Seen Melvins a few weeks ago after waiting years, was SO worth the wait. They were absolutely killer, Steve Mcdonald has great stage presence. The sound was loud enough to shatter a ribcage 🤌🏻
Matt Pike would make a great addition to this series. Infinite levels of riffs and he plays a bunch of Les Pauls. Who else plays an LP Artisan in front of a wall of amps?
Holy crapola! I had to do a double take! The Melvins are my favorite band! I love King Buzzo! He's the reason I have a black Les Paul Custom. I was a total 90's kid.
Love King Buzzo and the Melvins, and it's awesome he slows down the tunes and shows us how he does it. Generous, actually. I was big into noise rock ala AmRep/TouchnGo labels in late 80s-90s. But the moment I heard Honey Bucket from Houdini, my head exploded. It still does every time I listen to it. Thnx Gibson for showcasing an amazing, yet often overlooked guitar god.

“Let all of the bad notes ring out.” Maybe I’m not as bad of a guitar player as I think!
Haha, and there's no such thing as "mistakes", only great new ideas!😄
Remember the landing, play with resolve and a bit of structure later you’ll have a song.
Yeah, anyone that needs to point out mistakes, I'm sure yer great.
You're doing it!
@@mannybravo237 Bob Ross was a titan of thought and action!
Been a Melvins fan for nearly 30 years, and I love it all. That said, I am especially loving the new stuff with Jared and Coady. When I first heard Big Business on their Mind the Drift album, I couldn't help but feel Melvins vibes. Great fit.
An innovator and seems like a solid, down to earth dude. Thanks for making this video Gibson!
Such an inspirational approach to playing, terrific tone too, my favorite guitar player along with Geordie Walker from Killing Joke.
Buzz and Duane Denison kings of the 90's, they give me the energy to learn the guitar and start a band at the age of 14. I'm 38 now, and my love and respect for those guys remain the same.
Imagine if Duane and Buzz had started some sort of side band together. My mind can't process how amazing that would've been.
@@ThingNumberTwo2 Too bad they never did a Tomahawk/Fantomas big band...
@@b.l.fisher8230 That would've been insanely cool, but honestly too much talent for one band to handle.
Honey Bucket is killer.
Thank You for this sublime video 🙏 I saw King Buzzo many times with Melvins and he played this kickass Gibson. His sound is amazing. Many people don't see how it's hard to got his own sound. 🖤
Love the Birthday Party T-shirt. Rowland S. Howard was another riff lord.
Best thing iv watched in so long. No wonder he's called KING buzzo.. 🙌
Billy Fish IS my fave Melvins song. Just has a bit of everything I love. Dynamic, evade your intellect type, riffs with some stand alone drum bits and some really ominous lyrics and vocal execution.
The king of sludge metal🤘🏻🤘🏻
An absolute riff lord!
Saw them live in Grand Rapids Michigan and got to hang out with them afterwards, awesome people 🤘
Holy crapola! I had to do a double take! The Melvins are my favorite band! I love King Buzzo! He's the reason I have a black Les Paul Custom. I was a total 90's kid.
Gotta Love Buzz!!! Met him after a Melvins show.. What a great down to earth human being!!
Awesome King 👑 Buzzo!!! Can’t wait to bump into you again at Philippe’s French Dip or a Dodgers Game… lol
I know I'm late to the party but, wow, what a bunch of great riffs!!
Love this! I'd have to say Buzz is my favorite guitarist. A legend for sure.
Always enlightening to "see" how great music minds work. Zappa's film 'Baby Snakes' is another that you can show to people who aren't into the scene at all and by the end, they realise what geniuses some are.
Well said. Very well said. Me and my ex used to watch that film repeatedly.
Baby, baby snakes! I sure miss that film and REALLY miss her... 10 years later.
This was a pleasant suprise guys! Showing some love to buzz and his riffage!
Inside the mind of King Buzzo! Priceless!
One of my favorite songs to play - Queen. Love Buzz and the Melvins - my favorite shows to catch.
His guitar tone is truly horrendous. I love it.
I'm not a musician. Buzz is a genius! "Let all of the bad notes come out". My greatest wish is to witness a colab between Buzz and Bela Fleck.
Great musician.
I've never seen a guitarist put tape on his Gibby Les Paul Custom until now lol
Between this guy, Kurt Cobain, and Tony Iommi, I swear all the cool riffs have already been written.
The Melvins and King Buzzo's playing was such a huge inspiration on the New Orleans underground scene here in the late 1980s that blossomed into what it is today. The Storyville Jazz Hall show here was legendary!!
My friend always mentions how slow bands are from that area. He likes to speed his records up. I tell him it's because the Melvins started touring down there long ago.
@@anthonycollins6819i think they play slow in NOLA because of the humidity down there hahaha
LOVE THIS! Buzz, guitar hero and super nice guy, what a combo!
One of my bands was named after a Melvins “lyric,” Ludlow. Good to see King Buzzo with a Les Paul again.
Like stee
@@FacelessFlesh666 … moanin’ Ludlow.
Now we are talking - Buzz has written some Riffs that I want playing as I pass through the pearly gates. He is the Riff Lord!
I love Buzz's dissonance. He is the king of dissonance in my opinion. I got a chance to see the Melvins live in Seattle at the Moore Theater back in the early 90's back when Buzz was still rocking the black hair.
Brilliant episode with a legend!
We need a Matt Pike Riff Lords episode!!!
That would be the ultimate Riff Lord episode
Agreed
Yes!!!!
holy shit, that would be crazy.
I agree.. he's the true riff god.. nothing against buzz.. but he can't even hold a candle to Matt Pike's farts...
one of the best lessons that exists. Thanks Buzz
