I really enjoyed his signing in Phantom. Expressive, I'm a rock & heavy metal guy, and I have a big thing for deeper voices. That debate is really about theatre vs. movies. Movies have professional level acting that theatre can't replicate. Theatre has professional level singing that movies can't replicate. Both are great for different reasons.

There were death threats to Butler from Iranians and Turks because of how it portrayed Greeks and how it portrayed Persianate cultures. Add to that a lot of critics took the film as being some type of historical documentary, with the portrayal of individuals and the societies and morals presented in the movie. Yes it is retarded but that is why he never talks about 300.
