The Yu-Gi-Oh! DM opening (extended) sounds so catchy and mystical. The song sounds so determined with just few words. Thought I’m getting so much nostalgia from 5Ds and Zexal because of how rarely I listen to it.
These are my opinions of the songs. WARNING: This is extremely long. Original #1: Very calming yet energetic, this opening is like a cliffhanger. It forces you to the edge of your seat, dying to know what will happen next. However, it gradually eases the audience into the mood, instead of blowing up in your face like a bomb. The music is very fitting for the plotline. Original #2: (same things as the first; they’re not really different anyway) GX: This opening is very light-hearted and energetic, making it seem as if the worst thing in the universe is getting a bad grade. However, it seems as if there is something deeper to it (which there is). Mainly, the music focuses on dueling; how it's created for enjoyment, and everyone should show happiness whenever drawing a card. 5ds: The music makes you feel as if you’re on the ride of your life, making you blood pound and your heart throb. It also has a hopeful atmosphere to it, like you’re just waiting for the chance to take off and soar above the clouds. The ending of the song sort of symbolizes a great destiny you’re supposed to fulfill, and yet you won’t let that destiny be your master. Zexal #1: The whole world is waiting for you to fail, but you don’t let that stop you; this is the main message the opening conveys. You won’t let anyone look down on you or make you feel inferior. You’ll keep believing in others, as well as yourself, even when all seems bleak. Dying before you give up on your dreams, you challenge yourself in order to achieve self-betterment. Zexal #2: This opening is mainly about bonds with other people. Sticking together allows you to overcome difficult obstacles, allowing you to tear down the walls in your way and open the doors to your future. As long as you have a pure connection with someone, no one and nothing stands in your way. Together with friends, eternity doesn’t feel long at all. Together, you can get halfway to forever. Arc-V: The music, as well as the first and last part of the plot, mainly focus on others’ enjoyment, wanting people to watch duels with smiles on their faces. Although you want your name to go down in history, your main focus is entertainment and putting on a good show for others. When you’re making people smile, you feel unstoppable, but not in a boastful way.
Growing up with DM and GX was great. But if I'm honest, I never saw much of GX cause morning cartoons before school got shut down in Australia before GX started getting good :( However, I vividly remember watching Yugi lose to Rafael in DM. Good times.
The first and original Yu-Gi-Oh with Yugi/Pharaoh Atem is always and will always be my favorite og Yu-Gi-Oh. Watched each and every episode. My childhood Yu-Gi-Oh favorite too.
1. *Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds - 9/10* (Most well written series to date, best characters & it gave me feels when it ended. Almost flawless) 2. *Yu-Gi-Oh! - 8/10* (Yeah I grew up with this series, but at the same time I'm not a slave to that seductive liar that is nostalgia and I can see that the original series is flawed but still holds well today) 3. *Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal - 7/10* (Not as bad as so many people make it out to be, it had a slow start but when it was good, it was REALLY good). 4. *Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V - 6/10* (Had more potential than all 4 of it's predecessors combined and was living up to it's potential but it flopped *HARD* in the end). 5. *Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - 6/10* (Nostalgia is a powerful drug, but unfortunately GX I don't overdose on nostalgia. It was slow for more than HALF of it's run and didn't pick up until Season 3 onwards but in the end, GX is decent at best).
Amar Deonandan Nope I didn't. I get feels that the original series, 4 years of my childhood ended but I enjoyed 5Ds and actually cried a little bit for 5Ds ending.

GX I thought was lackluster from a story telling standpoint until Season 3 onwards but at that point GX hardly put out duels that were *"Holy SHIT"* this awesome. GX Duels didn't really stand out to me. Yeah it had had decent or good ones but none of them were truly great or amazing imo. Yugi vs. Jaden for me isn't bad but the only thing that made it noteworthy is that you actually have Yugi and Jaden going at it other than that the action of the duel itself wasn't spectacular.

5ds has been the best out of them all, intro-wise and character-wise. The duels become better the newer the series, but 5ds has been the most mature and interesting out of them all...even though arc-v goes back in time to all the past areas

The original is still the best, it get's me so pumped to duel as soon as that creepy Egyptian-like music starts, and the guitar, it just screams that badassery is about to happen! I love GX as well, Chazz is one of my favorite characters ever, but I stopped watching after that. I've never seen 5D's or any after. It may mostly be because I can't get past the fact that everyone in the first and second generation are dead in them. Makes me too nostalgic. :P
Actually they aren't dead. In 5Ds there is a scene where joey is duelling. Plus based of what I've seen GX through to Arc V all takes place in alternate dimensions. This is why when Yuma goes to the dojo and there is not a statue of stardust. That boggled me until a few days ago. Also in some of the most recent Arc V Japanese episodes Yuya ends up fighting crow. Basically what I'm saying is that they aren't dead and Arv V is most likely the final series. There is much more for me to say but not now. It is all irrelevant at the moment. Well at least on this comment. I just want to say at this point I have not seen any theory's yet.

GX is step back compared to the originals, YuGi/Atem had shadow realms and orichalcos life threatening while the GX protagonist was just 'chilling in the school yard' half of the time and dueling with nothing on stake. Booo boring
I feel like GX was a lot more believeable (for an anime anyway). In the original series, Atem supposedly has the power to "will the power of fate" to give him the cards he needs and therefore gets some completely bs topdecks. GX feels like it's just people playing card games to their best, no bullshit draws. I mean they get lucky from time to time but that's it. It's just luck which doesn't always side with Jaden. The enemies get lucky too which is why it's so much more impressive when you can overcome that. Getcha gaym on.
AquaBlast Didn't Jaden is like the only realistic character in show yeah he is the Supreme King, has Yubel, and talks to his monster spirits but I mean when it comes to playing the game Yugi and Atem had the Puzzle's enhanced luck ability, Yusei had the crimson Dragon's lucky draw, Yuma had the Zexals shining draw, and Yuya well.... how far is everyone on Arc V
5ds was honestly my favorite, GX and the OG were also really good. synchro summoning was really basic and didn't mind fuck like zexal and arc v. 5ds characters were so interesting. the cards are so nostalgic and so badass especially the synchro cards. it was creative as fuck. Jayden yusei and yugi were so fucking badass. i sort of liked arc v but zexal seriously killed the franchise in my opinion. of course that is just my opinion

WARNING: This is extremely long.
Original #1: Very calming yet energetic, this opening is like a cliffhanger. It forces you to the edge of your seat, dying to know what will happen next. However, it gradually eases the audience into the mood, instead of blowing up in your face like a bomb. The music is very fitting for the plotline.
Original #2: (same things as the first; they’re not really different anyway)
GX: This opening is very light-hearted and energetic, making it seem as if the worst thing in the universe is getting a bad grade. However, it seems as if there is something deeper to it (which there is). Mainly, the music focuses on dueling; how it's created for enjoyment, and everyone should show happiness whenever drawing a card.
5ds: The music makes you feel as if you’re on the ride of your life, making you blood pound and your heart throb. It also has a hopeful atmosphere to it, like you’re just waiting for the chance to take off and soar above the clouds. The ending of the song sort of symbolizes a great destiny you’re supposed to fulfill, and yet you won’t let that destiny be your master.
Zexal #1: The whole world is waiting for you to fail, but you don’t let that stop you; this is the main message the opening conveys. You won’t let anyone look down on you or make you feel inferior. You’ll keep believing in others, as well as yourself, even when all seems bleak. Dying before you give up on your dreams, you challenge yourself in order to achieve self-betterment.
Zexal #2: This opening is mainly about bonds with other people. Sticking together allows you to overcome difficult obstacles, allowing you to tear down the walls in your way and open the doors to your future. As long as you have a pure connection with someone, no one and nothing stands in your way. Together with friends, eternity doesn’t feel long at all. Together, you can get halfway to forever.
Arc-V: The music, as well as the first and last part of the plot, mainly focus on others’ enjoyment, wanting people to watch duels with smiles on their faces. Although you want your name to go down in history, your main focus is entertainment and putting on a good show for others. When you’re making people smile, you feel unstoppable, but not in a boastful way.

The first and original Yu-Gi-Oh with Yugi/Pharaoh Atem is always and will always be my favorite og Yu-Gi-Oh. Watched each and every episode. My childhood Yu-Gi-Oh favorite too.
1. *Yu-Gi-Oh! 5Ds - 9/10* (Most well written series to date, best characters & it gave me feels when it ended. Almost flawless)
2. *Yu-Gi-Oh! - 8/10* (Yeah I grew up with this series, but at the same time I'm not a slave to that seductive liar that is nostalgia and I can see that the original series is flawed but still holds well today)
3. *Yu-Gi-Oh! Zexal - 7/10* (Not as bad as so many people make it out to be, it had a slow start but when it was good, it was REALLY good).
4. *Yu-Gi-Oh! Arc-V - 6/10* (Had more potential than all 4 of it's predecessors combined and was living up to it's potential but it flopped *HARD* in the end).
5. *Yu-Gi-Oh! GX - 6/10* (Nostalgia is a powerful drug, but unfortunately GX I don't overdose on nostalgia. It was slow for more than HALF of it's run and didn't pick up until Season 3 onwards but in the end, GX is decent at best).

GX I thought was lackluster from a story telling standpoint until Season 3 onwards but at that point GX hardly put out duels that were *"Holy SHIT"* this awesome. GX Duels didn't really stand out to me. Yeah it had had decent or good ones but none of them were truly great or amazing imo. Yugi vs. Jaden for me isn't bad but the only thing that made it noteworthy is that you actually have Yugi and Jaden going at it other than that the action of the duel itself wasn't spectacular.

The original is still the best, it get's me so pumped to duel as soon as that creepy Egyptian-like music starts, and the guitar, it just screams that badassery is about to happen! I love GX as well, Chazz is one of my favorite characters ever, but I stopped watching after that. I've never seen 5D's or any after. It may mostly be because I can't get past the fact that everyone in the first and second generation are dead in them. Makes me too nostalgic. :P
Actually they aren't dead. In 5Ds there is a scene where joey is duelling. Plus based of what I've seen GX through to Arc V all takes place in alternate dimensions. This is why when Yuma goes to the dojo and there is not a statue of stardust. That boggled me until a few days ago. Also in some of the most recent Arc V Japanese episodes Yuya ends up fighting crow. Basically what I'm saying is that they aren't dead and Arv V is most likely the final series. There is much more for me to say but not now. It is all irrelevant at the moment. Well at least on this comment. I just want to say at this point I have not seen any theory's yet.

I feel like GX was a lot more believeable (for an anime anyway). In the original series, Atem supposedly has the power to "will the power of fate" to give him the cards he needs and therefore gets some completely bs topdecks. GX feels like it's just people playing card games to their best, no bullshit draws. I mean they get lucky from time to time but that's it. It's just luck which doesn't always side with Jaden. The enemies get lucky too which is why it's so much more impressive when you can overcome that. Getcha gaym on.

5ds was honestly my favorite, GX and the OG were also really good. synchro summoning was really basic and didn't mind fuck like zexal and arc v. 5ds characters were so interesting. the cards are so nostalgic and so badass especially the synchro cards. it was creative as fuck. Jayden yusei and yugi were so fucking badass. i sort of liked arc v but zexal seriously killed the franchise in my opinion. of course that is just my opinion

Really doesn't make sense Jayden lost his duel passion and let his friends down same with yusei yugi and yuya. like I said that is not character development that's emotion

That guy who went to the Bathroom at school to wank. if you watched 5ds you know that yusei and akiza had a thing. it was teased way more times than yuma's losing streak. haha. tori really doesn't have a thing tbh. Jayden has Alexis rely on him like a hero and has been teased. yuya I can't say for sure. in no way do i hate yuma tho. my least favorite is Jayden and even then I really like him as a character
"Take a Chance" has always been my favorite. The song helps when people try to bring you down to their level.

5ds was special, instead of hiring a group to write a song about yugioh/dueling they held a competition where many people entered songs as options to be the 5ds theme. "Hyperdrive" just happened to be the one to win.
