- Eliminate unwanted metal fatigue caused by over sized spare tires by upgrading to a MP Concepts Tailgate Reinforcement and Oversize Spare Tire Carrier Mounting Bracket Kit. This beefy Tailgate Reinforcement and Tire Carrier is designed to redistribute the weight of your JL's oversized spare tire across the entire tailgate without affecting its operation.
Heavy Duty Construction. MP Concepts manufactures their Tailgate Reinforcement and Tire Carrier from a combination of cast aluminum and steel for superior strength and extra rigidity. MP Concepts then completes the entire Carrier in a high-grade textured black powder coating for long lasting durability.
Bolt-on Installation. MP Concepts designed their Tailgate Reinforcement and Oversize Spare Tire Carrier Mounting Bracket Kit to be a direct bolt-on upgrade for all JL models. As a direct bolt-on, this Tire Carrier reuses the original factory mounting points and does not require any additional cutting, drilling, or fabrication for installation.

Love this video and it was a huge help in finding the right bracket and installing in minutes. I'd recommend using the t55 TORX....works much better and you wont strip the bolt
I'd also recommend zip tying the tire mount to the door handle if you don't want to mess with the electronic cables. I couldn't get the black one off and didn't want to remove a wire by forcing it.
Just ordered this mount. Hope it works LOL
Just bought it for my 22 wrangler, the 35s atturos make contact with the bumper 😅this should do the job
It'll absolutely help! Congrats on the new Jeep and hope this helps! -Zach
Has anyone had a failed tailgate or hinges with there spare weighing at 105 pounds and how long did it take.
Just installed this and the saying holds true. You get what you pay for. The only issues I have is the instructions are worthless, and the powder coat on the two brackets that hold the tire Carrier is bad. I literally received mine with chips that had touch up paint on them and lots of extra chips because the packaging allows the parts to clank around during shipping.
It's a decent product for the cost though. I can't believe some brackets are 600 bucks plus, so I'll live with it.
Just get yourself a touch up pen so you can touch up during install
Has anybody been able to install the provided stabilizers and can provide some helpful tips on how? I have tried everything short of hitting them with a mallet!
Same issue… do you think they put the stock ones back on because they also couldnt figure it out lol
Is it necessary to use the second set of spacers(the ones right before you put the tire carrier back on)
We recommend using all the spacers provided in the kit for the best fitment.
This looks identical to the kit sold by MOPAR...Is it any different?
This I feel is not doing much. Still using the stock hinges. The JL tailgate will hold another 85 lbs, so if you weigh the factory spare and add 85lbs, that's the total weight of one spare you can put on a stock jl tailgate.
I've heard 85 lbs as well but I have heard different opinions about whether or not it includes the spare's weight. I'm running a fairly lightweight 35 setup without support and have run it pretty hard/fast through the desert with no problems. Just had to extend the bumpers and fiddle with adjusting the support on the latch side for a few weeks so there is zero movement. Still solid after a year.
@@NoNamesAvailable81 that includes the spare. Is in the owners manual.
It’s 85 pounds total including the spare. It’s not the spare plus 85 more pounds.
Love the video wondering do have part# for this thx Paul

Will this stop the bouncing of the tire while I’m driving?
It should help! -Zach
Will this hold a 37” tire?
Yes, this will hold a 37" tire.
I stripped one of the bolt heads 😬😬😬😬
Not sure the purpose of this. The extra weight of the bigger tire is still on the tailgate and hinge vs the tub. To me, you just added more weight to the tailgate before even adding the tire.
Yeah I agree. What's the point if you are not beefing up the hinges?
This looks like the mopar knock off availible on amazon for 130$ 🤣😂
This is actually a good deal. The Mopar knock off that your referring to is only for the reinforcement part and does not include the tire relocation part. This kit includes the tire relocation part and also includes the the third brake light relocation part. You can find all three of these parts on Amazon and they will total more than what your paying for this kit.
