 on my birthday that was my mother's favorite song and mine . I love it with him and LeAnn Rimes also I just heard a Spanish version sung by an older gentleman that was excellent as well on
My mother used to sing this song while she was vacuuming the house. Her voice was operatic worthy. I, in turn, sang this song when the female troops needed to wake up throughout basic training. Bizarre to thing they’ll be singing it to their troops.
Growing up our backyard was adjacent to the local horsemen'sassociation. On Saturdays they would have "play day" and we would watch from the backyard. This song was a favorite. I have not heard it in 50 years but I've never forgotten it. Wonderful to hear it again!

An eternal loved by all who heard Eddy singing it - immediately brings the moonlight skies to mind and soft lowing of the cattle..... Eternal thanks Eddy and band.....
I first heard this when it came out in the 1950s. I enjoy Eddie Arnold's vocals. My favorite that he sang was Good Night Irene. I remember this song was on the jukebox in a tavern outside Ft. xxxx. I would drink long neck Buds when listening to it.
Such a handsome fella I love this song I'm dressed up as a cowgirl and I said that Eddie was my boyfriend and that he is my boyfriend and has a new song called the cattle call with my made up southern accent
I was born in 1951 and I would sing to the record (which I still have) while my Dad would play the mouth organ. ❤
I was born in 1950. I remember hearing this song on the radio when I was five. A wonderful memory.
I too was 5 when it came out
The first song I really remember hearing and knowing right off the bat.
GOD bless sir :)
You sir are blessed to be born at the height American exceptionalism. The envy of the world.
God Bless You...I remember my drunken daddy... trying to remember this classic in the 70's! and improvising his own lyrics!

As a wee little girl, I used to listen to him sing this! As a young woman, I moved to Nashville and he ended up being my back door neighbor!

I miss these great country artists from the 50's, 60's and 70's! Today's country singers just don't measure up.
I can,t agree with you more
Check out Zephaniah Ohora .
You won’t be disappointed .
Gone with the wind
I have an absolute conviction that good things are limited and rarely last
My mom loved Eddy Arnold’s voice. She sang all the time in the kitchen and is probably the reason I do to this day.
I saw the Zillow commercial also and I remember my dad singing this l am 65 now.
Ah, the old music. GREAT.
This was dad’s go to song and we sang along!

I have been looking for this song for over 45 years . I fell over backwards today, when I finally heard it again !
😳🤯💥😳❤👍🏻
I will be 65 on my birthday that was my mother's favorite song and mine . I love it with him and LeAnn Rimes also I just heard a Spanish version sung by an older gentleman that was excellent as well on
My father use to sing this to me, complete with the yodel. This brings tear to my eyes.
He was with Elvis Presley when Elvis did his very first public outdoor show which happened to be in Memphis Tennessee (July 30th 1954)
My favorite version I heard this as a kid too and I was born in Oct. 1946.
This bring back so many childhood memories. My parents played this song a lot.
Same here
This just takes you back to a better place in time.
Today I was at State Convention for FFA. A kid sang this for the state talent show. It was so good
Zillow commercial brought me here. Thank you!

Born in 1946, and remember hearing Eddie Arnold yodeling this at noon when Foster oil sponsored radio news with Edward R Murrow❤️😇
I still love this old " Western" music!

In memory of Lyle Dewane Batty. My Very Best Friend. I sure miss you Partner wearing of the Badge 121.

He had the best voice❤
My mom had such a crush on him...

Fantastic! Yodeling, cattle calls, field holler etc seems to have been lost from American music
Texas a & m university school song has a whoop in it.
In 2021, about the only placed to hear yodeling on TV is that mountain-climber game on "The Price is Right."
This song popped into my head tonight for some reason.. I remember this song from the 1950's
I even like the static from the old reel.
This was a huge hit for Eddy!❤
1918-2008
Traditional Country at it`s best.
Cowboys used to sing to the cattle to keep them calm at night when storms or coyotes were close.
Why didn’t they just shoot the coyotes? Then they can use the hide to make hats and warm jackets.
The inspiration for Sweet baby James.
Love his music; 😊
Que surpresa agradável .
Obrigado
