Amy Adams, the actress that should've won an Oscar by now especially for Arrival. I'll forever be upset that The Academy snubbed her for Arrival and yet she was still invited to the show to present Best Adapted Screenplay to Moonlight. While it's nice to see her at the Oscar stage (aside presenting, she's probably there to support Arrival too), the fact that she was there in the year where Arrival was nominated for several awards and she wasn't part of it made me so sad 😢
I am sorry, but i'll put it right here Emma Stone deserved her oscar for her incredible performance in La La Land! The "audition" scene alone earned her that oscar, when i saw that scene i knew right there and right then she has no competition! No offense to Amy Adams, but Emma Stone worked for her butt for that one, as simpke as that!
In another year she would have greater chance...it's just bad timing pitted against talented juggernaut and complete chameleon like Emma Stone, who transforms into character she plays!
@@Summon256 "Emma Stone worked for her butt for that one" You're saying this as if actors who were nominated besides her didn't worked hard enough? Everyone who are nominated worked had enough, all equal, no need to say others who lost or didn't get nominated didn't work as hard as Stone in La La Land. It's all on what the material that they got 🤷
I like it so much that all the interviews are purely dialogue between the actors and nothing more. No music in the background, no obvious cuts, no advertising in the middle. Just a dialogue between two beautiful actresses. A special compliment to the editor of these videos, because I almost don’t notice where the cuts are happening, the whole interview feels like one shot!
The best Actors on Actors episode I’ve seen so far. It’s so easy for it to fall into a vanity fest. This was intelligent and profound, which obviously speaks to both Demi Moore and Amy Adams.
I can't tell you or express how gratifying it is to see Demi Moore in an 'actors on actors' and finally being taken seriously when she's been making brilliant thought-provoking work for decades. 'Indecent Proposal' will forever be one of my favourite movies of all time - and then there's 'Ghost' etc.
@@gaila.9852yes- I mean that as a compliment to her - I will always defend her - but I feel that there was a time when men objectified her and she was seen more as a ‘sex symbol’ and a ‘Hollywood star’ rather than an actor. I watched GI Jane recently and was blown away. I'd forgotten just how good she was in the role. She should have been nominated for an Oscar, not a Razzie
Indecent proposal is hardly brillan thought-provoking work though! But she’s so sexy and strong, and at the same time delicate and detached in the role! She’s the last great female superstar in my opinion, the real deal.
It blows my mind that Amy will turn 50 next year, sitting down to converse with Demi whose character turned 50 and sets off the plot of The Substance. Shivers
The Substance is one of the best movies I've seen recently, it hits you in the face and gets you hooked. I remember when I first saw it, I was blown away, I wasn't expecting such a ride and I actually wanted to see the movie because I didn't have anything else to watch, so I was like ,,meh, I'll watch this one", the title of the film didn't got me intrigued as well, being a pretty ordinary title but man oh man was I in for a treat. Love the Requiem for a Dream, The Shining and Tarantino influences, the director has good taste, if you haven't seen it yet, get ready for a rollercoaster ride.
Seeing these two highly under appreciated actresses put together for Actors on Actors is SO beyond satisfying to watch/experience. And my mind truly CANNOT comprehend that Demi is 62 years old.🤯🤯🤯
I was thinking the same thing. We always say in these "actors on actors" how great the pairings are, but this one actually felt like a real conversation. They laughed, talked about their real lives and families, and genuinely seemed to admire each other's works. It was a true pleasure to watch. Plus, it doesn't hurt how well-spoken they are.
These are amazing actresses who deserve their flowers. I’m really hoping Demi gets in at the Oscars this year as a first time nominee and Amy gets in soon as well. She should’ve been nominated for Arrival!
first of all, would she get nominated tho? oscar do love to ignore body horror films like the substance and not even a chance when u got mikey madison in the nomination list, anora ftw 💃
Oh what a duo! I love Amy so so much and can’t wait to see her new film. Followed her since Junebug and Drop Dead Gorgeous which still are two of my favourites!❤ The arrival will forever hold a special place in my heart. It was the last movie I watched with my brother who was dying of cancer. The scene with the daughter in the beginning shook us both and he couldn’t sit through the entire film because he was in so much pain. Till this day there is no scene that makes me cry like that scene. The music, the acting, the cinematography….
I love how the conversation between these wonderful women were about, well, the woman experience within the confine of their characters and how it is a reflection of how women should be in today's society without externalizing their true selves. I learned a lot.
Two exceptional actresses right here who deserve Oscars. Demi Moore was so in demand back in the 80s and 90s. She and Bruce Willis was a hot Hollywood couple. She really did get treated badly by Ashton and the fact she and Bruce are so close with each other today, especially with what he's going through is incredibly moving and kind. There is something about Demi's voice is so hypnotic, so rich. The Substance was such an outrageous but powerful film about age and wanting to be loved. Yes Margaret Qualley was fantastic but it's also about Demi Moore and she deserves all the praise she is getting for this film. A nomination should be locked, hopefully a win. Amy Adams has been robbed of an oscar so many times now. I fell in love with her in Enchanted, a true Disney princess. Seeing her in other films including Doubt, American Hustle, Big Eyes shows that Amy isnt just a soft spoken sweet actress. Alot of range. Watching this with these two is just entertaining and interesting how they do agree on so many similar things, talking about their recent projects which are outrageously entertaining and raw but very relatable themes of ageism, motherhood and finding themselves.
my favorite episode of this season / 'round' of Actors on Actors releases. two women with 20 plus years of experience; sharing their experiences. - not to make it about looks as social media usually does, but they BOTH ARE STILL STUNNING to this day.
This was so interesting, they went deep and brought up some points about acting and their lives as women and mothers I had never thought of before! Brilliant for real
"I almost said 'ditto'" reminds me of 2005 Amy Adams when she broke through with Junebug. It's great to see her so relaxed and normal after all the glamour phases haha
I love the fact that they were so comfortable that they wanted to go out for dinner after an hour long conversation. This tells me that they really got along well.
Goddesses! Amy and Demi are brilliant and 111% deserve Academy award nominations amongst others! Amy Adams is brilliant, she's my most favourite actress ever!
Nah Natalie Portman is def better...and wayy more attractive, I was very disappointed when Adams was announced as Lois Lane, Clark deserved a dime, lol.
I actually really like Demi. Ive loved her movies since i was little but never really seen her interviews. Its Wonderful to see a good actress seem just as cool in person. She seems really indepth and intelligent. She always has such a beautiful family. All of those beautiful daughters. I Loved that she did her research on Amy before her interview with her.
Hi, I love Demi Moore, think I've seen almost all her movies, The substance was nuts! Hope the Variety staff show them these comments. Few Good Men, Ghost, Striptease, Indecent Proposal, Gi Jane, Disclosure. Amy Adams, The Fighter, American Hustle, Man of Steel. There are certain movie stars in Hollywood that are phenomenal actors. Top Tier actors.
Wow, that was fascinating! I always had the impression that Amy Adams was 'wisdom personified.' But I had no idea how deep Demi Moore was... Hollywood Press seemed to always be 'hard-pressed' to portray her as some sort of mental patient. Why they would want to do so, is beyond counter productive. Wow, hats off to Demi Moore -you've nailed this 'Artists Journey' in a very spectacular manner... Massive respect... (insert Fist-bump here)...
I think what makes The Substance being the best movie that Demi Moore has ever been in is because the role marks a significant departure from her previous work. While she has a history of taking on physically demanding and provocative roles, such as G.I. Jane and Striptease aswell as subtle ones like Margin Call, The Substance allows her to delve deeper into complex themes of aging, identity, and societal pressures. The film's satirical and horror elements provide a platform for Moore to explore the psychological and physical transformation of her character in a way that is both daring and emotionally resonant. And because she nailed all of this perfectly, she deserves an Academy Award nomination at the very least! 👍
I have liked a lot of Demi Moore’s movies but never really paid attention to her outside of them and I must say it’s been wonderful to discover her as a person, the way she expresses, her thoughts, how she engages during her conversations it’s been a really nice surprise to me
The way I cried watching that mirror scene in the substance is crazy, bcs I know that’s how sometimes most women/girls feel and it was so real that I could feel my face burning and itching l
How? Is demi moore still the most beautiful women to exist. What a true icon. And Amy being so incredibly talented enough to be a cartoon princess but also a pseudo werewolf and delve into dark introspective characters. MASSIVE TALENT both of them

Demi Moore is someone who Hollywood felt they created and never allowed her talent to shine. She’s always been talented , always. This is perhaps the most suitable duo just because they are two wonderful actors who have yet to be rewarded as they should be
QUEENS!
Love this take.
Amy should have 4 oscars by now
Amy Adams was nominated 6 times for an Oscar, and that doesn’t even include her best performance (Arrival) Shaking my head
so true!
Two legends sitting together is everything I need
The pairings this film season were fascinating interviews! Variety always has great-concepts for candid conversations amongst actors.
Well my daughter is more beautiful and talented than both of them.
Coming from the future to say Demi is winning golden globe in january and will get an Oscar nomination. Lizzie Sparkle is the best
Variety has killed it this year with these pairings.
Disagree lol. This is the exception
they already failed with the first pair being Andrew Garfield and Ry*n R*yn*lds but sure
Ariana doesn't deserve to be at that table.
I agree. I love when people get on here and stick up their nose like “so and so shouldn’t be on here” grow up
No! The industry has killed it with the talent and films on offer this year! Especially female actors
Amy adams in Sharp Objects was LIFE CHANGING
I fucking agreeeeee
i third this. it's been years, and i never moved on. life-altering.
