I bought the model down from this the 5000mbs read 4500mbs write S660 1TB model. Thing that swung me was the 5 year warranty. I emailed them after purchase and they responded very quickly and confirmed that my warranty was automatically activated and if I have any problems to send it back. I figured if a company, no matter where they are based in the world is confident enough in their product to offer a 5 year warranty, it was worth a try. So far so good, it works as advertised.
still working ? i just ordered one
I'll order one too. Has the SSD already caused problems?
How is it?????? Thinking about ordering
Another interesting video. Really enjoying all your content. Please keep it up. I'm usually unable to catch the live streams but watch every second of the recordings. That SSD looks like a real find. It will be interesting to see how it performs over time. I'm going to start using your Amazon link for all my purchases.
I purchased a slightly used Gateway Laptop w/Intel i5 1035G1, 16GB Ram, 256GB M.2 SATA SSD via eBay Nov 2021. I bought it for use as a backup PC in case we had to "BUG Out" because of wildfires. The laptop came with a 256GB "Fanxiang" M.2 SATA SSD. I used the laptop 4-5 times per month for about 18 months before I decided to upgrade to 1TB drive. IME I never had a problem with the unknown "Fanxiang" M.2 SSD including major Windows updates; however, it wasn't nvme either - speed was around standard at 550mbs.
Missed the live show, was getting my bills together for the 1st of the month. Looking forward to seeing the MB in the case and firing it up. Take care and see you on the next video. Take care 🤠👍✌
I think the red 'tag' on the product name letters 'R' and 'a' are part of the letters making them 'F' and 'g'. Excellent video as per usual Carey.
I purchased this Drive as well, for 2TB and PCI-E 4!?! I’m gonna revamp my rig and put into a new custom SFF case and I am gonna use this drive as the OS drive.
I have used KingSpec, Netag, and Fanxiang, all actually have worked very well for the price for the drives.
I have the cheaper gen 4 S660 and have been using it for a month to store only my games and the speeds are as advertised and gets the job done can't complain
Same here.
I got 2 of the 4tb S880 and 4 of the 2tb S660 and they are great value drives
Hi, does yours the speed drops significantly after uses? Kinda abit afraid buying the brands tho.
I am absolutely blown away by the price of SSDs this summer. 80 bucks for 2TB!??? I am ordering a couple!
yes, you have a good taste, FanXiang is nice brand in China!😊
Thanks for the great review! Are they using the YMTC 128/232 layers NAND chips
Fanxiang S790 uses the YMTC 232-layer. The specs for S880 is supposedly identical, meant for export market. But it's likely the S880 might ship with 4 NAND chips instead of the 2 chips preferred by Chinese reviewers and consumers.
As shown in almost all SSD reviews in Amazon, there is almost always 2-3% who would rate 1 star and have problems. Just buy any with specs you deem acceptable and pray to probability god that you're not one of those 2-3%. Even samsung is without exception.
Indeed. But out of these 2 or 3 percent 1 percent are those geniuses who don't format their new drive and blame it on manufacturers.
I remember buying my 500gb WD black ssd for over $150cad, now I'm finding better ones for under $100. Never thought I'd see the day that these became more affordable
Just picked up (2) 4 TB drives for $454 with tax from Amazon. There are reports of drives being DoA for the previous generation. Going RAID 0 in my Minisforum UM790 Pro!
Hi there I’ve the same um790 coming in a couple days, what nvme did you go for and any setup tips, I got the barebones but going to place a 4tb (maybe the s880) + wd850x 2tb + 2tb s880 as a backup for photos etc in case the main does die, better than monthly subs perhaps for cloud space
I have never seen that motherboard before, i kinda want one lol.
Can i put the fanxiang s880 1tb in my ps5?
I received it for birthday. Is it good? It doesn’t have a heatsink.
@@thehooper6499 ??? I wanna buy one but I'm not sure if I need to get a heatsink or not
On my computer i noticed that the watermark stays flickering in the background when watching full screen movies or Netflix rather annoying making it look like your screen or video card could be particlying or w/e its called also first to comment on the public replay :) good work Carey on the informative video
can we expect some longer streams like the old days?
This is a great drive for the price.
Can only agree with the video i have had only good experiances with this company all their drives run smooth fast and true to what they are stating alot of my games and video recording for editing in these drives from this company and when Samsung Evo die down on me these haven't yet
I installed the 880 on my PS5, works quite well.
Does the 880 have a heatsink that needs to be installed? I'm between the 770 and the 880 and I can't seem to find much info between the two. Thanks! :)
@@BIG_PASTAit's advertised as not needing a heatsink
S880 doesn’t need heat sink in desktops setups. But Sony always recommends to add heatsink to any internal SSD on the PS5
I think they're one of China's largest makers for their domestic market.
Do u recommend this m.2 ?
Yes
and this's a SLC too..How could it be??
tlc , not slc
The only thing that I question is Made in China but everything seems and looks good. I just bought a 4tb SSD for $160
Let’s hope it does me good. 5 year warranty so if ya see this comment in 5 years, reply and I’ll get back to you lol
Yeah, but all of the top memory, SSDs and motherboards are all made in China also, with some being made in South Korea as well. But most of all the components come from China anyway.
Salut
