So excited to see that ya'll are in Monterrey. My husband and I live in San Antonio, TX but travel there every couple of months to see friends and family. Soon we will start a remodel of our Monterrey house. We have traveled Mexico extensively but Monterrey makes sense to us as a future home base. The culture is one that reveals it depth over time. A hard working city that is all about friends, family and food on the weekends.

Hi guys. You've went to other side of the country. That's cool because it will allow you to get glimpse about how life in the Northern Mexico is. Many people, me included, have the opinion that Mexico is a collection of several countries within the same territory. Life if Northern Mexico is very different to life in the Yucatan peninsula. If museums is your thing, I would recommend checking out two awesome museums located very close to the Paseo Santa Lucía : the Museum of the North East and the Mexican History Museum. As you mentioned, MTY is not a tourist city nor a cultural center of relevance, so you may want the 2 pueblos mágicos not far from MTY: Linares and Santiago. Wish you good luck. Hugs

Monterrey is really different to other cities in Mexico, isn’t a typical Mexican tourist city, it doesn’t have a lot of colonial or historical architecture; I think this city is for the people who like modernity because this is what Monterrey is about. For me, Monterrey is the most modern city in Mexico, and specially San Pedro Garza García which is in Monterrey metropolitan area. I think it will be interesting to visit that part of the city, Sn Pedro is the most secure and most wealthiest city in Latin America; so walking to the streets of it you will see Ferraris and Porsches like a normal thing, it’s known that all of the millionaires of Mexico live there or at least have a house there; also in the malls you will see all of the luxury boutiques you can imagine. San Pedro is surrounded by mountains and high buildings and that makes is really beautiful. There’s a little park that I love visiting called “Parque El Granate” close to Chipinque mountain, the views you get from there are incredible and that park is in one of the richest neighborhoods of the city so you will be surrounded by big mansions. In San Pedro you can walk through the “Calzada Del Valle” avenue and walk through the streets near there; outside of the “centro” de San Pedro you will need a car to travel, so take that in mind. I loved your video!

    Welcome to Monterrey!! 🤠
Here are a few facts about this city:
1: Yes, indeed, people from Monterrey we speak or at least have a little known of english, because we like to go shopping in Texas or other american cities. 🇺🇸❤️
2: Definetly Monterrey is a urban city 100%, it doesn't have colonial architecture, beaches or at least archeologic prehispanic ruins, but here are many of the great corporatives or industries of Mexico such as Coca-Cola FEMSA (OXXO), Vitro, Alfa, CEMEX, Cervecería Cuauhtémoc (Beer company), Gamesa and etc.
3: Monterrey by now is the 2nd most important city in Mexico, the 2nd most populated, and the richest city in the whole country.
I hope you have a great experience here, Monterrey is your house too. ❤️

If u wanna really see the wealthyness of Monterrey (really had seen nothing yet) head to the Area of San Pedro Garza Garcìa which is the richest part of Monterrey, (Most parts of Monterrey are descent, and others rich but hear me out this is next level) where the millionaires and billionaires in Monterrey live, San Pedro Garza Garcìa is the richest are in al latin america competingfirectly with the US in some aspects. The area is know for its impresive and beautiful skyline with a ton of luxury buildings, malls, giant mansions, golf clubs and the views of yhe mountains making it stunning to see!!!! and everyone almost everyone drives 100k+ dollar vehicles, yeah San Pedro Garza Garcìa is a complete different world compared to other parts of Monterrey, but is still Monterrey and hojestly im really proud of it!!!, personally i had lived in San Pedro and call me crazy but honestly it feels like ur in a complete different country! Im from Monterrey so if u wanna hear more i will be more than happy to answer any possible questions you may have :D!!!!

Monterrey has the richest cities in all of Latin America, Monterrey as the capital, San Pedro the richest city and with the best quality of life in Latin America, San Nicolas de los Garza, has the best police in Latin America, has the tallest buildings in All of Latin America and soon a megatall of more than 500 meters that will be the 3rd largest in the entire continent, it has the best universities in all of Latin America, it has the least poverty in all of Latin America and it is going down more and more, it has the longest and most expensive artificial river In all of Latin America, in fact, it is the only one, it has the best salaries in almost all of Mexico, only below CDMX, I don't need time to decide Monterrey is on the rise for a long time and is the best city.

    • @fourthdeconstruction
      @fourthdeconstruction 2 года назад

My god what a lot of incorrect facts in one comment. 1) Monterrey is a city, a city can't have cites within it. So San pedro is a suburb/municipality independent of Monterrey.
2)Police, the police force of CDMX is largest police force in Mexico. Please explain how another municipality has the best police in Latin America. By the way the safest city in Mexico is Merida Yucatan. Merida is actually 2nd safest city in North America not Latin America.
      3) Out of the top ten universities in Mexico only 2 universities are in Monterrey and the best university is in Brazil so I don't know where you got what you wrote.
      4) The building or project that you're talking about is Torre Rise and when completed will stand 456 meters and no more 500 meters as you stated.
      5) If Monterrey has the lowest poverty in Latin America why you see more people asking for money in the streets in Monterrey than in Merida or Queretaro?
      6) As for salaries, Queretaro, Guanajuato, Aguascalientes have high salaries too due to their car and plane parts manufactures and other tech industries but of course CDMX's salaries are the highest in Mexico.
      7) Monterrey is not on the rise. Monterrey, in fact the entire state of Nuevo Leon doesn't have money for new public projects. The state government has a lot of debt. In 2020, Monterrey's economy contracted 9.1% when on average the Mexican economy contracted 8.1%. In addition Monterrey has security problems you can see it in the news carjacking, people being shot and violent football fans.

Good video! And yes, due to the fact, That Monterrey is so close to texas, Monterrey is like a typical US city, it’s not that walkable, if you want to have fun, you need a car to get to places like Cola de Caballo, las grutas de García or Chipinque. Also the sports culture in Monterrey is the best in all of Mexico as they have the best soccer fans, and home 2 different teams. Tigres and Monterrey, (Tigres is the best). Also, you should check out next time, other than las Grutas de García and cola de caballo, you need to go to El Potrero Chico in Hidalgo, Nuevo León, like 45 min outside the city, and San Pedro Garza García where all the real rich stuff is out, it’s honestly another world in San Pedro. But yes, next time you go, I recommend to rent a car! Or pay Uber!! Other than that good video! But final thought, I believe Monterrey is the 3rd largest city behind Guadalajara and Mexico City.

    Possum? 😂🤣😂Opossum? 🤣😂🤣
Actually, I think those may have been "coatimundi", or simply "coati".
(Someone correct me if I am wrong.)
They are a cousin to the raccoon and are common in more arid areas of northern México, south Texas, AZ & NM.
They aren't particularly aggressive, but those living along the trail probably get a lot of food from their frequent human interactions. They were likely looking for a handout and/or they smelled those sammiches Travis made!
    Another fun "CcL" video!
    Keep 'em coming!

The drive into the city is scenic from Nuevo Laredo. Cross the border from Laredo, Tx into Nuevo Laredo, Tamaulipas. Dont forget to stop at the Aduanal Building for your vehicle "TURISTA" windsheild sticker. Fill your tank with gas at the Pemex located in Sabinas Hidalgo. Stop at the Restaurante Don Luis while there. Order the Machacado con huevo (dried beef mixed with scrambled eggs), tocino (bacon), cafe (coffee), and for desert something like a pan dulce (sweet bread) to go with your cafe. While in Sabinas, you may wish to visit El Ojo de Agua (Waters Eye) Park, located on the road from Sabinas to Villaldama. Villaldama is known for delicious pan dulce (sweet bread).
Follow Carreterra Nacional (National Highway) to Monterrey. Have a fun vacation.

Fundadora is pretty in the day, for bikes and stuff but really pretty at night, with the light show, also, dont use the boat, walk on the side walk, its really nice to walk that distance, barrio antiguo also better at night and weekends, you van go to the presa, los cavazos which is a biiiiiig mercado, las grutas de garcia is a other very beautiful place , chipinque, beware or bears, they are small black bears but still, so careful about bringing food to the mountain, the waterfalls hike is great cuz you can get in the water, but with this weather, not what I would do, probably there are not many people out because covid cases are biiiig these days, also, this City is not made for walking, so you have to take ubers and buses to move around, people enjoy Carnes asadas here a lot, there are many vegan restaurants also, if yiu want a guide let me know;) I live in San Pedro

There is a healthy population of black bear all around the mountain ranges in Monterrey. Lucky you did not run into any. Next time experience also the other museums in and around Parque Fundidora and Macro Plaza. Chipinque m is a good hike with a hotel/ restaurant at the top. Lots of musical festivals also in parque fundidora. Restaurants and shopping are also a great option. Grutas de García, El Obispado to have a great view of the city. Plenty of things to do.

This is an old comment but yes there is life, just not on the streets, being a car-based city... and specially not in the middle of the day when people are at work...
There is a lot of nightlife, starting on wednesdays and throughout the weekend. Tons and tons of cafes, restaurants, bars and clubs.
Don't really recommend living here, there's definitely better places to live in, but if you're making tons of money you can live very, very well in MTY.
