I own this tire carrier from Teraflex and it's terrific! The only con is the 3rd brake light is a little tricky disconnecting due to the awkward angle of the connector. And after waiting for over a year, the HD Hinge reinforcement has just been announced and paired with this will make a solid tire mounting combo.
You kind of left some things out of the install on the new carrier. No worries, we figured it out. I'm not thrilled about having to disconnect the harness for the third brake light to access the spare. Over time, that will surely be some broken and replacement parts. For something this pricey, I should have done a little more research first. Real nice looking piece though.
I just want to tell you THANK YOU for this video. I bought this adjustable spare tire mount and it took me about 2 hours to do it but thanks to your video everything was so easy to do. It looks terrific on my new JL and I LOVE THE WAY IT LOOKS!! =)
@@extremeterrain My pleasure and I'll be more then happy to post photos of the process on the official website since I bought everything from you guys. =)
You should make a video of what Jeep owners should do with all the 'factory parts' they take off their vehicles when they replace them with 'aftermarket parts'. Pile 'em up in a corner of our sheds?
Personally I would recommend hanging on to stock parts just in case you ever want to go back to stock. Usually that calls for picking a corner in your shed or garage. Outside of that? Trash can or Facebook Marketplace. -Zach
The stock carrier looks and feels like plastic but actually is aluminum coated in plastic, I had to cut a notch in it and was surprised to find metal inside.
What tailgate reinforcement hinges do you recommend, will this work for a 17x9 with a negative 12 offset and will this correct the issue with the back up camera beeping due the offset difference from factory?
Also wondering what the camera situation looks like with this carrier. As the stock one with this wheel set up blocks some the the view (wheel/tire in backup camera view on stock)

I like the JL stock mount of the 3rd light and it works with my 35s without any issues.

So it’s bad?
Does it look good as a spare tire delete?

My backup camera mount was glued on and did not come off in one piece even after hammering the studs off.

Put them on eBay...?
There's really only three options: pile, sell, or scrap/trash.

How do I order the bolts for the adapter I missing one
Does this not need tire bump stops? I have a 21 Rubicon and will be going with 35s
is this compatible with the rugged ridge spartacus hinge reinforcement?
Well done
Thanks for watching! -Zach
I just installed mine but the top of the tire leans out a little

No need for rubber tailgate spacers with this carrier?
Nope! Not per the instructions! -Meideth
@@extremeterrain what was used to plug the holes?
Actually don’t need to remove the interior tailgate cover to do this.
Yes I like good.
Thanks for watching! -Zach
what number are the nuts to tighten the bolt the Nut that she uses
I don't mind paying good money for stuff like suspension that needs to be well engineered. But for stamped steel and some welding? Cmon.
looking good meredith
Great video man! I just uploaded a video of my Jeep Wrangler with new wheels/tires and a 2.5 lift....go check it out!!
Will this work with a 17 inch wheel that has -10mm offset and 4.36 in backspace?
What size jam nut is that ?
