Fix: Camaro struggles to start when hot

- This is a common issue with the 5th gen Camaro’s! After a drive it struggles to start! Which can also through a service stabilitrack code and rpm go to 0. If you have a slow start up issue after driving the car this may be your fix! Do this repair at your own risk!
Feel free to comment below if you have any questions!
I've replaced the starter twice, added ground to the starter and another ground to the trunk from the battery. It would seem to fix the problem but the problem would come back.
Fixing the positive cable under the hood, like in the video. Fixed my problem. Do this first, it must be the main culprit of the issue. Finally an actual fix for me.
For me it was Slow crank/throwing codes when hot and going into limp mode.
That’s awesome! I’m glad you got it squared away 🤝🔥
I found what was causing it in my Australian built Holden VY SS Commodore which is fitted with the 5.7 litre Chevrolet LS1 V8 engine, the nut for the starter motor cable was loose on the solenoid,I tightened the nut up which fixed the problem.
I decided to check it while I was changing the oil today !
Man you just don’t no .. last 5 years I been trying to figure out what’s wrong with my car.. you by it on the nail
Awesome! Glad I could help 🍻
Bro thank you 1 million times I have a 416 stroker Camaro that just got its third engine put in and we were having this problem we replace the battery the alternator and starter now we’re going to try this and we’re pretty sure this will fix the problem!!
Awesome man! I hope this helps you because mine has been running great for over a year now! Let me know!
Great video, Caleb shared it with me. I’m going to have to try this as well. Hope to see some more content from you. Looks like a bad ass 5th Gen!
Thank you man I appreciate that! I want to upload some on my custom carbon Camaro steering wheels I make next
Synergy Green V8, how rare! Aside from the TT setup, obviously…. Imagine if it was a manual at that.
Been trying to figure this out for the last 6 years. I think this is going to work because what I have been doing is just carrying a mini jump starter and the car starts immediately with a little extra juice. It's embarrassing getting out and opening my hood every time I turn it off. Added an extra ground a long time ago.. never helped.
I can almost guarantee this is your problem. My car has been solid for a couple years now. Let me know how it goes, good luck!
@@brandonsandoval2661 thanks man, I sent you a DM on Instagram. From Vortex.
I've had a hot start issue in my 2016 ss and replaced the battery couple times per the dealership warranty and advise. Eventually had to buy a starter and wrap it in heat wrap but it still wasn't the issue the fix for me was adding ground and beefing up the other one. Never came close to the issue happening again.
Yea! A ground alone seems to definitely fix it!
Nice video. I'm thinking of adding that ground cable from starter to Fram. What gauge was that cable from starter to frame I have a BTR STAGE 4 BLOWER CAM getting ready for a pro charger. Just having those HOT STARTS issues. I see that gm is in a lawsuit for this issue wit starters.
Thank you! I believe it was about a 4 gauge iirc. That’s a badass set up man! Goodluck!
I have the same issue on a Hyundai Accent 2004. Would you recommend trying something like this on that? Thanks
My cabl that goes to the alternator to back of block then all
The way to the fuse box burnt and I can’t find it anywhere I need help asap
They are two separate wires. Search 2010 Camaro positive battery wire. Hope this helps!
@@brandonsandoval2661 I thought it was that one as well but that’s the one that wires all the way to the back to the battery
I think a good idea would be a car audio style inline fuse ,you could actually mount it and not have to worry about it being grounded to anything
An enclosure would make sense however I wouldn’t want to run the main hot through a fuse. The amount of amps needed to run the car would have to be a decent size fuse
Hola yo puse tierra al motor tambien hice el bypass del cable positivo y sigue con el problema, cuando el auto esta frio enciende bien, pero cuando esta caliente no enciende como sin bateria
Did you run a clean ground from the starter to frame?
So did this help with the hot start? I have a 415 stroker in my 2010 ss and i hate driving it anywhere cause of the got start problem ive even went as far as to put a gear reduction starter on and that still didnt help.
Yes! It 100% fixed my issue. Best thing I ever did. I put a 427 in my Camaro and it starts every time no hesitation! Add a ground and direct the hot. You won’t regret it!
@@brandonsandoval2661 i have the extra ground already but ill be doing the direct hot as you did come first thing Saturday morning. Thanks for the video and reply!
@@calebstokes5846 for sure man. If you have any questions or problems let me know! I’m on Instagram and Facebook. Bmoney_beatz
@@brandonsandoval2661 thanks dude
Man i really appreciate that video! I did my power cable like yours and drove around for 2hrs just enjoying the weather got home waited 5min and it busted off like never before, still skeptical i waited 10min and it started right up with no hesitation!!!!! You are the man!
Having the same issue right now
I would be able to contact you
@@rafaelgaeta6280 it work for you?
I’m having this same problem, but my car is 2010 CAMARO 3.6, just tested battery and it’s good, brand new starter. You think this will solve my problem also? Thank you for the video. NEW SUBSCRIBER AND A THUMBS UP.
Thanks for the Sub! This could be a ground issue on your car. I’d start with a new ground. Is the car stock?
@@brandonsandoval2661 yes sir it’s stock!!
@@brandonsandoval2661 grond from where tho
I replaced a negative battery cable in the trunk with a thick cable I made myself and that seemed to fix the problem.
i think ill do this and delete the bracket I will have more room for a bigger air filter on my procharger.
I would love to twin Turbo my car but I don't want to deal with all the shit under the hood.
Your intake manifold looks like a LS7 intake do you have a 427 in your car?
Yes! It’s a ERL 427 with mast 305 LS7 style heads. I’m going to a high ram whenever it comes in. I finally eliminated all the heat issues under the car so the turbos are amazing!
@@brandonsandoval2661 Bad-ass car man. How much booster are you running and how much horsepower is it making?
@@jaimeedwards1269 thank you man! It’s turned down on 7 pounds made 798 on pump gas. Will be switching to E85 now with that manifold. Going for 1,300
is adding the ground necessary for this to work?
Yes
Your starter is heat soaked. I had the same problem. Went and bought a ctsv starter and problem gone. Or you can wrap your starter.
Unfortunately that is incorrect, I put a $400 high torque TCI starter with a heat blanket around the starter and it still struggled. After the fixes in the video it’s perfect!
Does the v6 has this problem or is it just the V8?
Iam having it with a v6!
@@israelortiz7408 did you figure it out?
I have the same problem when the engine is hot and diagnosis says Crankshaft position sensor lol and my battery is brand new and brand new Camaro 6 generation lol
Lol mine used to say the same error usually. The slow crank freaks out the crank sensor I’m assuming
@@brandonsandoval2661 If you let the engine to be cold a little 10 or 15 minutes the cold start will be fine again I don't know why.
If this fixes my issue I'ma be pissed.
Did it work?
