Don't be afraid to make mistakes. That's how we learn. Your not going to create the Starry Night on you first, second, third or even 10th time. Don't be so hard on yourself. If you get stressed on something, put your pencils down and come watch Sarah. (Not saying this because it's Sarah's page, I actually mean it. When I get art block Sarah's RUclips is one of the ones I come to watch to relax and get inspired. I don't color color pages, I draw my own things, but Sarah's coloring page videos works really well for tips for even your own art work.)

Don't pressure yourself! You aren't going to be perfect in a day, as long as you love what you do and keep learning you're going to be amazing. (This goes for everything)
Keep going. I recently added a color I never used before after putting in close to 20 hours on a page. Thought I ruined it and almost threw it in the trash.Took a few days of thinking ..... but I finally decided to keep going and finish. It turned out better than I thought it would, and the new color DID make the page pop. Happy now that I followed through. Learned a lot from this.
Don't worry if you're not able to create a masterpiece on your first try.
Yeah, see, no, I'm my biggest critic and expect every piece of art I make to be a top quality masterpiece.
Which is just insanity since I haven't drawn in 16 years. 😅

These are great tips!! I've been practicing colored pencils and this has helped tons!
So I got into an argument with someone who went to school for art, and he said there should be no white on a piece, or very minimal, like 2 to 3 small spots where light is heavily reflecting, because I put a couple of white highlights into some hair

Where do you put highlights? Would love a tutorial because I struggle to figure out where to put them and what “shape” they should be.

Another tip! Shadows do parts darker and the opposite side of the paper there in most cases should be highlights!
