Also the ability to change capes, skins or whole accounts on the fly is pretty important for me. The fun social aspect is an important part of the mod 😅 (even though I wish they added at least some ways to earn the overpriced coins)
100% Though, the cosmetic store still kinda rubs me the wrong way - the main reason why I use essential is just for the general QoL & social stuff - esp the screenshot manager and the skin changer. The UI is also p nice which is an added plus lol
@@bishan_8617 Yeah, I have a love-hate relationship with the store 😄 On one hand I would love to have more options to customise my game character like that, and cosmetics and emotes are just fun ways to do it. But I'm worried that if Mojang adds something like the marketplace to Java, they'd slowly start limiting what modders can do, just like they've done on Bedrock. But yes, it requires a bit of effort to find, and that's why i already used the mod we're talking about today. I think what would make this mod even better is if it had a guide to setting up your own server, and a way inside the game to choose an up you want to use and a way to upload that in a mofpsck
I tried it for the first time exacly today, even i knew about it for years, my friend asked if we could play together and i gave it a try, 30 seconds downloading and moving it to my mods folder, and he imediatly joined, god i used to spend hours setting up Hamachi server and port fowarding, the 11 yo me in 2011 would've lost his mind 😂

Not sure why nobody has found a way to run a SERVER version of minecraft and host it with friends. If your computer can barely run minecraft on it's own, using your game as the server to host someone else is going to be even worse. There is also no documentation on how mods work. Do you have to manually tell a friend every mod they need to download for it to work or not, you know.
wait so do I give the code that pops up here 1:59 and then my buddy can just put that in the address? and also, if I download any mods to my singleplayer world does he have to also download them to join my world? ok ok one last question, will the server be open all the time if he just puts in the server code.
I used e4mc to play with my girlfriend in 1.20.1 it worked pretty well but recently we moved to 1.21 but until today there wasn't a version for 1.21 so we started using essential and it really is not at all intrusive if you just ignore all of the junk and tweak some of the settings, it is also basically lag-free unlike e4mc for me personally :P
I've been using e4mc since its release, and have loved it way more than essentials. Some mods are incompatible with it sadly, like the Simple Voice Chat mod, but in terms of stability and lag, its the best (non payed server) option out there. Easily better than aternos at least.
How much processing power does it take to run a server by yourself? If it isn't too demanding, a mod could maybe host the server on your computer while also using the open source e4mc to get your friend to connect to it all in one?
@@Cygnus_MC But it's connected to a relay server who sky has right? Or is it just a one time connection to the relay server and then you can play Minecraft without any outside servers? Also, you're only sending little packets of information like where the player is in the world and what they're doing and what's going on with the world. Wouldn't a server that isn't too big be fine anyway? Also thanks for responding, I appreciate it :D
Great video as always, but could you explain the difference between e4mc and Lan Server Properties? Do they work the same way (apart from e4mc's public domain)?
Yet again another hidden mod that i didn't know. but i have a question. is this compatible with the simple voice chat mod? do i have to config something to make it work?
So what is the difference between downloading this mod and downloading the server jar from Mojang? Other than being more complex to set up the server jar, is there any other differences?
Right, so... If I want to open my world with other mods instaled, my friends must also install my mods? For example, if my world have farmer´s delight mod, my friends must also have the mods to get into it?
I once tried to use it, but it charged me the "verification fee", the server creation process got stuck and the server didn't create and I didn't get the refund...
@@Cygnus_MC if u do pls add a part on how to make sure u don't get charged money because apparently there's no switch that just keeps u in the free tier? idk how it works lol
I only use Essential instead because my friend that I play with mainly uses Discord on his phone, not his computer since he doesn’t have a working mic on his pc, so It’s a bit of a pain if I’m hosting the world, because he then has to either open Discord on his pc or MANUALLY COPY the code to Minecraft, and with only one monitor opening Discord can be a bit of a pain for him.
I use e4mc, previously the address was in the Singapore area and the ping was good but suddenly the address has changed to the Americas area which makes my world ping high, how do I handle it?
i still prefer essentials, theres the chat, zoom, chat peak(though no one uses), and cosmetics are decently cool, and u can cheat with a special version
Finally what the people needed and WANTED, goated dev. One question, since the server acts like a lan-ish one, it can not be modified whit pluggins or datapacks right? Like when u make a dedicated server vía console which does backups of the world and all of that.
Hey Nice people, i need some help. I installed the mod and, well, it works, kinda. I mean, My friend can join my world with no problem if i have no mods, but the moment it does, the program asks him to download the same mods i have. Wasn't E4mc meant to help us with that? Or i'm i doing something wrong? Please help, i want to play with them but their computer cannot handle too many mods
Something seems off here, "curseforge monetization covers the operating costs", this seems unlikely as she's relaying the entire player-server connection. Curseforge must be paying well if she isn't even trying to establish a direct connection. Also she claims she is 16 on her website. She's an impressive software engineer for 16.
Quic relay servers can be hosted pretty cheaply as she isnt doing anything hostingwise. She has 2 servers, one in the US anf one in the Eu. U can get those for about 12 bucks a month, meaning all she needs to make is 24 bucks a month. Software wise its not the most complex of the three options. All it does it reroute you via one of her quickservers. Impressive but not impossible
@@Cygnus_MC yeah I looked into it more and I was wrong, she's legit. Although I'd still bet she's running it at a loss. Not a great solution and not a great business plan, but an impressive kid.
@AlexanderjFraser1 i did ask her directly like "whats the plan when you cant sustain it anymore" but to her this is more a passionproject then a business. And cuz its open source eventually if she quits you can just continue without her servers
dude making servers is so easy all you gotta do is js port forward on your pc and on your router, then start up server.jar literally so easy just double click server.jar, change eula to true, then double click server.jar again BOOM
Hey, great video. Super informative, and e4mc works wonder for my modded server. However, I can´t seem to find out how to install datapacks. I run minecraft through the Prism Launcher and I can´t seem to find the server settings folder
But what if i have client sided mods like connectable chains for examples. Will it work the same for my friends, or do they need to also have that mod installed?
E4mc runs really bad if youre away from its servers because it uses a technique called relaying to do the easy multiplayer, so unless youre from the north side of the world, yeah, dont bother.

(if possible supports cracked players)
Essential supports lower versions
That easy? What a cool mod. Nice to know I have options.
Epic video 😎
Quick question is that is the server still open if you close your computer?
How much processing power does it take to run a server by yourself? If it isn't too demanding, a mod could maybe host the server on your computer while also using the open source e4mc to get your friend to connect to it all in one?
Thats what your already doing with a singleplayer session. E4 just opens it upto others. Tho servers use around 4-6gb of ram*
Geez this guy billydabongo made a video just like this today!!??
Essential is basically bedrock for java
This is a great way of putting it
Check out world host mod as well. It also lets you play multiplayer really easily from your single player world.
Up next :3
Great video as always, but could you explain the difference between e4mc and Lan Server Properties? Do they work the same way (apart from e4mc's public domain)?
Yep basically the same. Because minecraft singleplayer is just a server in itself all e4 needs to do is connect you to others
Nothing much other then with a server u need to portforward
Right, so... If I want to open my world with other mods instaled, my friends must also install my mods? For example, if my world have farmer´s delight mod, my friends must also have the mods to get into it?
Yes|, all parties need the same mods installed
you should make a tutorial on how to set it up with oracle as you described
Hmmm mayhaps
I once tried to use it, but it charged me the "verification fee", the server creation process got stuck and the server didn't create and I didn't get the refund...
It would be nice to see a tutorial from Cygnus, im interested to learn how to setup in oracle
@@Cygnus_MC if u do pls add a part on how to make sure u don't get charged money because apparently there's no switch that just keeps u in the free tier? idk how it works lol
Can you use it with cracked Minecraft???
how do I make this work with create: above and beyond? I don't see version of e4mc that goes down to 1.16.5
just wanted to make sure both e4mc and essential need you(the host) to be on the server for your friends to join correct?
They do yes
Figura + e4MC is basically Essentials but no store and bullshit-less
Figura is so underrated
What’s Figura?
@@Essentialanimations Allows to make yout own 3d models for the player
hey i added this mod but when my bro try to join me it wont connect at all for some reason, do he need to be on fabric to or it dont matter?
i use cracked version of minecraft but it says "Try restarting your game and the launcher" i already did it and it doesn't work
I only use Essential instead because my friend that I play with mainly uses Discord on his phone, not his computer since he doesn’t have a working mic on his pc, so It’s a bit of a pain if I’m hosting the world, because he then has to either open Discord on his pc or MANUALLY COPY the code to Minecraft, and with only one monitor opening Discord can be a bit of a pain for him.
Your friend might want to use ' WO Mic ', it allows you to use your phone's microphone on a computer and it's relatively easy to set up :)
@@siIlygoober. Thank you! We’ll try it!
@@cvdusey Aye, let me know if it works!
Simple voicechat works with this mod? Does it automatically configure itself to the port of the server??
I use e4mc, previously the address was in the Singapore area and the ping was good but suddenly the address has changed to the Americas area which makes my world ping high, how do I handle it?
Oh wow, very generous of her to just provide those servers for free to everyone :D
i still prefer essentials, theres the chat, zoom, chat peak(though no one uses), and cosmetics are decently cool, and u can cheat with a special version
Finally what the people needed and WANTED, goated dev. One question, since the server acts like a lan-ish one, it can not be modified whit pluggins or datapacks right? Like when u make a dedicated server vía console which does backups of the world and all of that.
Oh u can just have a mod installed no worries. Even datapacks should work. And if u install a backup mod to your game it should work too
@@Cygnus_MC Nicee, thank You for answering
Ty, now i can be happy
So how do friends join the server, do they click on play multiplayer and click on direct connection and paste that link in IP address??
Yes
And cuz its open source eventually if she quits you can just continue without her servers
ty I can play wit my friends now
dude making servers is so easy
all you gotta do is js port forward on your pc and on your router, then start up server.jar
literally so easy just double click server.jar, change eula to true, then double click server.jar again
BOOM
port forwarding is not that easy sometimes and it is not available for some people
@@nezons how
@@Bl0xxy well for example, some isps block the port for minecraft, or they have dyamnic ips so your public ip constantly changes
@@nezons for dynamic ips just set up a simple discord bot to change the ip shown to yours, or js let your friend know
@@nezons and if 25565 is blocked change the port
Hey, great video. Super informative, and e4mc works wonder for my modded server. However, I can´t seem to find out how to install datapacks. I run minecraft through the Prism Launcher and I can´t seem to find the server settings folder
Like essential this also does not work for cracked Minecraft?
It has some problems like it says an error occurred 😔 pls help me
whell if you open a server to LAN anyone can join in local network if you apply it to startup then you got it?
But what if i have client sided mods like connectable chains for examples. Will it work the same for my friends, or do they need to also have that mod installed?
Same mod
Everyone will need the same mods installed. It’s basically the same as connecting to a normal server.
Someone remembers Radmin VPN? Its exist, if you don't know
Where do you need to open that link. Just send it to them per Discord and turn they click on it?
Does you have to own a oroginal mc account to use this?
Is there something like e4mc but on lower versions than 1.17? Like 1.12.2 / 1.7 / 1.8
Nice, this help me to play with a friend, but other friend can't join because he plays on cracked. Is there a way to allow it to join?
~~Nice~~
There's also World Host, btw

@@Cygnus_MC yippeee!!
Can the people not running the server join it without you? I imagine not
Pebble
E4mc runs really bad if youre away from its servers because it uses a technique called relaying to do the easy multiplayer, so unless youre from the north side of the world, yeah, dont bother.
