Eh if ur a smaller ship, just turn into the wind and outlast them. Or my personal favorite, go right past an outpost and use the sovereign harpoon to draw them off course and drive them against the docks.
Once i did a Skull of Sirenesong solo and was chased by a brig, i dug out a nuke from pop up plunder earlier and still had it on board (i know normally this is bad) but in this situation it helped me so much. I did the same thing you did in the video and i managed to kill all 3 crew members and their ship instantly sunk. This was one of my favorite things i experienced in SoT so far.
I wanna keep in mind the Sentence said in the end of the video: „You are not always going to win.“ The enemy Crews shown here aren’t particularly PVP gods and his sloop crew was also pretty good. Don’t get me wrong, this can happen, but don’t expect it to always happen. I myself was able to sink a 4 Crew gally as a solo sloop, because their crew was pretty bad at the game. More often then not you will encounter a bigger crew, which will sink you in combat. But yes sometimes you can defeat a bigger Crew. What I’m trying to say is don’t always engage in combat with bigger crews expecting to always win, it’s not going to happen.
Another major thing to point out is that "Victory" doesn't necessarily mean beating the enemy in combat. It can mean just getting away with the loot and selling it. I usually duo sloop with a frien, and we very rarely get sunk by bigger crews because we're able to maneuver better and get to outposts quicker than they can.
As someone that is mediocre in sot pvp(Servants of flame 283), I don't spend as much time on sot anymore nor do I play on adventure mode, but I've had a few encounters with bigger boats, a couple of them on duo and a couple of them on solo. These may help for sloop fights but I'm unsure about brigs v galleons. One of the most important part is to be patient as a smaller crew. On opening broads where neither boats have significant disadvantage, you DON'T want to be at a close broad, I.e within chainable distance. This has worked out the best for me as me and my crews are relatively confident with midrange to far broad. Keeping distance is usually done by actively being on helm and keeping fullsail. Since you are at such a disadvantage, you should go for boards often. Boards are extremely useful as they give the enemy crews something to think about, as well as gauging the skill level the enemy is(As Cpt Squiddy said). Also just straight up lets you win if the skill disparities are big enough. If the enemy is competent enough, your best bet is to just stay from afar and hope they make a mistake, or you out pressure them. Sometimes it just doesn't work out, whether it is that the enemy is just good or whatever it is. It is a bigger crew we are talking about after all. Another tip I find interesting, one that is kind of not used by a lot of mid tier helms. Sometimes it is better to just not deathspiral. A lot of the times you can get away with sitting diagonally to a galleon and get side/front cannons without fear of broad. You don't need to deathspiral if it can get the job done. If they turn, you start moving and get behind them. Even better if the wheel is hit. When fighting brigs, I find it easier to effectively hold down cannonline and pressure but it is still good to be careful. Staying infront of boat presents opportunity to one ball or cause enemies to backsplash. This strategy should be done when you are sure that the enemy have enough pressure or can't shoot you back. I would say this one is an "advanced" tip because pretty much no brigs/galleons I've fought in adventure mode knows how to actually tank. Also! Abuse blunderbombs. Abuse them a lot when fighting big boats, it gets them off cannons.
Please do let me know if there's any shitty tips I've said. I don't pvp in adventure mode as often as I'd like to and it'd suck to spread wrong information.
Sloops can often be stronger than larger ships because it’s easier to coordinate with 2 people than 4. But a well organized crew of 4 will almost always beat a sloop. Power in numbers
A true Reaper, loves the thrill of being out gunned and out manned in a naval fight. Battle on, soldier on! We sink or swim, hunt or be hunted! Nothing brings me more joy or thrill then the thrill of sloop to brig or sloop to galleon combat when the odds are stacked 3 or 4 vs 1 against me.
Tip for avoiding boarders: go to the merchant at your outpost then buy two crates any is fine then place them by your ladders so that when they try to board the crates will block them coming on and they'll fall off
I am learning how to out-sail other ships in the game too. Sure, you can beat me in a fight; but you have to catch me first. Watching brig and galleon crews waste their time chasing me across the map in my sloop is a hoot.

@@Sketchlogic “Further” from Far Cry 3 “Days Gone” by Nathan Whitehead “A New Dawn” from the F1 ‘22 soundtrack “Becalmed” from the Sea of Thieves soundtrack
this reminds me of a satisfying moment i had recently. i just did Fortress of the Damned and me and the random i was with made an alliance with a Solo Sloop who came in mid-Fortress. we sold our loot at the nearest outpost, leaving just the reaper chests, and i noticed on the map that a Reaper Alliance ship was waiting for us there and it was a brig. we still had the powder kegs, so we had a plan. our solo sloop ally went in with one of the kegs and blew them up while we stopped on the other side of the island to sell. the Solo Sloop sunk because he crashed trying to rush the keg over to them. when we stopped, i told my friend to launch himself over to fight while i sold the chests. after i sold them, i went and joined the fight and the crew was desperately trying to save their ship. we kept killing them until their ship eventually sunk. they also had other treasures on board, so we sold them as well and then we all parted ways. it was probably my most satisfying moment in the game by far
Nothing more satisfying than sinking a galleon as a sloop once their holes and water gets out of control and seeing their ship instantly fill up with water is one of the best feelings in SOT
I just hopped off sea of thieves because I spent hours on getting chest and bounty. Was about to sell everything but as soon as I got on land I got jumped lost everything. Crazy how as soon as I open RUclips this was in my recommendations.
If anyone is wondering what is the song roughly at the start of the video. The track is called days gone composed by Nathan Whitehead for the game called Days Gone.
I had a grade 5 Reaper brig suddenly take notice of me [no emissary, they actually saw me 6 squares away I guess] while trying to waste their time [had like 2 merchant crates lol] a skelly galleon spawned on me with rigging balls so that was also fun. Took the whole 'fleet' around a sea fort which had better shots on the brig thankfully, did a quick stop and 180 turn making them have to circle the fort again and run into the galleon, then scraped them off on Fetcher's Rest forching them to go south while I pushed north and triggered my dive on my table. During this I threw 2 boarders off my boat, water hit map table 3 times, and I did miss my board attempt before Fetcher's but hit 3 firebombs on deck and bulnderbombed one into the water before grabbing my mermaid. Keep calm and make a plan, odds are your opponets don't have either!
man i wish i was good at this game. i play solo because my friends dont like it very much and i keep getting curbstomped, but its still fun. the other day i was running from a galley with some big ass shiny chest in my hands and i jumped off and swam to sell it while they were still chasing my empty ship. someday i will be the one chasing
Maybe you just need a change of attitude. Instead of doing stuff and running, you could start collecting kegs on a rowboat and hunt them. I only log in to steal from others and sink their ships. If you see reapers on the map, wait without a ship but plenty of kegs and reapers and destroy their day. You're gonna be the monster they fear most of.
this is good and all. when you have at least one other person to run with. managing your ship as well as the enemies is just hard when you are Solo Sloop.
Thanks for this as a solo player I just can't keep acting recless on a public server and I can't just pull out my megaphone expecting the passer to be friendly. My eye sights not very good but I need to be more alert I can't just ancher at a small island and hope to get away with 4 king chests I have to watch for sails on the herizon even if the loot is tempting I must leave the island and bolt it as much as possible. Thanks for the advise.
Good to see that even after years there's still no shortage of people in their skinny black pajamas who play the game by being afk 95% of the time and risk nothing in any fight they participate in.
I love to use a galleon even if I am alone because it just adds that little bit more effort to look like you are not a good target while having a lot of fun watching them wonder where the rest is
Me and my friend's run a galleon. We all have sloop paranoia from running solo but now we use it to identify sloops in need and run interference for the smaller sloops.
My sloop advice. Your small. Use it to your advantage, don't use flashy cosmetics or cannons that restrict your vision. You will be outnumbered when fighting bigger ships, but a well placed keg or board, chain shot, anything. And you will gain the upper hand. Use this knowledge well in battle, and I look forward to see you on the Waves.
A buddy and I sunk a Galleon with scatter shot shortly after taking down 2 of their masts. It was the quickest take down that ever happened, and we found out that it was due to a Chest of Sorrow they had on board. Just a little food for thought, for the risky players hoarding cursed chests.
I had this happen last night. I didn’t realize that a brigantine was stalking me for a good while and was waiting for me to become a level 5 emissary. They attacked after I docked and was cashing in my loot. I was able to get to about half of it. But I figured the level 5 flag was more valuable so I was able to lower it right before they killed me. Very annoying but at least they didn’t get everything they wanted.
A tip for solo sloopin': When someone who is chasing you claims they are friendly and want you to stop your ship, just ride that wind fast as you can away from them
I finished one of these fort of the damned without using the lanterns. Someone much better than myself managed to chase me and my friend down in the middle of a storm and board our boat and sink us. Taking all of our treasure.
@Pipo-dq7wx it's not a mechanic though, it's something that can't be removed without seriously unbalanced gameplay. However spawn camping is very toxic as it completely removes the ability of the other player from playing or defending themselves.
@@boopjack9522 It depends on the context, if you're spawn camping another crew to stop them from repairing or returning fire, with the end goal of sinking them then its a legitimate tactic. If you're spawn camping someone without even damaging their ship, or preventing them from sinking while spawn camping, then its toxic and in some cases can get you banned.
@@boopjack9522 but spawn camping isn’t really consistent anymore because of the changes they made with the spawn locations. Also, you can just scuttle if you get spawn camped and everything is good so I don’t see where the problem is
im newer and while doing a low level merchant voyage to learn how to trap animals i sunk a skeleton ship and then my animal island had THREE cursed skeleton captains and i accrued more loot than i planned for. Totally got jumped by a Brigatine when i tried selling at port merrick and they got 16+ chests and high value skulls 🥲😔 i scout the horizon but my combat skills r terrible and im still kinda slow on sail adjustments to keep top speed so i needed this strategy tip vid
Do no harm, But take no slander. I often solo sloop, and will willingly share treasures and loot with most, this is important as when i was found by some Reapers, i was willing to capsize my ship to assist them, however, they left my ship in shambles, yet didnt finish the job, they didnt want treasure, they were just one of malice, leaving my burning ship. I tailed their brigantine, just barely away from detection range and into dagger tooth, whilst they pilfered, plundered and sold their loot, i went over to block their ship exit with my own, before bucketing water into their ship, before fully sinking, i was found, and thus quickly cleaved. But those heretics had something coming to them, i was already in attack position, they were anchored, therefore, i broke both their masts and began to wail on them, even amidst three boardings and one counter anchor attempt, i managed to keelhaul them all and capsize that home of hellions, i fed the Seas with flesh, as per nature's law, i didnt sell any loot of theirs either, to spite them rather, and to allow better crews to own such luxurious loot, i buried them along daggertooth's coast. My boat as swiss as can be, a small glimmer trickled down my eye, saltier than the Sea, sweeter than sugarcane, and greater than garum, i am content with this content, and am grateful for thine greatness. Sweet voyages, and may the Seas bring many more bounties.
Yes, size matters, but hehe... not like you think! People run from my sloop! I always fight with the left side, and i turn faster than bigger ships, i can easily get out of their cannons way while still having my cannons pointed on their ship... Also it's best to shoot the ships lowest compartments. So always aim for the bottom, and slingshot / chain shot the mast and after that use fireballs and make sure at least one of them lands on where enemies raise the mast, and then fire the F... out of their bottom, they'll sink faster than a solid rock! Like i said initially, people gets scared and run away from my slope lol! Also communication is key. Make sure that one drives the ship and always have you in line, and that the guy that steers the ship, also do repairs, and he has to tell you when he has to do repairs and then ask you which way he should pre turn to while repairing to keep the cannons in line, and then turn 1 click to that direction with the steering on the ship, 1 click equals 1 pole on the steering. the bandaged pole one is the center and makes a click when its centered. The sloops are insane, but, if you have a brig or a gal, with full crew, and everyone on that gal or brig knows their task and which side of the ship to fight from, then a slope is most likely to be dead pretty fast.
usually what my crew does is the same thing, but the second the enemy ship is anchored/masts are down, we turn the ship arround while a teammate is stalling their crew from taking up the anchor/mast, and start pummeling the enemy ship with cannonballs and scattershots, sinking them and saving us time from having to go back to get revenge.
I’m on PS5 so I haven’t been playing very long, but it seems like everyone we fight that’s on a sloop are pretty good at the game. It’s also weird but when me and a friend are duo we do sooo much better in PvP than when we have a bigger ship with 3-4 people
Played today and decided to do a treasury for an east headstart in Emmissary Grade and once I was finished, I returned to my ship to be jumpscared by a grade 5 Reaper. Not because they were sinking me or waiting to ambush, but because I spawned below deck and walked up to the top to be met with 2 guys staring at me with their spyglasses... while on my ship. They were honestly pretty chill, just asking what I was doing and just taking my firebombs and chainshots. Nothing else.
also use everything to your advantage, sail past outopsts and sell your loot while your ship continues, sail past forts and look for kegs and fire chains at them do anything
me and my friend had someone wait at an island to steal our treasure away from their ship. They planned to steal the treasure and wait for us to leave, then they were going to have their ship pick them up. Sort of a genius idea since it protects them from us stealing their treasure, but we killed them and it didn't work out for them very well

Good tips!
The cloud skull as those pirates sink was beautiful i love that.
Tip for avoiding boarders: go to the merchant at your outpost then buy two crates any is fine then place them by your ladders so that when they try to board the crates will block them coming on and they'll fall off
This is not true at all???
I am learning how to out-sail other ships in the game too. Sure, you can beat me in a fight; but you have to catch me first. Watching brig and galleon crews waste their time chasing me across the map in my sloop is a hoot.
The far cry 3 music really pulled this together 🔥
It’s one of the best video game soundtracks of all time
The Days Gone Music too
Ich wollte es schreiben bis ich deinen Kommentar gelesen habe mein freund du bist einer der noch richtig gutes gehör hat und ich liebst ❤ tolles video übrigens 😁
Thanks for this awesome and very helpful video. Could you list the music tracks used in the video? Amazing music.
@@Sketchlogic “Further” from Far Cry 3

“A New Dawn” from the F1 ‘22 soundtrack
“Becalmed” from the Sea of Thieves soundtrack
this reminds me of a satisfying moment i had recently. i just did Fortress of the Damned and me and the random i was with made an alliance with a Solo Sloop who came in mid-Fortress. we sold our loot at the nearest outpost, leaving just the reaper chests, and i noticed on the map that a Reaper Alliance ship was waiting for us there and it was a brig. we still had the powder kegs, so we had a plan. our solo sloop ally went in with one of the kegs and blew them up while we stopped on the other side of the island to sell. the Solo Sloop sunk because he crashed trying to rush the keg over to them. when we stopped, i told my friend to launch himself over to fight while i sold the chests. after i sold them, i went and joined the fight and the crew was desperately trying to save their ship. we kept killing them until their ship eventually sunk. they also had other treasures on board, so we sold them as well and then we all parted ways. it was probably my most satisfying moment in the game by far
The star wars quotes are S tier
2:44 is the reason why blundy will always be king in sot, never leave home without yours kids
i like the f1 23 or 22 main menu music at the beginning, brings back so many memories
i really enjoyed this video, the talking, the music, the intense pvp and skill, amazing
Nothing more satisfying than sinking a galleon as a sloop once their holes and water gets out of control and seeing their ship instantly fill up with water is one of the best feelings in SOT
This isn't just a RUclips video, this is a movie.
Star Wars references are great! Love it!
I fit two prequel memes in one video!
Love the farcry3 music! Like you're conducting the orchestra. Love it!❤
def doesnt sound like a bo0t promotinal account right
I just hopped off sea of thieves because I spent hours on getting chest and bounty.
Took a brig solo slooping yesterday felt so satisfying
Yes, two legends (skilled players) on a tiny ship is more than enough. Big up for this W video 🤝
clicking on this video was insane, hearing that far cry 3 song gave me chills for a secopnd.
Nicely done. Ive been a solo Slooper since the beginning . it's always awsome seeing other aloopera beating the bigger crews lol
Thanks for the video I swear half the ships I fight are brigs and larger, far too big for a solo slooper
Slooping can be rough sometimes
I massacred galleons with the brig but seeing you do that with the sloop is just wow...
As a brand new player this was AWESOME to watch! Love the channel. 😎
man i wish i was good at this game. i play solo because my friends dont like it very much and i keep getting curbstomped, but its still fun. the other day i was running from a galley with some big ass shiny chest in my hands and i jumped off and swam to sell it while they were still chasing my empty ship. someday i will be the one chasing
@@Randulaith i can try that this weekend, thanks for the idea! but how will i know where i am and where reapers are without the map table?
this is good and all. when you have at least one other person to run with. managing your ship as well as the enemies is just hard when you are Solo Sloop.
From a ghost curse player to you I respect your skill you certainly are not an easy sink.
Well played as a new player on PlayStation this game is one of my favorite additions ever
This is absolutely crazy and insane, i love it and this hyped me up to go solo sloop, keep up the great pirating lads
As a Playstation player I just turned off crossplay and keyboard/mouse players and now I mostly find other new people instead of pvp sweat lords
how
Randomly hearing the Far cry 3 music at 6:50 ... Goosebumps one of the most hearth hittings songs i know tbh
Squiddy is always unhinged with his long form videos 🤣

Good to see that even after years there's still no shortage of people in their skinny black pajamas who play the game by being afk 95% of the time and risk nothing in any fight they participate in.
Future big sea of thieves creator❤️🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
I love to use a galleon even if I am alone because it just adds that little bit more effort to look like you are not a good target while having a lot of fun watching them wonder where the rest is
Love the use of one of the F1 game theme musics haha. Nice video!
impeccable music selection for the video. very well put together; helpful advice. Super impressive and entertaining.
@@jamelii thanks my dude
Chased a galleon down on a sloop while screaming at them with a perfect mickey mouse voice XD sunk so many ships with the mickey mouse voice
2 vs 7 is crazy
A buddy and I sunk a Galleon with scatter shot shortly after taking down 2 of their masts. It was the quickest take down that ever happened, and we found out that it was due to a Chest of Sorrow they had on board.
Just a little food for thought, for the risky players hoarding cursed chests.
I personally love slooping solo and never give an f
Even when you raise sails all the way you still have some momentum. So thats why you drifted into the Galleon a bit.
Love the story mode and dramatic music, lol ^^ thx for tips.
What cannon cosmetics were you using? Nice video btw
This video is really high quality for a smaller creator goodjob im subscribing.
The duo sloop is definitely one of the strongest ships... The solo sloop is by far the weakest.
A tip for solo sloopin':
When someone who is chasing you claims they are friendly and want you to stop your ship, just ride that wind fast as you can away from them
Any time me and my buddy play it’s always one of us occasionally checking the horizon for other plays while looting an island
There’s an old saying: “Big things come in smaller packages.”
I finished one of these fort of the damned without using the lanterns. Someone much better than myself managed to chase me and my friend down in the middle of a storm and board our boat and sink us. Taking all of our treasure.
Sounds like us 😆
@@Randulaith This happened very recently to me and my crew. Probably a week ago.
@@Randulaithha no definitely not. You like to think you that guy but you not
Noice content, always good to see another duo sloop out their, we’re with ya brother
I like that not only did you defeat some larger crews, but you did it without being toxic or relying on spawn camping them constantly
spawn camping is litterally a strategy like another how is it toxic if it's a mechanic in the game
Also, you can just scuttle if you get spawn camped and everything is good so I don’t see where the problem is
@@Pipo-dq7wx doesn't make it less toxic my guy, especially since if your only option is to lose then how is it a fair fight for your loot
You earned a sub! I love this narrated style content
Thanks lad
im newer and while doing a low level merchant voyage to learn how to trap animals i sunk a skeleton ship and then my animal island had THREE cursed skeleton captains and i accrued more loot than i planned for. Totally got jumped by a Brigatine when i tried selling at port merrick and they got 16+ chests and high value skulls 🥲😔 i scout the horizon but my combat skills r terrible and im still kinda slow on sail adjustments to keep top speed so i needed this strategy tip vid
The best video ive ever watched
The music and gameplay beautiful
that anti keg suicide with the shotgun was insane
The timing on it was just perfect
Only worked because the enemy didn't light the keg before grabbing the ladder.
Galleons are easy to take out, chains and lots of fire and now with the new scattershots
epic soundtrack you did for this, great vid!
Me and my friend sail on a sloop and chase brigs and galleons
That Far Cry 3 music hit me like crazy
Thumbnail had me thinking about something else 💀
I was waiting for someone to comment about that 😂
I’m on PS5 so I haven’t been playing very long, but it seems like everyone we fight that’s on a sloop are pretty good at the game. It’s also weird but when me and a friend are duo we do sooo much better in PvP than when we have a bigger ship with 3-4 people
Solo sloopers gotta play harder for the same benefits
@@juulee68 definitely. I feel like that’s one reason why my buddy and I do better in a duo than with more people. When it’s 2v4 we try way harder
You got lucky there bro!!
Beutifull work guys! It's always fun to humble a bully Galleon crew.
This truly was a sea of thieves moment
This guy likes star wars and I like him. Subscriber gained
That F1 music in the background 😂👍
also use everything to your advantage, sail past outopsts and sell your loot while your ship continues, sail past forts and look for kegs and fire chains at them do anything
me and my friend had someone wait at an island to steal our treasure away from their ship. They planned to steal the treasure and wait for us to leave, then they were going to have their ship pick them up. Sort of a genius idea since it protects them from us stealing their treasure, but we killed them and it didn't work out for them very well
