  • This video explains how to turn the hollow sections of the rear doors and the back bed sections into storage.
    In the video, I say I got the snap button fasteners on “RUclips”. That was a mistake. I got them on Amazon. Here is the link:
    www.amazon.com...
    Tools needed:
    -18 of the above fasteners(this is enough to make all 4 storage areas)
    -Vice grips
    -3/4 inch drill bit
    -1 inch hole saw
    -Reciprocating saw or hack saw
    -Small grinder or sand paper
    -Thread locker
    Please like and subscribe if you like this video. Thanks.

    Great video. I actually did the storage on the rear panels and found that self adhesive weather stripping helped keep the dust out.

    Great video. I'm going to hopefully go buy one of these tomorrow after running a polaris ranger for a year and I was disappointed in the amount of storage options the pioneer has compared to the ranger, so this really helps!

      @peytonhorn2833 I did actually and so far I'm pretty happy with it overall. I use it pretty much like a car at the moment and one of these days when I get off my rear I'm going to put on all the stuff I got for it like the new front bumper, winch, extra lights, etc...

    I did this storage idea on my pioneer and after a few rides, the push button latches were near impossible to function. The grit and dirt from the trails has the buttons nearly inoperable. Serious pain the the neck there on afterwards.
    But. Huge storage area and seemingly a good idea.

    Loctite is not needed on plastic panels but if it makes you feel better have at it lol. Put a piece of marine vinyl over the holes you cut out, only screw it down across the top, to create a “flap” any water/dirt that runs down behind the panel will not go in the hole this way.

    When I popped out the original black tabs, there is nothing but a hole in the plastic. Nothing for the screw to screw into. Did you insert anything into the hole or is there something there for the screw to screw into?

    • @fishandsheds1771
      @fishandsheds1771  Год назад

      I am not sure what black tabs you are referring to. On mine, the panels were held in with screws. You unscrew the panel, then screw post into the hole. Drill out the panel and insert the snap button. No black tab.
      Is yours a newer year? Wondering if they changed something. Sorry I am not more help.

      My 2022 Pioneer 1000-5 only had the plastic push tabs that hold the panels on. I used M6 rivet nuts and the rivet nut tool to give the ball/ bolt something to thread into. Once I got the ball/bolt set to the dept I need for the push button to latch on to it without a lot of play, I locked the ball/bolt into place from the inside with the nut that was provided with the ball/bolt. I used a pair of vice grip pliers to hold the end of the ball(applied enough pressure to grab it without tearing up the ball)while I tighten the nut up against the backside of the rivet nut. I also used loc-tite on the threads. Hope this makes since and works for you.

    Have you had any issues with rainwater going behind the panel/door and running into the hole you cut out for storage?

    • @fishandsheds1771

      I have not had any issue. I have seen others add weather stripping around the cut opening, but I haven’t had a reason to yet. Thanks for watching!

      I have been incredibly happy with them. No issues and they have lots of miles on them.

    • @fishandsheds1771

      No. None at all and they have been caked in snow and covered in mud to many times to count. So far, no issues.

      @@fishandsheds1771 I love the fit and finish of it. Really adds to the usability of the machine. Would I be correct in assuming that the posts are the 2” version vs the 4” version? I’m in Canada so I have a different eBay portal. The link you gave takes me to the US eBay site, but doesn’t reference the length of post. Can’t wait to tackle this project!

    Hey my new 2022 1000-5 didn't have screws holding the pannel. Has those crappy push plug plastic things. Now if I use a nuts on the studs the pannel hangs ofd the rig by a bit. Any ideas

    • @fishandsheds1771
      @fishandsheds1771  2 года назад +1

      Could you attach something(maybe a piece of sheet metal) on the inside of the with rivets or glue, then drill your hole and attach nuts? Or I think they make other fasteners designe for those holes-similar to the hood fasteners? Trying to picture what you have going. Too bad they went to the plastic push rivets.

    • @ryleewatson6849
      @ryleewatson6849 2 года назад

      @@fishandsheds1771 so the studs I have are just like yours. I got two nuts and two washers. One set inside and one outside to prevent it going in and out. But it makes the pannel hang off far. And look silly. I was thinking a just getting the threaded things you have. How do they attach?

    • @fishandsheds1771

      Did my 2023 yesterday. Get some 6mm rivet nuts and a tool and add your own inserts. They fit perfectly and the stud threaded in and used one if the nuts on the backside to lock it in place.
