I'm a sword/throwing knife main and would just like to add something to the throwing knives. Your heavy charge attack bypasses enemies blocking with a sword which can deflect normal thrown knives, so if they start blocking your throws you can charge stab them instead. Also it is faster to throw 2 knives than it is for someone to double gun you. If you run sword/throwing knife like me you essentially have 3 weapons since you keep the sword and have a faster double gun method. For PvE they one shot most skeletons/phantoms/other mobs so it's just a really useful and very underrated weapon.
@@Rinoto there's a hard skill wall because of the projectile speed, double gunning is still more advantageous because the projectile speed is fast enough that you work on reaction time not projectile prediction. Not a lot of people know this but the three tier damage system is flawed. I saw a video a wile ago testing how everything damages a ship. It reveals that instead of only three tiers of holes there are five, and it only takes two cannons to make a tier five. There is a lot more to it but I think that’s the important part.
The hate for the Reaper PJs is the same as the hate for any of the Reaper cosmetics or emissaries. It just means you're going to run the moment a ship appears on the horizon.
Ocean mines? Im surprised no one is just leaving the keg in direct line of enemy ship, it may not be as direct but it will guarantee some holes on that front then you can board as they hit the keg hoping the sound of the blast can muffle you climbing out.
Id like to point out that the throwing knives are espessially good at PvE, (They are my go to whenever i fight) this is because they dont need reloads and almost all enemeis drop ammo you can recharge with essentially giving you a consistent fire weapon that needs no reload, the spammability is great!

I just got back into playing SoT a few days ago. I had been offline for almost a year. I came across your channel, and I really enjoy your content. It's nice to see someone else playing on the console! I tried to join the discord but the link doesn't work. If you ever want a crew mate let me know. Keep up the great work Captain Squiddy!
35:43 FR, my first ever spawn-in for this game was at Daggertooth, and within one minute, i was rolled up on by a ship full of kids who just killed me over and over, took forever to sink me, and it made me really not want to keep playing. this game is lucky i keep an open mind, but please, for the health of the game, dont attack ships at spawn docks. tuck on them, sure, give the new solo-sloops a cheeky surprise, but dont deny them the joy of setting sail, first.
When doing a reset when not solo it's best to send one over to bord keep the other ship distracted and occupied while your ship sails safely away and is getting repaired as there ship should be filling up with water even if is a small hole. It's good to keep pressure so you doing give them time to reset when you do.
On the matching cannon tip, you can also do that even if the opponent misses, you just have to change your own arc accordingly. This also works similarly on galleon and brig. If you are playing and you are hitting, you can let your teammate know. Something I notice on a lot of squiddy's clips in the video is that he doesn't eat as much as he should. I know that it's solo and people don't often snipe as much as in duo, as well as the fact that his opponent kept getting back on cannons despite getting buttfucked on broad. Still, it is just good practice to just get off cannons if you're taking too much damage. From my experiences, even if the opponents are not gamers, it is better to be safe than sorry. It's very easy to just hop off cannons to go for a quick snipe. Just eat a lot. Eat as soon as you are 70% hp or under. One thing I don't think he mentioned is to load your cannons without sitting on it. You should be doing this if you know you can't stay on for long. Along with that, you can also eat or snipe at the same times while loading. This is important even if you aren't losing broad because sometimes waves are fucked and you may get balled without having the chance to dodge. About the resetting tip. "You should be bailing buckets of water instead of patching the ship." You ABSOLUTELY can patch boat while in a fight. In fact, this is one of the important part to winning in an hourglass fight. You shouldn't just bucket all the time instead of patching. Especially in solo sloop hourglass. Any decent gamers will realize that they can just patch holes in between wait time(Enemy bucketing, enemy patch time, enemy restock, etc). On a sloop, in order of priorities, it should be: opposite side, front holes, front side, back holes(Or just generally holes they aren't shooting. This is in the case of sloop pvp). If you can keep just 1 main and 2 hatch, you are ok. It's even better if you have less than that. I have won games when the enemies don't prioritize patching as much as I do, which ended up in them being overwhelmed. Still, you do need to find a balance between shooting and patching. On duo sloop, when you are patching downstairs, you should let your teammate on the cannons know of this so that they know that you can not help them(As in sniping, reviving, fixing wheel, fixing angle, pulling mast). About the resetting tip, again. You should reset when you can't shoot back at the enemy anymore and you won't be able to for a bit, while they can shoot back at you. As in getting hit by the wheel once or twice and they are getting out of angle or you have too many things to work on and you get overwhelmed. If you wait just by the time when you have too many holes to bail, you are probably already losing and you should've leave the broad way before that. You should reset when the situation is bad and you are clearly losing without chance to easily recover. Not pressuring your enemy when they are masted being bad is absolutely correct. However, "You immediately need to board and anchor them upon knocking mast down" is not necessarily correct. You don't do that. Many cases, there are players that have more than 3 braincells(I know, it's crazy) and they are decent enough at handling pressure that they can usually ladder guard or even kill you. It's even harder if it's against good opponents. Good crews will immediately get angle back and start keeping pressure off of their boat while paying attention to boarders. Maybe this tip was intended for going after the enemy when they start running and you masted them(as shown on the clip), but the tip just said to "immediately go for a board" after breaking mast, which is too general and just not correct. In usual cases, if you have dropped the enemy mast, then you can keep it down. On a sloop, focus on cannonline and aim directly above deck to hit both mast and opponent. Also, assuming you're still broad v broad on an orbital, break their wheel, they'll not appreciate that. While doing so, you can also hit the back of the sloop to kill or hit players off that are trying to pull mast. Pay attention to helm when he tries to rep and keep the opponent mast down. If you can't do that because you aren't hitting your shots, tough luck. Another tip I don't know if mentioned in the video(I did watch it, but I may have missed it) is that you don't have to rep mast. You certainly can pull it but should only do it if you can safely do so and not get in a terrible situation. If you are playing decent enough players, the moment you drop that mast is the moment they knock it back down. It's also obvious when you are trying to do that so you don't always have to keep doing it. Help out your maincannon and keep them off pressure or focus a bit on getting reps if you feel that you are troubled. I've had games where the enemy just straight up pulls mast in front of me(like damn, the disrespect), to which they get balled and killed. Don't be like them. It's also a good point to make that game sense are so important in the higher tiers of ship fighting. You need to know what you are doing and why you are doing that. The lads back then only knew "mast up, we run", but not "mast up, we ball" when the cannon is pointed directly at them. Also, watching gameplay footages are so good for improving. I quickly improved and learned a lot of tech from watching better players play hourglass. Whether it's streamers or tournaments/events. I know it sounds weird, unnecessary, or even sweaty but these videos are generally a lot of fun to watch and you can learn a lot as a side thing. This also goes with improving. Your big objective is to just have fun playing and practicing, not just improving. If you aren't having fun, you're not getting better. It's not like commendations where you feel like shit all the time but you still get it done. You only get so far doing something you hate. Great video Squiddy. I don't know if I have anything else that I need to be nit picking you about so that'll be it. What tips can you give when I blunderbuss someone point blank while they’re spawn camping my sloop crew and they don’t freaking die? Cause I hit my EoR and bb shots and they don’t go down
EoR and BB don't 1hk. If you just BB'd them point blank, you need to follow that up with a sword because they will for sure be 1 hit from death if you stab them before they can eat.
Hitbox is not affected by character size, and a successful hit does the same damage whether it hits head, body, or legs. Picking thinner pirates makes it easier to hide on the enemy ship (aka tucking)
Idk how but my first shots seem to be more accurate sometimes than a dialled in shot so some of it is trusting your gut and getting that reflex for it eh
im a cannoner and my teamate is supposed the helm but instead he spam boards and gets mad when we sink when im basically doing a 1v2 in hourglassas he almost never gets on ship and also he repairs the ship way to much as were in a broadside and instead of keeping angle hes fixing the only hole we have in the hull
A team of three players spawn-camped on my solo sloop today, without sinking it. They even bailed when I was respawning to make sure the ship didnt sink, so they could kill me endlessly. In the meantime they were of course also insulting me generously in the vocal chat -- needless to say I didnt provoke them in any way. So... I just scuttled silently after a few minutes, without feeding the troll. I woudlnt have called it "part of the game"
Two of you have clearly never played SoT. You're not gonna sink a good, or even decent crew by just using cannons. You have to keep them from repairing. This isn't CoD lol
@@simplyluis6548 my brother in piracy have YOU even played sot??? spawn camping doesn’t require you to get sunk, its just people waiting for you to respawn so they can kill you over and over which is EXTREMELY toxic. you’re right, this isnt cod, but NOBODY SAID IT WAS????
Fire video, however I feel like a LOT of the tips are repeated multiple times throughout the video on top of some explanations that we really only needed to hear once.
One more unspoken rule to add. DONT TAKE FISHERMANS SHIT. Unless you are prepared for them to come back with the mega keg they got from killing that skelly Captain on the island and fuck your shit up to get their fish back. (Source, me. Im that fisherman)
nah in hourglass dont let fights go longer than 7 minutes. after that it's a waste of time. unless you got you curse already because it was easier to get curses back then. it is objectively incredibly more difficult to obtain the pvp curses now than in the past. those that already got the curses were on easy mode
Unless you are playing to get curses and only that, just play to have fun. Fights in hourglass(unless you are stomping or being stomped) generally can take somewhere from 5-20 minutes depending on ship type and skill level. If you don't like that, you might just not like hourglass in general.
I like this a ton thanks but Man im not subscribing to any of the pirate etiquette garbage. Ive been hit with all those constantly when i was new. Also reaper pajamas are the cleanest costume in the game lol my number one tip dont trust anyone, sink it all even alliances
People really underestimate firebombs. Any chip damage is valuable, as it can be a difference between a one hit kill with a blunderbuss, or an enemy surviving with a sliver of health. I use them most often on the stairs, as they often have to cross those spots to get to me. And if they decide to tank it (which most people do), they lose about 10% of their health in the time needed to get to me. And if they decide to get a bucket of water to put it out, I get a chance to use the fire as a distraction and surprise them when they're splashing water. Plus the darkening of the screen when there's fire on your ship is super annoying, especially at night, limiting their visibility.
Is Stealing toxic? It is "if" you are doing this against a noob solo player and you are on a team of three or four, then spawn camp the poor guy after spamming "Rolling on the deck laughing". That super toxicity. Odds on them doing Tall Tales is the most likely or if you watch them on your map and they're trying not to get near a reaper crew. It will most likely be a noob solo sloop ship.

In the meantime they were of course also insulting me generously in the vocal chat -- needless to say I didnt provoke them in any way.
So... I just scuttled silently after a few minutes, without feeding the troll.
I woudlnt have called it "part of the game"
@@delevoyeguillaume9126for sure not part of the game! Spawn camping how could someone ever think thats part of the game 😂
tf are you on about spawn camping is 100% toxic in any game
Two of you have clearly never played SoT. You're not gonna sink a good, or even decent crew by just using cannons. You have to keep them from repairing. This isn't CoD lol
@@simplyluis6548 my brother in piracy have YOU even played sot??? spawn camping doesn’t require you to get sunk, its just people waiting for you to respawn so they can kill you over and over which is EXTREMELY toxic.
you’re right, this isnt cod, but NOBODY SAID IT WAS????
Great vid, whats your cannon skin? With the notches on top.
@@longhunter1252 thanks! I think it’s the Iron Maiden cannon from the Plunder Pass last season
Mr President... There was a 2nd Athena Keg..
Fire video, however I feel like a LOT of the tips are repeated multiple times throughout the video on top of some explanations that we really only needed to hear once.
58:10 higher ! ... Higher !!
The blunderbuss isn't the most hated weapon instead of the sword ? Oo sword is more technical than that noobtube that one shot >
I wanna use kegs more. I always avoid them.
One more unspoken rule to add. DONT TAKE FISHERMANS SHIT. Unless you are prepared for them to come back with the mega keg they got from killing that skelly Captain on the island and fuck your shit up to get their fish back. (Source, me. Im that fisherman)
I woke up Ts playing 22 minutes in 😭
Match that arch.
nah in hourglass dont let fights go longer than 7 minutes. after that it's a waste of time. unless you got you curse already because it was easier to get curses back then. it is objectively incredibly more difficult to obtain the pvp curses now than in the past. those that already got the curses were on easy mode
Unless you are playing to get curses and only that, just play to have fun. Fights in hourglass(unless you are stomping or being stomped) generally can take somewhere from 5-20 minutes depending on ship type and skill level. If you don't like that, you might just not like hourglass in general.
im second yippee!
Alert! Hot Reaper Crews in your Area
Should start twitch streaming I’d follow an sub as a console player
I think ashiny ray is bigger than you?
I’m a former console player I play on pc but prefer controller
As far as i know athena kegs do less damage to the ship compared to the stronghold variant but the blast radius is wayyy bigger
No Athena and stronghold are the same just Athena’s may look bigger because it is brighter
WHY ME
I’d like to see you try 🤨
Anyone I played with its hard to board a ship.
The only safe place for a keg is on an enemy ship.😂
Never doing pvp cuz what few people still play are sweaty no lifes, so im hoping theres other things to learn here
I like this a ton thanks but Man im not subscribing to any of the pirate etiquette garbage. Ive been hit with all those constantly when i was new. Also reaper pajamas are the cleanest costume in the game lol my number one tip dont trust anyone, sink it all even alliances
Minecraft music goes hard
A solo slooper listening to the first two:
Can I play with you pls
is it toxic to steal loot in a game called sea of THIVES. That is a question for you to answer :)
The bfv music 😭
I’ll play with you
That noob screaming help into the megaphone lmfao
Cigarettes for breakfast
Is Stealing toxic? It is "if" you are doing this against a noob solo player and you are on a team of three or four, then spawn camp the poor guy after spamming "Rolling on the deck laughing". That super toxicity. Odds on them doing Tall Tales is the most likely or if you watch them on your map and they're trying not to get near a reaper crew. It will most likely be a noob solo sloop ship.
2 primaries? Kinda like demoman from tf2?
I also play on console, could we play together sometime?
Everybody help me play with him like this text

The whole noob thing I understand, but most people I run into just don't care. Unfortunately
bad manners in a game about being a cutthroat thief
