The drawback of mixing greatcoat and habit veste uniforms is that, apart from times of scarcity, order of dress was a Corps-level decision on any given day. Where there was a danger of confusion - such as Hanoverians or Swiss versus British, the greatcoat might be ordered for just those soldiers.
Todor, I use the Foundry paint system for my Napoleonics. They are colour matched for the period. Alternatively, you can use whatever paints you have. You will just need a good dark blue for the French coats.
Great review!! , I would like to know if you have done an actual comparación between Victrix, Warlords, Perry Metal and Plastic, and if you haven't would you consider it. Cheers
Great looking figures. I would've preferred some of them to be headless though as opposed to physically having to cut them off. When heads are swapped can you tell the difference, is it a little messy?
Thanks for watching. I did a few head swaps and you definitely need a little green stuff to fix the join, however it isn't massively noticeable at range. Separate heads would have been nice, but honestly, not a deal breaker.
Not at all difficult Drake. The box is actually designed for head swaps. To that end the heads are easy to cut off using the collar as a guide. There are some "retreat from Russia" heads in the box as well as an alternative head for the officer. I think your idea sounds really good, you should do it. Although I don't know what kind of joins the Perry Austrian box has on its heads. Although, even if it is a ball joint it won't be hard to fit with a bit of cutting.
Victrix, yes. Victrix are a little bulkier but they fit. Couldn't say for Warlord, though I have seen people share mixed battalions of Perry and Warlord and they look good.
+David Brits (ZenMiniPainting) Ahh you mean Liquid Green Stuff as in a product name compared to just liquid green stuff . No wonder i couldnt work it out haha.Never seen it before

Thank you.

Hi Gary,
Thank you for watching and subscribing. I am hoping to upload some new videos soon.
All the best,
David
Beautiful figures and flags, well done, love the work on the coat!
Thank you.
ah thanks for this. I've just decided to start napoleonics amd was wondering about this kit. a very helpful review.
I think the extra drum goes with the extra arms on the middle figure so you can have a second drummer if you want
Or a Third drummer looking at it now
Im just starting out my first perry miniatures model, I've bought the French Colonels set. Any tips on what paints to use? etc.

Any recommended paint sets or pots for French Infantry and horses?

What do you mean by Dip? What do you dip them in?
Late reply, apologies. I dipped them in Army Painter quickshade varnish. The one that comes in a small tin.
Are they Victrix or warlord games compatible ? Thanks
Victrix, yes. Victrix are a little bulkier but they fit. Couldn't say for Warlord, though I have seen people share mixed battalions of Perry and Warlord and they look good.
Did you prime the sprue!?
Yes
If I wanted to change one of the heads, I assume I need to cut one off myself and attach the new one?
+Michael Crowe You are correct sir! A little bit of a fiddle, but with some liquid green stuff, or a really skilful cut, it doesn't look bad at all.
I've never done this successfully, I guess we just need to hope for the best :)
+David Brits (ZenMiniPainting) What product is this Liquid green stuff ? Myself does not know of this lol TYIA
+Rusty Gold Games Workshop sell liquid green stuff, that's what I use.
