I've been struggling with schizophrenia for 3 years and not one med put me into remission. I don't know who needs to hear this but I started taking them yesterday and immediately, all my brain fog, all my anxieties, all my delirium, all of my symptoms are so negligible that I believe this is going to be permanent so long as I take them with my Seroquel and Prozac every day.
      For help with schizophrenia:
      Vitamins B6,B12
Mushroom complex(reishi extract, cordyceps extract, lions mane extract)
      Omega-3
Take these once a day and issues with memory, anxiety, general brain and heart health.
Also COVID causes vitamin b deficiencies as well and I think that's why there's so many mental health conditions attached to COVID.

I hope and pray that these interventions move you forward into remission and ultimately recovery. Some will say that the sacrifices are too much and “eating birthday cake”, “having a good mixed drink to relax” or “smoking pot” is what makes life worth living…. Mental illness is just part of life (label). As a father of a son with bipolar 1 and daughter in law with major depression who do not take care of themselves, I personally think that you are on the right path. Your husband and children should be proud of you!

I’m glad you made this video. I think you’ve got a great support system for this endeavor. I have depression & ADHD, and times in my life where I’ve taken up a keto lifestyle, my mental health greatly improve. The only thing to consider is sustainability to be truthful, as keto can be hard to adhere to at times and it can be restrictive (but there’s a lot of tasty keto friendly foods now). However, if adhering to keto means remission of symptoms or at the very least the cessation of needing psychiatric medications like in some stories, it’s wholly worth it. We, your viewers, are excited to see how this works and support you! Cheers!

The basic thing is to keep the carbs low, 20 grams or less, and then depending on your body weight up or down the fat consumption. More if you want to be weight stable, less if you want to lose bodyfat. But of course be careful in the initial stages because the 'keto flu' can be painful and dangerous in terms of your symptoms in that stage

My own mental health (adhd, depression, anxiety) is 1000x better on a low to zero carbohydrate diet, as is my digestion, menstrual cycle, and energy.
The part that makes it difficult is the social pressure to “not diet” or “not THAT diet” and I’m just so happy that it’s being studied and taken seriously as an effective therapeutic method. More ketogenic options in restaurants, less pressure to drink, more emphasis on exercise… all these are so valuable for mental health and it’s so much easier to stick to them with a community.

you should check out the book Your brain on Food by Uma Naidoo. She has different chapters in the book on how food affects your mood. There are chapters on Adhd, ocd, schizophrenia, bipolar, depression, anxiety, libido etc. She mentions food to eat and foods to
avoid to help your mood. She even has recipes for a whole day for different ailments. She mentions supplements as well and what vitamins you should be trying to get through your diet. I have made a few of the recipes in the book and I really enjoyed them. At the end of the book there's a cheat sheet of what foods to avoid and what foods to eat for different ailments. As well as what vitamins you should include in your diet. She also has a chapter talking about the Ketogenic diet. You might want to check out this book as part of your study. You can pick and choose what chapters to read rather than having to read the whole book from cover to cover. Thanks and keep up your excellent work.

High protein for me, which is sugar free or honey sweetened peanut butter to get something in my stomach when I wake up, or if I want a snack just grab a spoon of it. I have a lot of stomach issues so this just happened because I don't want to eat but I need to, so yeah. Seems to be working, plus keeping a daily routine and regular social interaction and routine meds yadda yadda. Routine is paramount, and especially one that you actually want to do or don't mind doing every day for the foreseeable future.

Sounds like a good experiment, Lauren. I also wonder if switching up cardio for strength training could be considered as an additional intervention, if that resonates with you. To each their own, though. Good luck and look forward to hearing more!

@@jeanpaultongeren125 I have been off antipsychotics for over four years, as they’ve never been effective for me. While my current diagnosis is schizoaffective disorder, I believe CPTSD with psychotic symptoms would be more accurate (but try to get a psychiatrist to understand).
I don’t run anymore because for me, running becomes about losing as much weight as possible and can lead to food restriction and other unhealthy habits.
I had symptoms of burnout and depression that I’ve been slowly healing from since 2021, When I felt ready get back to exercising, I started doing some gentle movement using Fitness Blender workouts (they have a channel here on RUclips and a website). I moved to weighted workouts with light weights. After a lot of stops and starts, and also addressing some of my internal trauma, fast forward a couple years and I am back at the gym lifting heavier.
With all that said, I know the feeling of being on antipsychotics and it is so debilitating. I wasn’t able to work out at first. Just do the best you can at whatever movement you can manage.

I’m really excited about this! My sister has the same as you and I’m hopeful for her because meds help but she still struggles with paranoia and symptoms.

I have schizoaffective disorder and my symptoms are mostly controlled by medications. I also have type 2 diabetes which responds well to low carb or keto. My issue is I have trouble sticking to the diet. Where did you find the specialist. I am looking for some type of support.probably will do dr Westman’s keto made simple course.

Yes, Yes and Yes! Excited with you. We already know Type 1 and Type 2 Diabetics can manage their disease via Keto under 30 grams of carbs a day ( Type 1 will still need meds of course but a keto way of eating can help keep Blood Sugar spikes very managable). This will be very interesting.

We did the keto diet for my daughter who has epilepsy. It did help and as she has gotten older her seizures have been at bay for a few yrs. Although her kind of epilepsy can have long periods of non active times.

I feel like this may especially true with bipolar 1 disorder. I have severe bipolar 1 disorder w/ psychotic features. When I'm in full-blown mania, it feels like my entire metabolism speeds up drastically. My skin gets hot to the touch, my overall body temperature raises, I start losing weight, obviously I become extremely hyperactive, and I can do physically straining tasks for literal days on end without getting tired or needing rest. My energy feels endless when I get to that level of mania. I also get my thyroid and endocrine system assessed by an endocrinologist yearly and everything is functioning properly. It really feels like I have a shift in my rate of my body's metabolic activity when I am having an episode. This is so fascinating.

I also have bipolar 1, and I get hot when I'm manic or hypomanic, I sweat from my armpits a lot, I lose weight, I never get tired until bedtime, fortunately I do usually sleep well through my episodes, many things similar to what you described.

My mum had type 1 and she was a chubby 50 year old woman but when she was full on manic she could jump out of a first floor window unharmed, spontaneously rolling like a martial arts practitioner, and outrun a 30yr old policeman through the woods. It was amazing. Quite sympathisable why people used to believe it was due to "possession".

It could also make things worse. There's a lot of paper theories about how things should cure or fix chronic illnesses, but many who try them, it doesn't hold up to the hopium. Just remember that many in these communities, if you don't get better, they will blame you for not doing it 'perfectly right'. Good luck with your journey.

She has shown herself to think logically and not fall for scams like that. it's definitely not a cure all (not does she say that in the video) but there has also been evidence of ketogenic diet helping with symptoms in epilepsy for a long time

What makes you think a different diet will make things worse

    • @ChaiLatte13
      @ChaiLatte13 4 месяца назад +16

@@CashMoneyMoore You lose significant weight on a keto diet and it can put a big strain on your body as it learns to use protein and fat for energy instead of carbs. My body does not function without good carbs. It makes all of my health issues worse (blood pressure drops even more, heart rate is even higher. I have to up my beta blocker to compensate).
