Nah i kinda agree. Social media has way too much power to sway uneducated voters. Simply just making a test to vote could solve a lot. Simply answering questions about who you are voting for, and against. And lets say it was Trump vs Bernie, answering questions on capitalism/socialism. Nothing crazy, just stuff you could research in less than a days work.

Kids are growing up not even seeking political content, and being force fed it on Facebook, Tiktok, RUclips, etc.. And obviously main stream news. I think there should have always been a test to at least understand the basic fundamentals of who you're voting for, or what you're voting for. That, or news stations having to label themselves a "news" program, or an "entertainment" program. If they choose "news", they're liable for any lies told, but if they receive new information that what they THOUGHT was true, wasn't, they have to cover it just as much as they did before but with the new information in play. Else, they are held liable for large fines.
No one, right or left or center, should be against receiving FACTUAL information. If they are, they are bad actors.

Jusy curious, do you think you'd feel any different if we adjusted other policies in some way, like a ban on single-family home ownership by foreign corporations and some sort of limitation or tax penalty for owning a home you don't occupy? (Or maybe do that _and_ limit it to "only landowners should vote in state & local, or even just local, elections"?)
I don't want to broadly shut people out from voting, but I do see the value in making sure it is the community who has to live with the the decisions that are made that makes the decisions. I don't know if you've ever lived in a college town, but there were voting drives all the time at the college I lived near, registering students who almost entirely lived on campus, going back home for at least four total months (holiday breaks) every year, and didn't have much interaction with the town. It seemed wrong that those students could change policies and elect candidates for a town they didn't have a stake in. (And this can apply in places like a gentrifying neighborhood where a developer has been allowed to build even a small group of "luxury apartments" in the same voting precinct as a long-standing community that's done a lot to keep blight out of their area and maintain a way of life that they've figured out together over time, as neighbors. A couple hundred wealthy young professionals moving in from totally different areas with different values, concerns, and no sense of community or permanence could easily constitute a big enough voting block to swing a local election that would affect the neighborhood--including votes to change zoning to build _more_ apartments.)
My concerns and interests are in seeing more individual home ownership, deeper community roots, and more interaction with local government, not finding sneaky ways to disenfranchise people, and I'm interested to hear if there's some way to do that at least wouldn't reach the level of "lose my mind." 😄

I don't have time or training to actually go through all the studies and analyze the statistics from the trials and all that stuff, having a fulltime job and family makes fact checking this stuff difficult. It never made me not get vaccinated or anything, but it kinda sat in the back of my mind and made me a little uncomfortable, given the credentials of Mr. Malone and all that. It is that many of us believe that a lot of people, especially ourselves, are rational 90% of the time and emotional 10% of the time. It's actually the other way around. We are emotional 90% of the time. But, what we do is we rationalize our emotional reaction, which makes us think we are rational people, when we are really rationalizing people. Most of the time, if you really think about it, you have already made a choice and then you spend the next moments rationalizing that choice. The choice almost never changes during that process. This is one trick that good trial lawyers are aware of, which is why most trial defense lawyers are charismatic, looking to connect emotionally with the jury or find a way for the defendant to. It is oftentimes less about the facts of the case, which speaks to the apparent problem with disparities in convictions and sentencing for minorities compared to white offenders.

So destiny was talking about how to measure poverty in our country and she starts talking about McDonald’s? The quality of American food has nothing to do with how we should measure poverty. They asked her if she thought the election was stolen and she responds by saying every election is stolen and Her disappointment with the two party system. The instinct to immediately broaden the scope of the conversation instead of zooming in on a specific point is an indication That she has only the most superficial understanding of any of these topics.
