At the dawn of the universe, there existed two powerful inter-dimensional beings. Primus and Unicron, the first a force for life, the other a force for chaos. During a decisive battle, they were shifted into the physical realm, where they surprisingly took the form of giant metal planets. They handled this… rather well, but in different ways: Unicron discovered a giant humanoid form, essentially becoming the Robot Devil. Meanwhile, Primus took on the more passive role of a life-sustaining planet called Cybertron, using his life force to create small Cybertronian robots…otherwise known as Transformers.
Primus accomplished this by fracturing off pieces of his essence into Sparks and built thirteen warriors to fight Unicron, calling them Primes. In a climatic battle, one of the most powerful Primes betrayed his brothers and pledged allegiance to Unicron, forever being known as “The Fallen”. Unicron and his new acolyte were defeated, and Primus went into slumber, using a device called The Matrix of Leadership to pass power down the generations, from Prime to Prime.
Though Unicron had been defeated, the damage was already done. The Fallen’s actions created a schism between the Transformers: the honorable Autobots and the sinister Decepticons. Then, the Decepticon warrior Megatron sparked a Civil War, hoping to take Cybertron as a launching point for galactic conquest. Leading the Autobot response is Optimus Prime, a Transformer who has just recently fallen into the title. Have fun!

we're not gonna even talk about how Megatron was a lowly miner as were most of the original decepticons who started fighting not because they were warmongering psychopaths but to break down the rigid caste system of the corrupt autobot council
They get most about 30% of the actual lore and then just say the premise of the story at the end they never bother doing actual work other than drawing.
The council was not autobots. They were a different rebellion group that tried to do away with the cast system. Although they were more peaceful than the decepticons, and did try to work with the council (there might have been a member who was part of both maybe?) but yeah, different groups

The lore in this video is basically the one continuous point in all transformers universes that then diverges into different paths, hence the quintesson explanation and the primus explanation. It always starts with primus, unicron, and the thirteen original primes.

I actually didn't know that The Fallen was part of the official Lore of transformers. Thought that was just a movie thing. Also, what about the Quintessons?

Yes he was. Also Fallen name was Megatronus Prime and Megatron is his fanboy. Fallen become corrupted with dark energon and kill Thirteen lieder Prima using against him his own sword Star Saber (equipped with spark extractor) before he was captured and imprisoned on eternity. In fact matrix of leadership isn't anything else then Prima spark container mixed with parts of sparks of other legitimate Primes, that is why after becoming true Prime cybertrionan lost his personality and become born lieder like it happened with Orion Pax (Optimus).
PS: Quintessons are basically a aliens who believe that they own cybertron, even if they just hack it not create it (some theories point Vox as creators of Unicorn).
PSS: In fact original design of Fallen for movie was awesome, I still can't understand how they could hose that idiotic other variant, supported by even more idiotic Egyptian plot.

Holy shit. This is actually accurate to the current Transformers mythos. Usually vids talking about Transformers are just based off the G1 Cartoon or the movies. Props, LORE, I'm impressed.

I have to point out that, while this is generally what happens, there are all sorts of different things that happen in different Continuity streams.
In G1, Unicron is built by a Space Monkey, and the Transformers are built by the Quintessons. The Transformers rebel, and drive the Quintessons away. They form a golden age on the planet until Megatron leads the Decepticons into a civil war against the Autobots. Primus isn't in Cartoon G1.
G1 Comics is this, essentially, but the 13 didn't come around until much later. Same with Beast Wars, although it's a different time period.
AEC, Unicron now patrols every part of the Multiverse, consuming universes. He abducts, mind-rapes, and tortures Transformers into Heralds. This starts with the Blendotrons in Beast Wars Neo. Again, there was a golden age.
In the Movies, Primus and Unicron has not been established, but the 13 are. Basically, ignore the movies if you want it to adhere to continuity. There was a golden age, but it was likely very brief..
In Aligned, Unicron is part of Earth, Primus is (I Think) Cybertron, and the 13 do exist, although there are some differences. It's Hasbro's attempt at unifying the lore, and there is a golden age. Also, Optimus is part of the 13.
In IDW, The 13 are no longer god-like, but the leaders of "tribes". There are 5 Transformers that are called the Guiding Hand. They are Primus (He builds the other 4), Mortilus (Death), Solomus (Wise one), Epistemus (Smart One), and Adaptus (Allows transformation). They bring about the race as a whole, and the 13 emerge from these tribes. Also, Megatron originally wants to overthrow the Senate (Pretty much Robot Communists), but the Decepticons snowball into what most people knows them as. They weren't always meant to be evil in IDW.
There are other little explanations of lore, but I think this is good enough.

And it is clearly some weird knock-off universe like Bay one (yeh, I know that formally it is official.. though still stupid), as all Transformers universes have identical (though mostly clouded in mystery) origin as so called "Unicron Singularity" is universal and connect all multiverse on basic level.

I'm not referring to the Shattered Glass Universe. In the first IDW Continuity, there was a Nova Prime before Optimus who became one of the comic's major villains.

Nice to see some homage to the classic Marvel comics, but what about all of the other origin stories too? Like the Quintessons, The Guiding Hand, Nova Prime's racist expansion era, Liege Maximo being another evil member of the Thirteen, or when the G1 timeline was about to be destroyed by the Beast Wars, or the time where Unicron was created by a fish monkey, there is still 30 years worth of lore to cover! XD

I just love how the autobots turn themselves into sports cars and the desepticons (think thats how its spelt) turn themselves into military vehicles and still loose!

+QuirkyAdventures Because the actual vehicle form is really just a camouflage. Their weapons are fully used in the humanoid form. And it makes sense for Decepticons to prefer those forms, as they were originally a soldier class on Cybertron. Autobots were more or less maintenance, and took on civilian vehicle forms.

I'm working on a prequel to Transformers based off the G1 cartoon. Several millennia before sides had been drawn. During the Quintesson occupation of Cybertron. To free the Cybertronians, a group of Earth-based bots called M-Class have to find the coordinates of Cybertron, restore Megatron's (who's an escaped slave with amnesia and is the forefather of the Megatron we all know.) memory, and get through high school in the process. HAVE. FUN.

I never realized how similar to Lord of the Rings and Warhammer 40K the basic mythology outline is.
Explain
Mostly in the form of the 13.
In 40K the Emperor had clone disciples that served to help him civilize the galaxy, then a great betrayal happened when the best of them pledged himself to the gods of Chaos. His hearsay caused the emperor to enter a very long "coma" which he is kept alive by daily sacrifices.
LotR has Morgoth, the original big bad who was one of the brightest of the angels (I am not using setting specific designation, as I do not really care), he corrupted some elves into orcs and caused the first big war. Sauron was one of his Lt's and later caused his own war (Megatron).
It is not 1 to 1, but there are parallels here and there.

The Bay way of doing things: The robots are just around because of a cube and we've just never noticed giant fucking robots effecting the most major aspects of history. Also, robots can be confusing stereotypes and anyone who dies holding the Matrix of Leadership goes to robot heaven regardless of their personal beliefs or species!

Most of those plot points exist before they were consolidated, so it still isn't excuse for laziness of the movie.

In G1 that was truth, but after that franchise start falling apart. Recent renaissance is exactly a result of Aligned as it revert franchise on track. Basically it purpose isn't to replace creativity but give proper frame and backstory where there is no need to create exclusive one. But still all those series are mostly separated universe and so creators can change what they need for the most part.

I though so, but IDW is still G1 series for hardcore fanboys, there is no point in compeering it to mainstream cartoons.
I agree that Prime could be better but still there was far worst than that in the past. I would even say that it could make better use of Aligned then it did. But if we talk about that we should especially mention Exodus. Shame that I didn't have occasion to read it, though from what people say it is really decent novel.
Also even with some unnecessary changes in first game, overall action in War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron is really interesting. I really would wish to see cartoon about that, as that is seriously underused period of transformers history, AC is exactly for that. But we also have most recent RiD what show that there is also place for new ideas and heroes. So I don't see reason to complain.

You are aware that Best Era is G1? Problem isn't lore but overusing exact plot points and characters. Lore is just ground, what you build is up to you. AC don't restrict anything by itself, especially because Grimlock can be in it both hyperactive greenhorn from RiD and bad ass general who was changed in twisted "thing" by Shockwave, frustrated because he lost ability to even talk properly so other bots think that he is dumb.
Anyway point is that RiD proved already that it is a temporally problem, as there is always limit how much you can repeat this same story. So lets hope that it stay that way, with exception of something what wasn't yet explored maybe.

Wait what? Where? I don't recall that in any series.. only that matrix is one of Thirteen spark itself, what was point even in some G1 universes. I'm not sure from where you get that information, though overusing Jesus parallel is in fact somewhat hilarious, but also something about what people joke from times of G1 cartoon.

This is a basic idea of the lore but their isn’t one specific lore because they reboot the franchise constantly so it always depends basically this isn’t the exact set and stone lore. This is honestly just a mesh of popular pieces of lore from different stories that happen to be used a lot

The video didn't go over every single detail because it was made to basically introduce the transformers in a simple way. And the most simple explanation is the Primus/Unicron/Thirteen lore.

Problem isn't lack of detail but that most of it is straight BS.. Unicorn is god like being, but it was created not a primal force. Also Primus basically is a Unicorn just he was split as result of internal conflict, that was also reason why both of them sleep through the most time.

Megatron was a revolutionary that fought back against the corrupt senate and their functionalist ideology. Decepticon = “You are being deceived.” He did not want to conquer Cybertron, but rather he sought to free it from its opposers and later sought to restore the damage caused by the Autobots and attempted to bring about a new golden age for its inhabitants.
Still find it hard to class those awful movies as cannon/lore
