One thing I've learned with the GT1000 is you DO NOT need to crank the level on the T-Scream to get the boost you want going into the high gain amps (this isn't the case on other modelers). You must adjust the SAG and RESO to achieve the sound you want on the high gain amps. It really makes a world of difference. The reverbs are awesome on this thing. Really nice being able to adjust the low/high pass on them. Also, IR Loader is super slow.
GT1000 has the best processor and lowest latency. New models only turns high Gain easier to reach, with less eq-working and gain chain. For me still the best unit.
What a nice surprise sd-1 is my favourite pedal, thanks for the demo, great to still get product support late in it's life cycle. Nice one Boss. Sounds killer if you use an fx send out to a small valve amp fx return and real cab.
@@far1es I got the one also and it is ideal for gigging. It’s so easy and you can’t really beat the sound off the captures. Minimal set up time and everything you would want at your feet with the GT.
If you've never actually used this unit, you can't appreciate what it is beyond what you're hearing on a RUclips video. Beyond the simplistic display is probably one of the best "feeling" modelers out there in terms of how it feels "under the hand". In the settings, you can adjust the "feel" sensitivity or response ,according to the pick-ups in your guitar. I also like that there isn't 9 million different amps and cabs so the unit relies on you to create your own tones using the quality amp bases.
Thank you for that important snippet. It sounds like BOSS should engage you to produce a couple of GT1000 videos. I am so tired of these METAL based reviews of equipment.
I own two of them. One as a backup. For me, It was not that easy to learn at first. I found it to have an exponential learning curve. However, once one gets their head wrapped around the entire system, any tone can be created that is pleasing to the ear. It took me about a year and a half to get my head wrapped around the system. It forced me to learn EQ. EQ is everything when it comes to superior tone. The GT1000 replaced my 80lb peddle board.
The GT-1000 doesn’t get enough credit. I have one. It really is very good. Certain UI stuff is clunky, like setting the outputs and IRs. But I actually prefer having everything laid out in one view. Zero latency patch switching is fantastic. And this unit is fantastic for running only effects with a real amp.
Buying the CORE today. Been wanting to add a multi effects/midi control to my Friedman IR-D And a select few stomp boxes. From a RUclips perspective, none of the other modelers have the organic qualities it has
Played through these amps a while last night. I think I’ll be using X-Ultra for my chunky rhythms and X-Optima for my main lead tone from now on. Really hoping we’ll see another 4.x update with some new reverbs or a dimension chorus.
I'd love you to compare FX from the Boss against Fractal and Helix. Everyone is so focused on the amp models, no one is comparing FX and that would be really helpful information. So for example, I play funk-metal and the Helix envelopes kinda suck, especially on bass. They just don't react well to the player or sound that good. I ended up buying a Source Audio Spectrum pedal, and the envelopes on that sound a million times better than anything the Helix does, and I've tried so hard to tweak the Helix envelopes. Nothing I do gets close to that pedal. From the very limited amount of videos online showing FX, I feel that the Boss FX could be substantially better than the Helix, would love to hear your thoughts and comparisons.
Hey been subscribed for a bit now. Noob yet. Like your style. Do you make tab for the riffs you come up with. You got lots of cool stuff going on in some of them, look forward to learning more. Especially the 40 amps 1 riff. That's a cool jam, I go back and listen to it from time to time cuz it's so catchy. 😁🤘
Help me - just one question , I need a good pedalboard for live gigs - this one or the ampero 2 stage ? - I need to go straight to the PA and I use a lot of effect for a 80’s tribute band -thankkkkksssssss!!!!!!!
you can use a noise gate with fx loop in the fx loop of the GT1000 Core. The order is: guitar -> noise gate in -> noise gate send -> gt core in -> gt core send -> noise gate return -> noise gate out -> gt core return. in gt core put the fx loop (in which you use the noise gate) just before the stereo effects possibly before reverb and delay blocks; but after the drive and preamp blocks. you can use boss ns series pedal, tc sentry or demon fx gstring clone pedal to clear out the unwanted noise. hope this helps!
Ive been using a GT 1000 Core for years. I actually "downgraded" to it coming from Fractal and Kemper. It just sounds and feels better for me. But I had totally given up on expecting an update with more amps etc.. WELL GUESS WHAT UNIT ALSO GOT AN UPDATE TODAY???? 😁
The problem with this guy's videos is that he could make a baked potato sound like an amazing amp. It all sounds too good, and now I can't decide on what to buy! Leaning towards Fender Tone Master though! Keep up the great work!
I tried one of these after being a Boss GT-100 user for about a decade. It was very noisy even on clean tones. I didn't like the way the amp models worked in the signal chain with cabs and IR's. Maybe there is a way to use 2 separate cabs on a dual amp chain, but I couldn't figure out how so it was not a fit for me. I didn't think the amps were very realistic sounding either and actually thought it was worse than the GT-100 despite being able to use IR's. To each their own.
Probably a faulty unit. I have been using the core for 2+ years in the context of 2 different bands (i play bass in one and guitar in another) No noise issues whatsoever. I do not even have the noise gate engaged in one of my metal distortion rhythm patches. It has to do with correct input gain for your instrument and also ensuring you are plugging in the power supply into a clean power outlet, and ofcourse check the electronics/wiring of your instrument.
@@adityabali1939I contacted Boss and they had me record sound samples and send them to demonstrate the noise. They said they heard nothing out of the ordinary. The clean tone was so noisy that it was louder than the actual signal from the guitar. I used a custom Carvin guitar that's very quiet. Tried wireless and cable, same results. Sweetwater charged me return shipping despite it being the unit's fault. No matter what I did, the noise was just impossible to make usable recording tones with. I was really disappointed because I had used the GT-100 for a decade without issue or noise.
It's actually very functional for live performance, buttons are programmable af, can change anything in a preset with 1 button, turn anything on and off and adjust any parameter or a signal path with one button. It's only available on high end stuff, not cheaper chinese modelers. Unless you just gonna play at home, you need that functionality
No question, it sounds good, really good. But i actually still prefer the time you reamped the same tracks thru your tonex capture of your Dual Rectifier (if I’m correct). That’s just a nod to how good your personal capture came out. ;)
I was thinking, please, could you make a comparison now with all the pedalboards such as the ax fx 3, qc, tone naster pro, ampero 2 stage, etc. but this time including the boss gt 1000? I think it would be interesting. PLEASE.
Too little, too late for me. Owned a Boss GX-100 for a year, no decent firmware/amp/effects updates whilst I had it so I sold it. Part of the appeal of digital is the updates and new additions and Boss seem to fall behind other companies.
I guess you are a bedroom tinkerer, and probably enjoying exploring sounds more than just writing music constantly for financial incentive. Nothing wrong with that, but most musicians who are constantly gigging on regular/tight schedules actually refrain from updating their units so frequently as some bugs might be introduced that might interfere with their performance, hampering their reputation as a musician and directly affecting their income. I have personally had this happen to me live when i used HX Stomp. Now I use GT1K core and cannot be happier. I trust my unit completely
You have the option to update the firmware though, it’s not something that automatically installs? If you’re happy with the current firmware then leave it as is. If your someone who likes updates and new features then you also have the option to update or not.
💯 well said. I sold my core q few months ago and am happyy with the stomp. Boss let me down too many times with their last pedals including the synth stuff

This is the reason for 4 eq blocks, I used two on each amp line, one for single coil and another for humbuckers
