Hello Cliff. As a sot vet it does my old heart good to see relatively new players have both ethics and fun. Very enjoyable. I have a little tip for you and all the other fishermen out there who is trying to get them Battlegills: You no longer need fort world events or fort of the dammed to get Battlegills. You can catch them... (wait for it...) At active Fortresses. Yes really. I hope that helps you in your quest to becoming a true Hunter. Keep the good content flowing. :)
In ponds you can find pondies, which are surprisingly valuable. These require no bait and you can usually catch them by only tiring them once, meaning you get them quicker. I'd recommend mermaids hideaway, on the rock in the pond.
Not as much as battlegills or stormfish, more than splashtails, around the same as regional fish I think. It can net more money though as they are quicker to catch, you can even get trophy fish by reeling in once, plus mermaids is right next to a sea forts if you need to cook. I'd recommend it as they don't sell for as much as other fish, but are really quick to catch and cook.
Just discovered you yesterday and love your content, glad to see there is today already a new upload, but I still have to catch up on old videos! Still amazing and entertaining videos
Never give in, the the grind yes it's slow but the sweatness of the comedations being done is satisfying. Your tales of the seas Cliff are awesome keep it up !!
I think that the idea behind the hunter's call is just exactly that, It asks for players to be patient and understand that the best way to get reputation is solid work between increasing other companies reputation. You do a couple of merchants missions, but during it you take every opportunity to search in floating barrels or inside shipwrecks, then after that, half an hour of fishing, maybe even one hour, and you finish your game selling the fish. As you said is grinding meanwhile you play
Agreed! Getting Legendary Hunter of the Sea of Thieves is an insane journey- but it's quite fun for some of us! There's ways to make the grind easier, but no matter how you approach it- it'll still be some time to invest. Happy Sailing!

They take no bait and because how small the area is you can grab them in normally one try. Also you can get "Treacherous Plunder", which you sell to Hunters Call, and Ashen keys from these areas
If you're going to grind Hunter's call if you want to do it on a galleon you need confident people who know how to read and how to follow instructions. You go region to region systematically clearing your commendations and collecting any gems or breath of the sea that you find to turn in as well you don't have to cook all the fish you only have to cook the ones that are worth enough you only get a 15% bonus 15% of $37 is not much not worth the extra minute to cook it take that minute to catch a second one. I always loved to end my SoT sessions by fishing some fish, to calm down from the hard fight and sweet grinds. It gives me sweet chills to look at the wonderfull water of this game while fishing, i ended up fishing the 2100 fish needed for all the commandations without it being a pain because i've done it while wanting to have some chill moment with friends or even as a solo player.
@@BionicTem Before I posted this comment I only played Maidens Voyage (the tutorial) and the “Pirates Life” campaign. I literally got the game that very day. Since then I played a few actually games, where I would freely go with my sloop, from island to island doing merchants voyages.
Love how you gyes helped the noobs with all your treasures. Personally i would have allied with them. But what you gyes did was so much kinder :) and you can just use your hooks to drag after the skellies, then you got thoose battle gills in no time, they have a crazy high bite rate. Only fish where you have to stand still is thoose wreckers, they leave you vulnerable, crazy scary and fun, to sail for the seapost after an hour of open water wreck fishing.
When fishing, push down on your rod in addition to the correct direction, obvious exception for needing to pull back. Always be tap reeling. You can reel more as the fish switches directions. Lower your rod when they are tired. I dont know if or how much lowering your rod helps, but I catch fish a hell of a lot faster than any youtuber I've seen. My fellow sailors... leave the gunpowder kegs where they lay. Unless you are properly set up and committed to trolling with them, they just gonna get you sunk. xD
My crew and I like to go on "Hunter's Call movie nights", where we start a watch2gether (allows you to watch youtube videos that are synced up for each viewer) and then set up a 3-5 hour long playlist before hopping into SoT to go fishing. SoT allows you to pop out videos and overlay them on top of the game, so for those without two computer monitors you can still have the video stream in a corner of the screen while fishing. It's a fun way of adding a little more activity to an otherwise mindnumbing task!
I think it would be great to be one of the go-to people when Cliff puts together a crew. Yeah, being crew for any of the bigger SoT streamers would be cool, and others may have specific ones they think would be great to crew with, but it seems like Cliff just has more straight up fun with it and would be a fun crew to be on.
Not sure I'd call this the hardest grind but I respect the content it's well made. I'm not max athena's becuase I don't grind in sea of thieves but I've been max hunter's call forever because I'd casually sell gems from world events to them or from stolen fish/sunken ship fish. I actually didn't do much fishing other than in the shores of gold for sea junk.
I find fishing to be the the most chill part of SoT, it gives me a minute to relax and not think about how I'm gonna get my latest loot grab to and outpost without being killed, or the stress of trying to even find said loot on an island or lost ship. Fishing isn't too hard for me (probably not for anyone else tho either lmao) and it give me time to clear my head of stress and anger (Unless I lose the fish, in which case I go AAAAA-), and it's one of my 2 favorite ways to end a long looting session, the other being getting alcohol poisoning at the nearest tavern ;) It is a MEGA slow grind for 50 Hunter Call, so I personally recommend either selling your meats/fish after you finish a voyage and have nothing else to lose, or doing what Cliff did here, and go hard core, fishing at ghost forts, active skeleforts, and storms on the Devils Roar without fear of any players.
My buddies and I, back when they had the fishing event, when we needed battlegills? We loaded up a rowboat and went to the middle of the skeleton fleet event. Skelly ships don't bother you in the rowboat, you're hard to spot by player ships and as long as you have bait to last, you were golden. However will say, 4 people on a row boat is kind of crowed...
going to be honest here, my entire progress for the hunter call so far has been gems and whatever drops i can scavenge up from ship wrecks (given that 98% of the time i'm usually run for the hills if i get some much as a whiff of another player nearby) XD believe me when i say, doing this approach is way more of a grinding situation for it then what you've done mate. currently been working this way for like 2 and 1/2 seasons so far and i'm only like lvl 17 myself ..... oooofff i have a long way to go lol
I think rare should add voyages for hunters to catch “rare delicacy’s” Some ideas are golden animals sighted on an island which drop “premium pork” or something. Hunting down a meg last sighted at , which grants you hunters call rep for killing it. Or even just daily quests like “hand in 10 different types of food” or “reel in 3 trophy fish.” Quests that recycle daily and give rep for completing them. My friend grinds out fish while I steer, and over a couple weeks we have only made it to 25. All mermaid gems go to them, all fish and Meg meat go to them.
I considered myself a fishing-enthusiast in this game, everytime i had nothing to do, or were just sailing from island to island, i'd take out the rod and try to catch something. That lasted until i tryed to max Hunter's Call. As a "hobby", fishing is nice. Doing it on the outpost when waiting for your crewmates is ok, fine while sailing. But longer periods of constant fishing is just tedious. I've eventually maxed Hunter's Call by selling them all my mermaid gems and the fish i found randomly on shipwrecks. I've even got my Shadow Stormfish from shipwrecks! Since then i don't even remember fishing anymore.

It gives me sweet chills to look at the wonderfull water of this game while fishing, i ended up fishing the 2100 fish needed for all the commandations without it being a pain because i've done it while wanting to have some chill moment with friends or even as a solo player.
content pog!
You're a teacher like phuzzybond but much different in the fact you're an entertainer before that. I see this channel going far, good stuff :)
11:07 - Well of course they're trash. Look at their flag.
I love your content, you are just unique, funny, a breath of fresh air, I enjoy spending time watching you play this game
Yay
I love your channel since I watched the first video keep up the good work
Hi
Hey
This is by far my favourite video and favourite faction
Fun fact: I just bought Sea of thieves yesterday, but I still haven’t joined a normal game of sea of thieves, so all of your videos really help.
What do you mean a normal game?
@@BionicTem Before I posted this comment I only played Maidens Voyage (the tutorial) and the “Pirates Life” campaign. I literally got the game that very day. Since then I played a few actually games, where I would freely go with my sloop, from island to island doing merchants voyages.
Love how you gyes helped the noobs with all your treasures. Personally i would have allied with them. But what you gyes did was so much kinder :)
and you can just use your hooks to drag after the skellies, then you got thoose battle gills in no time, they have a crazy high bite rate.
It's a fun way of adding a little more activity to an otherwise mindnumbing task!
i started playing sea of thieves 4 days ago it's so fun and this videos makes me so happy man please upload as much as you can very good content❤️👍🏼
Love the Merchant ship set, and the video. Im a Hunters Call main when I play, so I feel your pain on the grind.
I absolutely love these. Please keep them coming
Because of the grind you have earned a sub! Great content man
These videos just make me laugh, keep it up and nice editing
just as i finished a 8 hour fishing session. this gets uploaded. love it.
i love these videos bro because even though youre good, you're not insane at the game. its so relateable
Amazing video! Keep it up! I'm always waiting for your new videos!
dont like playing this game myself, but watching your videos really gives me chills
me and my girl are actually slowly going for hunter call 50 and honestly this video helped a lot, so thanks for this :D
I dont mind the grind of catching fish. Feels like an even riskier fishing simulator and I like it
love all your videos cliff.. its always entertaining and look forward to every video you release..
This man makes even fishing exciting, I’m impressed
I find fishing to be the the most chill part of SoT, it gives me a minute to relax and not think about how I'm gonna get my latest loot grab to and outpost without being killed, or the stress of trying to even find said loot on an island or lost ship. Fishing isn't too hard for me (probably not for anyone else tho either lmao) and it give me time to clear my head of stress and anger (Unless I lose the fish, in which case I go AAAAA-), and it's one of my 2 favorite ways to end a long looting session, the other being getting alcohol poisoning at the nearest tavern ;)
It is a MEGA slow grind for 50 Hunter Call, so I personally recommend either selling your meats/fish after you finish a voyage and have nothing else to lose, or doing what Cliff did here, and go hard core, fishing at ghost forts, active skeleforts, and storms on the Devils Roar without fear of any players.
Bro Getting Max Hunters Call is probably my biggest life accomplishment
My buddies and I, back when they had the fishing event, when we needed battlegills? We loaded up a rowboat and went to the middle of the skeleton fleet event. Skelly ships don't bother you in the rowboat, you're hard to spot by player ships and as long as you have bait to last, you were golden.
However will say, 4 people on a row boat is kind of crowed...
I love these vids so much this is my new favorite channel
going to be honest here, my entire progress for the hunter call so far has been gems and whatever drops i can scavenge up from ship wrecks (given that 98% of the time i'm usually run for the hills if i get some much as a whiff of another player nearby) XD believe me when i say, doing this approach is way more of a grinding situation for it then what you've done mate. currently been working this way for like 2 and 1/2 seasons so far and i'm only like lvl 17 myself ..... oooofff i have a long way to go lol
I think rare should add voyages for hunters to catch “rare delicacy’s”
Some ideas are golden animals sighted on an island which drop “premium pork” or something.
I love fishing in sot, I started playing as soon as it was released to PlayStation. Throw on a podcast, music, or murder documentary, best vibes.
This channel always makes my day better
