I find it so dumb founding how Caitlyn is all up in republican asses when they consistently do nothing for the trans community, which she is apart of. It reminds me of someone trying to fit into a crowd that wants nothing to do with you, but still let you tag along. 🤔

For those of you who have totally missed the point, the point Janet was making was that Caitlyn, like everyone else, has her own experience and is vastly different to a majority (not all) transgender people who often do not come from privilege and have a safety net like she does. Caitlyn should not be quoted as a 'trans activist' as she uses most of her publicity to promote herself (my opinion). Transpeople do no have to be democrat (there are many people that don't support either majority party) but to support a party that actively does not support you is not logical.
I understand what Janet is saying, and I am not fan of Caitlyn either. I think that she just isn't a great person. But, to say that one cannot be an advocate for any reason is problematic, in my opinion. Anyone can be an advocate and anyone can speak on issues. Janet and Caitlyn are both trans women and have the right to both speak on trans issues. Their experiences are different, yes, but that diversity is important. I don't agree with everything Caitlyn has to say, but she is still apart of the trans community nonetheless.
People were criticizing the trans community, because of Cailtyn's comments. She may be part of the community, but no one elected her a spokesperson.

Nola Chick Unfortunately this isn't the case. Unless you're an ally, some of my cis friends especially men have the most backwards of views when it comes to the trans community.
I have heard many people critique Caitlin for being trans just because they don't like her as a person. For many people, she is the first trans person they have seen in the media or anywhere. Most people outside of the community (and educated allies) don't even know what the word cis means. She does not speak for the community but people seem to think that she does because she's so visible. She has a right to be trans and should not be criticised for that but instead for being a terrible person. Some people do not know how to separate the two. Especially if they are looking for a reason to be transphobic.

I think we all can agree regardless your gender, male, female, or transgender, there are assholes in every gender.
The trans community is made of individuals from every walk of life , social strata, political persuasion, religious affiliation, etc. Just because I disagree with a certain trans person's opinions or views doesn't make them any less transgender :)

I respect Caitlyn's decision to be who she always felt she was but that's about all I respect about her. For 60 plus years, she lived as a very privileged white male reaping all the benefits possible and I'm not even hating on that. BUT the moment she transitioned, she acted like she not only spoke for the Trans community but the female community while having zero experience. It's like sitting in a car for the first time ever and then wanting to teach driving lessons to others. I was really annoyed too that she didn't give a damn about women's rights being messed with but the minute Trump changed his stance on who can use which restroom, she was pissed. She's rude to the Dems who will accept her for who she is and nice to the Republicans who really only use her for a pawn in their game.

I always try to say the truth, we are all Transgender, we are not all the same, but I watched Caitlyn's interview, it was very painful, Transgender is only one issue for her she says, it is many of ours only issue because we have no choice but to fight to survive, Caitlyn unless she changes to our side will be remembered as our -Benedict Arnold-. Olympics and everything else who cares. I defend Caitlyn's right to live her truth as a Trans Woman, I dont defend her comments or actions. And that's okay. Just because we stop liking Caitlyn, doesnt mean we stop believing that she has the right to be who she is.
It's sad that the most famous trans person doesn't stand up for the rights of transpeople and doesn't stand for what the community is actually about.
Why does Caitlyn Jenner have to be Janet Mock to be a trans woman. Why does a trans woman have to be democrat? Why does a trans woman have to poor? Why does every trans woman have to have the same politics? Why does every trans woman have to agree on everything? Why does a trans woman have to be a victim? It's like saying that every gay person has to be clone of each other to be a homosexual. The same left that screams for tolerance is grotesquely intolerant sometimes.
This is the very reason why I don't associate with the LGBT community. They're a hive mind that doesn't allow diversity of opinions because they think all conservatives are Nazis.
As a black transgender person. I think that Caitlyn's contribution to the community has been vast. When people like Janet try to throw shade at Caitlyn, for me it's indicative of their jealousy, for lack of a better word. You can combine Janet's books, nationally exposed interviews, high profile jobs, education and it's still didn't have the mainstream impact of Caitlyn merely transitioning. If Ms Mock were to be truly honest, she'd agree with me. I'll admit, Janet's work has served her well. But the very things about Caitlyn, Ms Mock despises, her wealth, skin color, most certainly her privilege. Are the very things that have had the most positive impact for transgender awareness. Let's face it, if you will. Janet is a smart and accomplished woman, I give her that. Yet her impact was still limited. When Caitlyn Jenner came on the scene, with her notoriety alone, the whole world and I mean the whole world took notice. With all of her snobbish critique of Caitlyn Jenner can she say her impact was as significant. She could, but it wouldn't be true.

Caitlyn hasn't had anything to say negative about Ms Mock. Is Caitlyn Jenner perfect in her alliance to the LBGT community, I'll answer that for you, no. But does she deserve to be vilified by Ms Mock, again no. Disagree with Ms Jenner if she must, but to say we don't need that shows a lack of decorum. What else could fuel such a response from Ms Mock. In my humble opinion there's only one thing...jealousy.
I think Janet’s comments about race, class and privilege are more a critique of *society* paying more attention to people who are “monied, white, and privileged” than exclusively of Caitlyn’s particular circumstances. The “whole world” took notice because the world advantages the narratives and experiences of a certain kinds more than others, not just for trans people, but for people in other circumstances as well: missing children, substance use epidemics, legal representation, social mobility, etc. Why is it snobbish to bring public attention to this observation about the mainstream?
@@sukani84437 I get what you're trying to say about the disadvantaged. For most mainstream people transgender was always associated with being disadvantaged. Those that weren't were hiding that fact that they were trans to blend in. Jenner pulled back the curtain on all of that in spectacular fashion. Showed the world trans women could be happy to be the person they are. For Mock to overlook that fact, to me is an injustice. Jenner isn't perfect, because she is human. For Mock to say that the trans community doesn't want "that" is for lack of a better word...silly. Because she doesn't speak for me as she apparently thinks she can.
@@NMYCORNER Agreed, while I disagree with Jenner’s politics, her very public transition did enable a visibility that was not seen before. Indeed, no one trans person, including Janet, can speak on behalf of all trans people, nor specifically, all trans women of color.
