A tip I learned from playing solo that new players might not know is that instead of going all the way down to your map table to check if you are going the right way you can get on the back of your boat behind the maker and look straight down at the map table from there!😊
Learning the tip with the monkey helped me convince my friend to buy one. They named it Sephiroth and gave it a banana costume :)
That’s a dumb name

Earlier today I made a pretty epic comeback in a 1v1 against another solo sloop in hourglass.
I had my mast broken with my port side facing an island, and my starboard side facing the enemy, who was endlessly firing upon me with their sails raised, so I had to come up with a plan.
I could not recover completely with their constant fire, but what I could do was distract them, so I turned my ship so port side was facing them and repaired the holes on starboard, that meant my hull would fill just that bit slower, giving me time when he needed to restock on cannonballs to return fire between bailing, forcing him to repair as well. My top priority was killing the other player, and eventually, after some well-aimed cannon fire at the points he was firing from and repairing, I did just that, and without any returned fire towards me, I sent a cannonball into every square inch of his hull, which just so happened to be starboard, and thus, he was overwhelmed by the amount of water pouring in, and sunk.
Let me tell you, it felt AMAZING, the fact I was completely immobilised and under constant fire and yet I managed to turn the fight around completely using an improved strategy and win felt like a truly legendary victory.
Are u a fucking npc?
Good other tips I've also accumulated.
Don't be afraid to not do a death spiral. Sometimes when fighting bigger ships, especially a galleon, if the other crew is even somewhat decent and you get into their broad, it'll be a bad bad time(even for duo players). You can indeed park infront of them but off to the sides to avoid broad. If they are spinning to match angle, you can also stop the spiral to break their angle, then target the wheel to keep them spinning(though might be harder to do both solo). This still works for sloop hourglass.
Also, its not just the grate of the ship that is worrying, its the walk way to mid deck as well that makes it tough. If you are downstairs while your opponent is not, it is ridiculously easy to just sit there and wait the moment to shoot you through the stairs as you run up.
When you're solo, it is especially crucial to NOT die. Don't worry too much on getting back on cannons if you are constantly being pressured there. Take your time, take some snipes, rep holes they're not shooting(front and back). You do NOT need to stay on cannons 100% of the time, especially if it can risk getting you killed(I've done this many times).
This 100%. You absolutely do need to return pressure though when you can, otherwise you risk getting boarded. Learning to doge cannonballs while reloading is key for this. Most importantly though, don't get greedy with it if you have too many holes. I'm guilty of this. Give em 2 or 3 cannonball and then go back to bucket/rep. Repeat until you can start applying more pressure. I've died a bunch because I got greedy and wanted to send 1 too many cannons and sunk because I underestimated my water fill rate :/
@@TheHammerofDissidence This is understandable, and you are completely right. You do need to have adequate pressure on the enemy boat in order to prevent them from boarding. In most realistic and likely to happen situation, it would be a sloop v sloop on solo hourglass. Just 1-2 t3 is enough to get the enemy player off of trying to board. It is also good to just let go of cannons and leave it for a bit. A good spot to run to is the front of the ship, since people tend to hit anywhere from cannonline to wheel more often. Plus, you'd have a clearer view for dodging.
Another thing about solo sloop hourglass is that it is just as important to keep up with reps. Rep holes that you think the enemy won't hit again for a bit, like right holes, front, back, and occasionally hatch holes. While it is true that most of the holes you patched will be opened anyways, it is good to also acknowledge that less boat and water pressure = smoother and longer time on the cannons. A lot of people aren't aware of this and are way too passive with their patching, leading them to be at a disadvantage. One example of this is when the enemy I was fighting stayed for too long on cannons, and actually just let me rep more and more as he could not stay on for long. Eventually, I got main repped up and sent for a board, to which he sank from water pressure.
A bonus would be to snipe enemy off cannons to relieve pressure, though this is just a bonus, it still can have some pretty good benefits to your game.
I got about 300 hours as a solo slooper, my best advice is to just run whenever you see sails on the horizon. Most people eventually give up on chasing
So you have 300 hours of running? That's 300 hours of nothing to help you improve lol, I suck at PvP but I've been improving by getting into as many situations as I can.
@@tachi5408 true, but it's also 300 hours of not wasting time losing loot :P
Geeze you sound like you would be fun at a party
Bro I really wish I found more people who eventually give up on chasing. In the last 10 days I've had two ships follow me for about 1h30 nonstop, and neither of them got anything from that pursuit. I can't find out where's the fun in that tbh
@@guaka25 the fun is in the chase
I do this every time I start a session for hourglass is I get a storage crate,go to a sea fort, get the wood, cannonballs, and the floor and basement barrels, over 200+balls plus full inventory of pineapples
Same. Sea forts are super good for supplies. Zero chainshots tho.
One time when I was getting to pirate legend I had a grade 5 gold hoarders on my ship and my friend left, little did I know he left a banana on the cooker and forgot to take it off. After completing the voyage I looked over the hill and saw my ship completely on fire and before I could get back it was sunk 😭😭😭😭
I have 1k hours of solo slooping and I liked everything you said except for if you are being death sprialed. I personally prefer to have my mast knocked down and then set my wheel at the same speed as them. They will at first feel like they are going to win and then you pummel them knock their mast down and then stop spinning and let them spin in place so you don’t even have to move but you can hit them at every side. Most people can’t come back from this and just don’t let them get on cannons. The multi shot cannon balls are great at close range to add more holes.
The other important thing about keeping one side to the enemy is less holes means less water. One side can only have so many holes. So keeping the damaged side to them prevents you from taking an obscene amount of water and limits the pressure they apply through water
I learned those lessons the hard way but man i wish this video was out when i started this is so well put out ima share this to all my friends who pickup the game 👌🏼
My personal tip: Don't be scared to run if you don't feel like fighting. You don't owe anyone anything
This works unless they chase you for hours, my friend and I legit got chased for 2 hours when we were merchant emissaries with animal cargo. We even told them all we have is animals and they kept chasing us.
@@JohnWick-kb5jr Had the same situation some days ago. I loaded everything on the rowboat, drove behind an island, took a last look at the map and steered right into the red sea. Then rowboated my way to the outpost with them chasing the ship and probably thinking im a dickhead for just sinking the loot. Little do they know that they just got outsmarted
I Honestly run solo a vast majority of the time which I can def say has increased my own skills and knowledge exponentially, I really think everyone should do solo sloop every so often as its an amazing way to build up knowledge on how to do any role you may end up with
In my experience, caffeine makes my performance worse. It makes me more anxious and I keep fumbling. Now I have a prescription of anxiolytic medication and I take a low dose of it before I go hourglass and that keeps me a bit calmer which prevents me from making stupid choices and I find that it 100% balances out the slower reaction times. And if I lose, I'm less prone to being bitter and I laugh it off instead. I also like to try to joke during the fight in VC because I'm there to have fun and get better, can that distract my opponent? Maybe, but I'm not counting on it. I'm really just trying to make it more fun for me and if they find it funny too, it's a win.
Also engaging in toxic behavior, while it is natural to feel like you need to vent off your frustration, it doesn't make you better, it doesn't turn your defeat into a win, you're just letting it effect you. So you're better off not taking the fight seriously at all and keep your sanity. And if your adversary is being a salty bitch nugget, just report them in game, takes a few seconds only.
Also this game really isn't fit for serious competitiveness, the rubberbanding, cannon reload not registering, inexplicably high ping, hit registration etc. Sometimes you die and it's not fair, can't help it and being an asshole to your opponent really won't fix it.
We love a sneaker upload ❤ great vid :)
In Hourglass From my expierience if ur not winning most of ur fights u shouldnt stock ur ship up to long since its easy to get burned out if u always take 10 minutes to stock up just to get sunk instandly once u get better u can do it tho
1:58 put the puke in a bucket (puke while holding bucket) and toss it on boarders to blind them while you kill them
My job is harder as a solo slooper and here's why: I have to do the regular solo slooping things, BUT my pc can give up at anytime, the game runs at around 30 fps with 100 avg ping. beat that
If you get the bug where you can't pull out the supply crate from the merchant you can fix it by just buying something else to make the game recognize the purchase. I like to buy crates 1st so I can buy captain supplies to fix the bug when it happens.
So underated, top-noch editing!
the direction a ship turns when hit by a blunderbomb is actually based off its relative position compared to sea dogs tavern. no clue why lol
Simple strategy that's useful for any battle you want to get your shots accurately fired before they can put them on the defensive and keep them there. Keep the pressure on them the entire time best you can
And be wary of counter-attacks
If you could put them on the defensive and you can keep them there. It's only a matter of time before they go down
Thanks for the great tips!
I was feeling a little bit lonely out on the sea...
But now I'm "restrategizing"... 😈
Aloha from the Netherlands! 🤟
TIL pirates ignore the code and attack when you’re at an outpost. Managed to sink them but they dumped my treasure and came back when I was recovering it 😞
Shooting blunderbombs at a ship will turn them depending on where you hit them.
Example :
You are parallel to the enemy ship.
Shooting the front of their ship will turn them away from you.
Shooting the back of their ship will turn their nose towards you.
I do agree, just sticking to shooting cannonballs at their cannon range is better, because if you hit the player, they die.
*Bonus tip* :
If you are going against the burning blade, and they are trying to aim the front fire breath towards you, you can use blunderbombs to turn their nose away from you, preventing them from engulfing your entire boat in flames and holes.
This technique has never failed me.
Nice tips, even for an old pirate :) I do prefer blunderbuss and sword though, so i can one shot the borders.
Yea but then you can't shoot them off cannon so like it's pretty bad ngl if you're high mmr.
thanks for the tips
Great tips
Question: How to not waste time by being out of distance, swirling weirdly around, having to recalibrate angle, crashing trough waves, smashing in each other.. In a nutshell, by doing everything else than engaging in a fight.
What are your tipps in this regard for my lack of PvP experience.
Oh, and how can I counter my Input delay when it skyrockets in the center of action besides playing at night or eliminating everything else than SOT?. Because that doesn't seem to be nearly enough. xD
Boarding or being boarded buggs me. They seem to know where I am even when I start to loose track of my location on board. xD
Assuming you are keeping the enemy to your left side of your sloop, get on helm and look directly to your left. Between the sail height adjustment and your latern is roughly what your cannon angle is (it actually extends a little past these). If you keep an enemy ship inside that area, you know you have angle. Try to hold them in that space by adjusting your turn so that they stay relatively still. Once you get on cannons and notice you're oosing angle, go up and adjust. A lot of people tend to plant themselves on cannons and wait until the last possibile second to correct their angle. Don't do this, just fix it the moment you notice it's slipping away.
Warning about the storage crate: Clever players will look for it when they board and use it to empty your barrels then dump it off the side, which can take you from a slight disadvantage to guaranteed sunk.
If you really need supplies at the cannon, I recommend using the supply specific crates instead because they have much stricter limits on what and how much they can hold.
Sometimes I just put some items in the storage crate and like put the rest in the barrels. A good mix works well. But I'll be honest I just end up going to the barrels anyways lmao
Could I effectively use a pistol (regular or double-barrel) in place of the eye of reach?
Don’t use the double barrel, it’s trash. Yes, the Flintlock Pistol is great as a substitute to the Eye of Reach.
The main advantage of using the Flintlock Pistol is the reload speed. Whereas the Eye of Reach has long-range and a bit more damage.
In my experience the damage difference between the two doesn’t really matter. As chances are they’re already damaged enough by my sword to die by a single shot of either the Flintlock or the Eye of Reach.
The stupid sailing speed changes ruined solo slooping maintaining a death circle is frustrating and near impossible now.
w vid (havent watched it yet)
Sigma
Cool vid but MUSKETEER EYE OF REACH?!?!. I need it so much.0:40
By the way, death spiral takes a lot more adjustments to keep going now than before the wind update
Turn your sails all the way left or right. That's the best way to keep a spiral now.
Bought the game 2 weeks ago and tried to play solo. The players are to toxic, so i stopped 😂. I was just trying the tall tales but got sunk 5times by the same crew. 4 against 1 they must have felt great.
That doesn't happen often so don't let it ruin the potential good times you can have with this game. I've honestly been lucky and only got attacked once when doing a tall tale. I've done all the shores of gold and pirates of the Caribbean ones.
Dont feel down by that, u got ultra unlucky
Play safe seas if ur doing tall tales, no other crews
7:57 with new plunder, DO NOT JUMP, you'll be out of ship in 2 seconds
For me it's easier solo than in duo 🙈🙈 (In hourglass)
Solo sloop is easier than 4 person galleon imo. You have control over everything
So I bought the game yesterday and have nobody to play with so is it possible for ME to solo sloop,I am terrible btw
Bruh I got the same question. I wanted to play SoT since I first saw the trailer when it came out, but I always played on Playstation, but since its only for Ps5 now, my brother cant play with me. I have no idea if its even fun solo and if you can even compete as a new player
@@royaldonut_you can play on pc,Xbox,pc and I think there is more,in played with my friend on Xbox
@@WillFGamer I meant its only for Ps5 and not PS4, which is the problem bc, my brother only has a PS4 right now. For that period of time until he gets a ps4 or pc, I have to play solo, but I wondered if as a casual its even fun solo
@@royaldonut_ ppl are thinking that they are going to make an entirely new sea of thieves from the ground up because the game engine is used is really old and does not have enough data to add more things, that’s also why the game has been lagging alot
And when you get boarded, if they grab that magic box guess what? All your supplies are gone.

I definitely follow people down below hull a lot XD ill have to practice not doing that

3:55 now i'm confused, when the ship do circle i cant keep it in the direction the wind is going so what then? ive found someone that tested how to make the best full circle with ships with the current wind and sail system, and making it sideway no matter the wind is going to make the best circle, but what do you say?
