How to Create a Realistic Multi-Sports Complex in Cities Skylines 2

- I’ll show you all the tips and tricks to create a realistic sports complex in this Cities Skylines 2 gameplay. It’ll have a ton of variety - baseball, softball, football, lacrosse, basketball, indoor sports and more. This complex was designed by drawing inspiration from a number of similar facilities throughout Florida.
We will get some support and service buildings in place as well as some parks. There will be a lot of detailing involved today and we’ll make the most of the tools made available by the community of talents modders and we’ll create something really spectacular.

I'm really loving your videos. I said this before but I really, really like that your city is designed around fun visual features. I tend to play smaller scale and more dense and these videos are making me more likely to take time to make individual areas have a more specialized personality or purpose, and are really good visual showcases of how to use the game to make fun stuff. I like a lot of detailer videos but they tend to be more "practical" and "down to earth", versus "big wiggly pond with houses all around it" or "fully decorated auto yard taking up 4 city blocks of space".
I haven't even watched the video yet. I just saw it and went "Oh yay a new Piccana video!" which is something I also do with CPP and frankly you deserve as many followers imo

I really like your use of custom areas. If you have the "Extra Networks and Areas" mod installed, you can use the "park area", "walking area", or "hang out area" to let your cims use the huge new custom areas. I really can't wait for 2 things in mods: proper copy and paste so you can build something once and copy every bit of it as you like, and either export function in ctrl-c or move it mod. The game is now at a place where you really can get creative if you want or spend a ton of time getting your services all built and functional without bankrupting your city or any combo that makes you happy.
Do the hang out/park areas etc work ok for you? I tried using them a while back in the beach build but the cims never used them. Yeah, once we have custom assets this game will really shine. Hopefully we get them soon 🤞
@@piccana_ I've seen them use park areas, but I can't be sure about the other ones. It seems to work best for me if I make the new park area completely cover the entire area from edge to edge rather than when I tried to make them hang out on patios and use grass as parks, if that makes sense.

@@piccana_ I’ve started to use your techniques to build a more British style complex with a to scale cricket pitch and trying to work out how to make rugby posts (until ctrlC mod crashed my game and sent me to bed)!

The mio road asset pack has a pedestrian road only one unit wide isn't the best looking but saves more space.
Ah nice. I'm not using any custom assets mods in this city. But I'll likely start another city soon for a smaller build more short-term build and get quite a few of them in. ☺️👍

I was wondering, I don’t even know if it’s possible they have mods. Would there be a possibility to build a little military base like either a naval base or an Air Force Base or some kind of army base that would be kind of cool in the city and if it was able to be a naval base, it gives some kind ofpop to the shoreline or to the bay area just wondering thank you
Yes, 100% it could be done. It's been on my list since I put the ship yard in, I've got a fair idea on what assets to use too. So much to do and not enough time unfortunately 😂

You use loads of surfaces in this city. Are you scared of save corruption? I had some major issues with saev corruption for a bit before I learned custom surfaces count as "new assets" and, as those arent supported, the game can implode from them. I would love to use surfaces again but I'm scared of them now. :( Have you ever had any trouble loading and had to revert back?
No issues so far. Fingers crossed it will stay that way 😂

I guess you could. But you would need to speak nicely with someone making decals. I can think of someone in the discord that could do that 😊

Do the sims use the custom made assets ?
Nah, sadly not. They don't really use the normal ones we get with the game either in fairness, other than doing an exercise animation. 👍

@@piccana_ Look in the "Extra Networks and Areas" mod, you can designate any or all of the custom area as parks so they will get some use. The vanilla parks don't have the animated uses we would like to see either, but these extra area tools at least allow us to get some people in the custom areas. You can also place some of the small vanilla parks along your pedestrian roads and use better bulldozer to remove the fences or other bits and bobs but leave the "park" so people will congregate.
Your props are leaving and coming back because of your culling settings. You need to put them down to around 30 and also put never allow accidental culling.

FYI there is a mod "High Mast Light" that totally illuminates the baseball & football fields.
I saw that mod but didn't realise it actually expands the lighting! Nice one mate, I'll check that out 👍👍
