Starting senior year tomorrow, this is exactly what I needed. I am so glad to see you back in the classroom, in your happy element. Remember you are a bright spot in the monochrome setting. Although we are in unpredictable times, your sweet, sweet heart will always be anticipated!
About a month after what happened at your school, the same happened at mine. I was a student in my senior year, eager about everything that was happening in the next six months. I remember writing letters to students at your school, saying “I know I can never understand what you’re going through, but I am with you.” Just a few weeks later, it all changed. Over the course the past few years, and of your journey to healing and happiness, I’ve been along on mine. No, we don’t know each other, and our situations aren’t the same. I don’t think I will ever be completely “okay” but I’ve learned to live in my new reality. I’ve learned to adapt because of what happened. I’m now a Junior in college, and I must admit I have similar feelings to yours. I guess the point of this is to thank you. Thank you for helping my heart heal and thank you for guiding me through this “new normal” in life. You’ve helped so many people, and you probably don’t even know it. Just keep being awesome!
you talking about self-care with your kids made me cry. i am so so happy to hear that it's a focus for y'all! unrelated but I wanted to tell you that a couple weeks ago you said "your students are waiting for you." this mantra has kept me going through the hard parts of starting college and I cannot wait to continue! maybe it's a merch idea? it's been so helpful for me.
So proud of how far you've come! For some reason starting school again makes me anxious; I'm 22 and a Freshman in college. I'm so worried about it, but something you said a while back has inspired me to keep pushing "Your students are waiting for you" Even though it's tough and I'm anxious I know I can get through it and my students are waiting for me at the end of this College journey! I'm cheering for you this school year! You are going to do awesome.
I started my junior year of college this week and it’s feels so strange. Watching your video made me so happy. Your students are so lucky to have you as their teacher.
it's so good to see you back in the classroom! you could see your heart get lighter and your eyes light up as the week went on. so excited for you with this new journey in MIDDLE SCHOOL!
Ms. Brittany, I will start high school in September and I have less than ten days left. I am really going to miss middle school. You are now teaching and it is wonderful for you to educate students everyday. You are a middle school English teacher and you are teaching virtually. When we were in middle school, our teachers told us that they learned so much from our creative and vivacious personalities. Your students can write about the objects that they presented. As for my school schedule, I will see all of my teachers on the first day before block scheduling commences. I love you
This video has made me feel so positive! I am doing my student teaching this year and it’s easy to get discouraged that I’m not getting the whole experience. But I know this situation is only temporary and students will still be able to sense my enthusiasm
Fellow middle school teacher here! I’ve been so anxious about returning to school and your videos have really given me so much excitement. We’re in this together! ❤️❤️
So glad you had a good week! Middle school really is fun. I'm nervous about heading back in a few weeks.. right now, we're scheduled to start hybrid. We shall see!
they really are so much fun. I am STILL nervous, but we've got this. day by day... you have so much passion for what you do and it's going to shine through.
Man you were so much more relaxed before your first virtual meaning than I was. I was so nervous. But I agree, we do it for the kids. I fell in love with my high schoolers instantly 🥰
Thank you so much for your videos! I’m a new English teacher and your videos remind me that I’m entering a whole community and give me inspiration and confidence!
I love how calm you are about the first day of school. I'm starting in the fall and am terrified but you really embody a "feeling of ease" (Micheal Chekhov acting concept)
Love your videos! I was supposed to start my junior year of college this semester, but am taking the semester off to heal and take time for myself. I’be been studying to become a teacher and am hoping to continue studying to do so when I go back to school!
You are such an inspiration! I love the energy and joy you spread!! Im starting senior year tomorrow and feel in shock as well haha!! Ily your amazing 💕💕😊
I have to say that I am so happy to see that I am not the only one who gets overwhelmed. I’m about to begin my internship. I am so nervous. Thank you for sharing your self care tips and just being real and honest.
I look forward to your videos every week! Thank you for sharing your experiences with us. I just finished my first week too and it was overwhelming and chaotic. Hopefully in the next few weeks, I can get a better daily routine going. Thanks for keeping us grounded and reminding us of the little things !
Thank you for this video. I teach middle school as well and the school’s internet disconnected on Friday in the middle of class. We were directed to work from our classroom. It was so hectic. I felt all kinds of emotions. I’m praying every day. 🙏🏽
I’ve been a middle school teacher for the past 4 years. I would never want to teach another grade. They’re so funny, quirky, and since their bodies/minds are changing then they need guidance in how to become a true version of themselves.
this is so exciting! you and all the other teachers are so amazing for finding ways to connect with your students through online school. have a great school year! 💕
I also have been using Bitmojis for my Powerpoints! I love your attention to detail. I think it makes all the difference down to the calming music atmosphere for students to ease into the class. Also, I really appreciate your optimism in these troubling times!
Thank you so much for these videos! I graduated from college last year and felt so lost in what to do with my English degree but your videos were one of the things that inspired me to give teaching a try! I just got hired to teach 11th grade English. I don't start until next week, but I'm so so nervous and feeling unprepared, but your videos are helping me relax and get excited!
i started eighth grade around two weeks ago. we were able to go back full time, but if i were online i would LOVE to have a teacher like you. thank you for having such a positive outlook on having to be online and this tough situation we’re in right now. I LOVE YOU!! ❤️❤️
I’m so excited for you, Brittany! 17 of my 23 years of teaching have been in middle school. They are so unique, and I love their developing personalities. I hope you can be with your students in person soon and that you have an amazing year!
Hi Mrs Brittany, I truly enjoyed your video of teaching middle schoolers and you truly have a passion for education. I also enjoy pursuing education because it has a huge part of my life and it's a good escape. You made a good point in regards to self-care because some people may not think it's important to do things for yourself. I can relate to you when it comes to self-care because I find myself in the mother role a lot with my family especially in making sure they are taken care of before myself. During this quarantine, I have taken more time more about myself by getting plenty of rest, reading, spending time with family, and listening to music since that was another huge influence in my life from middle school to high school. What are you doing for self-care? Also, I checked out your teacher outfit a month ago and absolutely adore every outfit especially the birdies slip-on shoes.
Thank you for sharing all of this! I am glad that you are pursuing education that it is a huge part of your life. Best of luck to you this year! And for self-care I am just remembering to take things day by day and do things that bring me joy each day
Thank you for replying back Mrs Brittany, I truly appreciate it. I tried to take things day by day as well from focusing on music or graphic design. Also, please continue to be a kind genuine person who makes a difference in people's lives.

such a great video ❤️ I'm so excited to go back to school and see my teachers and friends :) I hope you can have a great year surrounded by love, peace and kindness! Always remember we are unbreakable ;) sending love all the way from Portugal 💛
Thank you for sharing your week with us! I pray that things continue to go well for you throughout the rest of the year!! Remember: This too shall pass. Just continue to give your all and love on them as much as you can. Stay safe!!!
I love your videos Brittany! You have a calming presence and make being a teacher less intimidating as it may seem. I am going back to school to be an educator and I am a little nervous what my student teaching will look like this spring when I do it. Thanks for the positive energy you always bring! PS where did you get your cardigan? Looks super comfy :)
thank you so much, it means a lot! I wouldn't say it is intimidating. There are hard days, but there are also good days. You can do it! The cardigan is from a local boutique here that closed down a few years ago :(
What a Coincidence In fact, I’m going to middle school! I know you will be great! (If your wondering why a 12 year old is watching teaching RUclips videos, it’s because I’ve always wanted to be a teacher. / baby sitter)
I'm starting my 3rd week of senior year tomorrow, I feel numb. I mean I'm happy but confused and it feels unreal. Kind of like being stuck in a jar of pixie dust and it having a happy effect on you but you knowing there is so much that could be going on outside, yet the jar is closed. I don't know I have so much school work, college, and many more stuff I'm just overwhelmed. Just existing.
I totally understand. I promise it will get better because I know that this feeling in this moment is not forever. I am sending you so much love and strength. Try to take things day by day and find moments of joy in each of them
So excited for you to be back in the classroom. I'm still in grad school but I'm going to start substitute teaching this year if the schools reopen in NY. Things change every day. This might be a weird request but can you possibly do a video on how you film your videos? What you use, etc. I'd like to eventually start filming teacher videos too.
So proud of you, Britt! I start back to work next week and this video gave me a lot of encouragement! Don't know if I'll be teaching 7th or 8th grade ELA this year, but we shall see!
A few days ago, as I was zapping on TV, I came across the end of the Hannah Montana's movie and I started crying hearing "The climb". I hadn't listened to it since my teenage years, so having been through some things in life and understanding the lyrics now, brought tears to my eyes.
Omg yes! I feel, especially working with children and being on a back to back engaging one-on-one schedule, it's so hard to drink water at work! I leave work SO MANY days and realize my cup of water is still full, then get so discouraged because it's not even 1/2 of the water I should be drinking for the day lol.
I feel kind of strange for not doing a get to you thing this year. I have the same students again this year. Some of them have been with me for three years. It's really great to see them grow. If you ever have fifth graders and then eighth graders, the difference is unbelievable. The maturity is really eyeopening. :) I'm going to do the One Word Project with my students the first week. I think we all need something positive right now.
Question! When you play music as kids enter the Zoom, do you just have it playing from your laptop speakers with your Zoom mic on? Or is there a special way that you do it?
@@fivefootoneteacher I wish I had you as a teacher like honestly that's how awesome you are!!!! But too bad we're in different states. I believe you are in California, right?
Yay I've been excited for this! I loved your little self care clip, I'd love to see more behind/teaching clips if that's allowed 😊 As you've never taught middle school before, do you think teaching virtually has helped you ease into it or has it made it harder? Xx
thank you for being here! hmmm, that's a good question. regardless, I am still planning for full classes, but I think being virtual comes with a lot of technology use and that can be really challenging sometimes when you are trying to do a presentation and balance talking to your class, watching everyone, and engaging them at the same time!
@@fivefootoneteacher Oh I bet, the point you made about not drinking enough water and staring at a screen is a good one too! I admire all teachers who have adapted so quickly, technology is amazing but can also sometimes limit the learning experience. You're doing great 😊 how did the kids find it? Was it hard being back? Xx
I feel the same way about wanting to teach only high school. For my observation hours, I was hoping I would get a high school classroom but instead I got all 8th grade classes and absolutely loved them. I think I'm definitely leaning more towards teaching middle school. Students in that grade level are so sweet, funny and creative. It's definitely a very important time in their lives where they need a good role model and someone to talk to. Loved the video and I'm happy you had a great start to the semester!
That’s awesome you’re working at a middle school now! Middle schoolers are so fun. My dream is to be a middle school teacher with my own classroom and students one day! :) I recently graduated with my teaching credential. I’m working as a tutor and swim instructor right now; it’s hard for me to find a job as a teacher because of COVID. Do you have any tips on how to get a teaching job?
Ok, can i just say. YOUR VOICE IS SOOOOO CALMING!!! im literally obsessed with the way your voice sounds.
Lol! Thank you 💛💛💛

Xx
I need help! I can't decide if I want to teach elementary, middle school, or high school. I was an aide for all three and loved them.
Where is your sweater from?
I loveeee the love always wins clipboard!!!
Me too :)
I literally cannot write straight on a dry erase board to save my life 😂😂
LOL SAME.
Yeah I definitely would tell anyone to just keep an open mind because you never know what could change. I’m excited for you! Best of luck
@@fivefootoneteacher thank you!
Just saw you featured as one of aeries changemaker profiles. So cool and congrats!
They really are and that is amazing! Thank you for all that you do
As far as your question - I made a video about it :)
Five Foot One Teacher thanks for responding and making the video! I will watch it :)
