Melvins. The band for real human beings.
*unreal
and how few of there are of us still stands testament to how high the quality is of Melvin Sludge Metal is
To me, the principle miracle of the Melvins, after Dale's incredible drumming, and Buzz uncanny songwriting, is his ability to memorize all that word salad of his lyrics.
The Melvins are quite good at playing the rock and roll music.
No they are quite not.

One of the only bands on earth that can sound totally sloppy and tight as hell at the same time. Their live shows are the shit.
Very well put ,
Along with Helmet, this is one band I need to see before I die.
@@zeroone7867 yes you do. Just saw them not too long ago. Amazing every damn time
Pavement also fits that description
@@zeroone7867 I got to see them with Helmet many years ago at the Troubadour in Hollywood. Definitely one of my favorite shows. John Stanier blew me away. he played every Helmet drum part note for note. Most drummers embellish a little, which can of course be cool too. It is rare to hear drummers play songs note for note.
Dirty sound, low heavy disorted amps, crude vocal harmonies... This music is all over the place and i fucking love it.
One of the greatest enigmas in music. These guys should have made it big but never did. Maybe them not making it big is part of their charm? Such a great band.
They're still around after all these years. That alone would be big enough for me, lol.
They’re pretty famous for those in the know
@@Followmybliss777 definitely
Define "made it"... Their sound wasn't approachable or sellable for mainstream as speed punk style was long gone in the 80s. But, they still have a loyal following, they are still doing shows LONG AFTER many of the "made it" bands have quit. So I think they are doing alright.
The odd time signatures are too much for the 😴 masses.
But if you take the journey with The Melvins you will find the rewards are great.
The Melvins are the Rodney Dangerfield of Rock-n-Roll. They don’t get the respect they deserve!
Maybe because they're not that great.

Hardest working band in the world. Unbelievable, never lost a watt in energy since the eighties
Best live show I ever saw. Explosive from start to finish
FGvO 1982 mike watt does 40 shows in a row, never lost a Melvin
That version of Kicking Machine is easily 100x better than the album version. Holy shit. What energy. They play shows like a punk band but their albums are sludge metal.
Are they just Melvins?
Tom Senft yep.
Love this band. Dale Crover is a legendary drummer!
Zen Khan Plus he toured with the circle jerks so that gives him brownie points
High frequency Voyager dropping them bombs!
I agree with you 100% Mark. He is truly a beast on the drums. Just so under-rated and just a very humble human being. Can't wait to see the Melvins again.
One of the best drummers ever
Turned around in a tiny mens room to run into Dale washing his hands. " Thanks for everything Dale". " Thanks for being into the band."
What in the actual fuck did I just hear for the first time? I’ve never had an eargasm like this before. I’m left soiled and wanting for more . . .
The greatest and hardest working American rock and roll band since Cheap Trick. Constantly on the road and putting out records, for themselves first, and us if we want in. Gotta love this.
well put.
What about 'Kings X'? Same trio, same three killing it after all these years.
Damn Right!ruclips.net/video/OqDlOKbXuls/видео.html
Agree, certainly a hard working band, respect the integrity to performing and the quality of their music . Anti Flag would be another band that comes to mind that has or continues to gig a ton. In other genres for example B.B. King was just ridiculous doing something like over 250 shows a year on the road or The Grateful Dead who toured relentlessly for decades. On a local level here in the C-Bus Methmatic's are putting up numbers in terms of shows. I'm not saying one is more important or does more than another, I just respect folks with the work ethic and DYI attitude to get out there and do it year after year for like decades. There are quite a few that do- in truth a great many extremely talented performing artists regardless of genre - busking at the club level is just a reality of the profession regardless of level of commercial sales or recorded material. For your local pro musician who is trying to support a family it's real good thing to have the work. The typical problem is most towns have their equivalent to the A call list -the elite few that get most of the work, for recording, Broadway acts, or performers like Dr. John or George Jones, that almost always used to hire local for their shows. To get on such a list you basically have to be a musical god (master multi instrumentalist and of multiple genres of music).
UHHHHH NO.. THEY ARE NOT. THEY CAN BARELY PLAY. AND THEY HAVE NO TASTE AT ALL
NO EFFORT. ITS LIKE THEY ARE JUST TRASH PEOPLE WHO DO NOTHING OF VALUE. THIS ISNT EVEN GOOD IN ANY SENSE TO LISTEN TO
Dale is one the greatest drummers ever! Love his chops. So unique and so influential.
That s right
He is
I wonder if he still has that crazy looking drum set that he had when he was jamming w NIRVANA.
Jeff F-ing Pinkus, ladies and gentlemen!
Literally, an absolute bad ass
He plays on Purpose, with a Purpose
Seeing Pinkus playing Moving to Florida almost 40 years after its release with The Melvins is the best part of 2021 thusfarr!!
Garage world tour. I just love them !
Jeff Pinkus making Melvins little more badass... Like it...
Two bass guitars shouldn't work, yet they're like "mate, we're the fuckin' Melvins!" and then it totally does! So much love to them. It's mind blowing how consistent and relevant they are even now. I swear they just get stronger and more amazing all the time. Their best stuff has been all in the last 10 years or even 5 years. That should defy all conventionally held logic yet the Melvins are still one of the finest acts on the planet. I HAVE to see them before I perish for good.
I think their best stuff is all of it. No joke, the first 3 or 4 records were all amazing too. bullhead, lysol and ozma are classics
Any arrangement of instrumentals can work if one just knows how.
Oliver Cant One down the left side, one down the right side. Buzzo up the middle.
I've seen them 19 times, since the maggot days...best act live
Spinal Tap did it first
Was here and met Buzz afterwards. He's the most chill guy ever.
ok, i had my doubts too (maybe he was one of the ten guys in the room, lol). I would never call Buzzo a chill guy, but this may have been an exception... wouldn't just call the dude a liar.
Zeek McSleek He talked to me and 2 other guys at his van about hair and music in general. Took photos with us too. He was really relaxed and funny. Pics on insta @b.bertenshizzle if you need proof lol
Boh Gro I was at the show lol I'm the girl with the Public Image Ltd shirt
How do you attend these shows? This looked so killer
Agreed, Buzz is pretty down to earth. I got to talk to him for about 10 minutes outside the Hawthorne Theater in Portland a few years ago.
God I love everything about the Melvins. Not only do they represent everything about the underground music scene to me, but they're powerful, unique and just outright weird. Dale Crover is my favorite all time drummer.
"Oh, so my art/music isn't 'accessible to the masses'? Good!! It's not supposed to be! I do what I want, where I want, how I want" - King Buzzo Rock On!

yes. Mostly I saw them in small venues in the San Francisco area. Watching (or listening) to them (at the Gilman in Oakland) convert a crowd of teenage thrash punkers into sludge worshippers was truly an amazing thing to witness.

What a nice group of boys 😃
I don't understand how people can have a live personal performance and just stand and watch. I'd be rocking out!
My first Melvins show early 80’s was at an old Public Storage building in downtown Tacoma. No stage and they were playing old Kiss and Sabbath songs. Truly an amazing band!

I liked them when I heard them for the first time back in '91...I don't know why I'm surprised I love this. They are still great
Why are they so goddamn legendary? I'll never understand their magic. They just...damn, they're good.
Watch old videos of Melvins shows in the late 80's and early 90's, you will see why.
The band is legendary.
HMan Absolutely. From Mangled Demos From 1983 (without Crover), to Ten Songs and onward, they're insane
Mattius Fincham you said what i was thinking, they just work! You cant put it in words, i can say, they show up to deliver 100%, not 110-150% but do what they do, charged to full capacity with positive energy, Melvins fans know what to expect, and the band feeds off the fans as much as the fans do the band!
Between their awsome weird skills for writing music, their inovation in it,their hard work ethics, their courage to do what they want for more than 30 years. There's plenty to choose!!
I don't know if it's truth or not, suposely Kurt Cobain said that the Melvins were the past, the present and the future of rock music in one band! I always think that sentence fit them so well has we go through Melvins discography.
Son of a bitch! That was magic.
Dale killed it at the end there🤚🏻🤚🏻🤚🏻

I'm glad they added Jeff Pinkus to their band.

Such legends! I'm glad they're still going, Buzz and Dale. But man, I still can't believe how short-lived the "two drummers" thing was. A Senile Animal was the first album of theirs I ever bought, but I think I had pirated and listened to Bullhead before, I can't really remember. When I bought Stoner Witch shortly after A Senile Animal, it sort of became my favorite of theirs, maybe tied with Senile Animal.
Wheatus has two drummers
