Every country you cover is limited to a broad overview that relates to people with no to some to a lot of background knowledge. Any content left out is a chance for someone to add more content in the comments to further each video. You did a wonderful job of presenting both countries, and I'm excited for the rest of the series! Thank you, Mark 🇱🇧❤🇸🇾
One thing.... The Name "Syria" came not from the the "Assuria"! It's a greek term for the word "Aram". Also in the Septuagint and other Greek scripture there are also the Arameans called as "Syriacs"!
You are wrong buddy Syria did indeed come from Assyria the Greeks called Bilad Al Sham (Syria) because most of its people were considered Assyrians to the Greeks, but because the people of Bilad al Sham did not consider themselves Assyrians the Greeks dropped the letter A and called them Syrians and from that day Assyria and Syria became too separate terms that meant the same thing, just to clarify people of Bilad Al Sham (Syria) were not all Arameans, there were Cannanites, Amorites, Nabateans and other ethnic groups who at that time all spoke a form of Aramaic, even the people of Bilad al Nahrain (Assyria, Babylon) and Bilad Fars (Persia) spoke Aramaic, some spoke it as a First Language and some as a Second language.

@@jbeil-byblosbaalback6850 but those are cities not capital!
Jbeil-Byblos Baalback ... You are correct, it is debatable, depending on “continuously inhabited”, what defines a “city”, at what size do they start counting, or just start at first settlement, etc...
Nonetheless, Damascus and now Aleppo are at the top in all sources I’ve seen, followed by Byblos and Jericho.
Others on the lists are: Sidon, Beirut, Argos (Greece), Plovdiv (Hungary).
They are followed by: Sousa (Iran), Erbil (Iraq) , Varanasi (India), Faiyum (Egypt) and Gaziantep (Turkey) - generally all considered over 6,000 y.o.
But Farid Attrash is Egyptian right?
@@rruma5204 Let us just say that we are (Byblos, Sidon, Aleppo, and Damascus) from the oldest continuously inhabitent cities. After all we are neighbors and have supported each others through hard times, wars, and battle historically, and even still to date.

Me and my brother love your page and it’s helped us understand our Lebanese roots while also making us laugh! I’m 100% Lebanese but would love to see a video on Palestine and Jordan, please!!
I know, I comment your Video too late. All I want to say, Iam deeply being touch by your perfect presentation and I feel blessed as a syrian and lebanese.
YES! MY COUNTRY!
I am Syrian origin and I live in UK. I greatly appreciate the valuable information you have provided on my country. Especially to shed light on the Syrian civilization and the past that we are proud of instead of the sad present. Xxxxx
Big love to the nearest country to iraq 🇮🇶 ❤️ syria 🇸🇾 ❤️hope the peace sit in this great country soon
Syria and Iraq must be one country again
Being of half Lebanese and half Syrian descent, I have really enjoyed these past two Arab Facts videos you've created.

I was lucky to visit Syria twice before the war began. Wonderful place and people. Thank you Mark for this great review of this underrated country.
Comes from India “Surya” which means Sun
