Back in the day when there were dinosaurs roaming the earth, There were companies that sold mail order earplugs. I had tinnitus since 1982 and was going to concerts at least twice a month and i had a favorite seat in each venue. It was sort of close to the speakers and I thought having custom earplugs would be a good idea. I ordered the kit. It was around $40. In the box was a couple of otostops, a plastic syringe , a bag of blue impression putty and a page of instructions. So i have actually made my own earplug impressions. The company actually did a good job and they worked ok. I have scheduled a visit with Dr. Frink as i seem to have a sweet spot on the placement on the dome in my left ear where i can hear much better.

Dr Rachel, do those consonant and vowel sounds, especially the fricative consonant sounds, occur at the same frequencies for everyone or do they vary hearer to hearer for a given sound?

When will they learn that their hands making impacting noises on the tables goes straight through the mics and into our ears if we use headphones? it's like a Roland 80 bass bomb going off with every tap on the table LOL
