I'm a big Stylistics fan, I'm 60 yrs young and their music/songs are timeless classics!!! Please react to "You're a Big Girl Now" and "Heavy Falling Out" by the Stylistics...

My 70s groups in order are the 1)Isley Brothers, 2) Ohio Players, 3) Stylistics, 4) Earth Wind & Fire, but they are all super groups. Every Stylistic fan must also listen to "You Make Me Feel Brand New", "Rockin Roll Baby", "You're a Big Girl Now". You've already covered my very favorites "People Make the World Go Round" and "Betcha By Golly Wow".

Very solid pick( and the right one) of Earth Wind Fire being # 1( they are definitely the best ) but there are so, so many great groups, like the Stylistics , who made great music over the years ( especially those late 60s, 70s and some 80s years)

Here is some food for thought when you're comparing Musical Groups, please make the distinction between "Singing Groups" and "Bands." Singing Groups for the most part perform & sing standing/dancing out in front with a band playing the music for them in the background (i.e. The Stylistics, The Temptations, The Spinners, The Manhattans, The Four Tops, etc.). On the other hand, Bands do it all, they perform singing & dancing but at the same time they play their own musical instruments (i.e. Earth, Wind & Fire, Kool & The Gang, The Isley Brothers, Tower of Power, Chicago, The Ohio Players, etc., etc.). Don't get me wrong, both are good, but most musicians will tell you that it takes a higher level of concentration for a Band to perform because they have to not only sing & move around on stage, but they have to play their instruments "on-point" as well...Therefore, in my opinion, they should be viewed & compared as such in their own lane or category...

I was working in a record store when Round 2 (their 2nd and probably best album) was released and this album sold copy after copy. This album was almost a (rare) complete album. Nearly every song is a homer or a triple play.

I would say it's head voice falsetto is airy his voice has no air; he hits female soprano which is counter-tenor not falsetto

Hello JJ, I know that you've done a couple of the Stylistics, this one along with "You Make Me Feel Brand New" & "Betcha By Golly Wow" are arguably their biggest hits! My personal favorite is "Hurry Up This Way Again" which you've already reacted too. Also, U had previously reacted to TTT Anniversary and P-Funk Knee Deep, I don't know if U checked the extended on these yet, but the guitar riffs on "Knee Deep" 15:00 version is a must for someone who enjoys instruments like yourself, and I know that so far "Anniversary" is one of, if not your favorite Tony! Toni! Toné! song, the 9:00 version is a beast! must check these two songs out in your free time, if U haven't already done so. Peace!

The secret to the group was the music and the arrangements. The songwriters were Thom Bell and Linda Creed. Tom Bell was Jamaican and loved Classical music. Linda Creed was an American white woman who loved R&B. They combined their two musical loves and VIOLA!

When Thomas Randolf Bell passed away the end of last year. His family member said he was not born in Jamaica, but in Philly. His Maternal Grandfather was born in Jamaica, and came through the U.S. via Panama. His parents were born in Delaware and Virginia. All his siblings were too. They included a copy of the 1950 family census, which you could find in public record. I knew Thom was lying about being born in Jamaica when he said he used to see Bob Marley as a kid. I don't think Tommy started driving a car until he moved to Washington state.

Not off topic at all bruh. That Martin named episodes after hit 70’s music, reinforces the reality of how the music was like a tapestry or backdrop to our lives. You know how songs can trigger memories. Real talk. Yeah Russell Tompkins my fav male soprano or falsetto, then Phillip Bailey of EWF. More Stylistics: You Are Everything; Betcha By Golly Wow; Stop Look Listen. I think you’ve already heard Poeple Make the World & You Make Me Feel Brand New. Other groups with falsetto & similar sound: Delfonica -Didn’t I Blow Your Mind; Bloodstone -Natural High; Blue Magic - Side Show (you definitely want to check out that one), & Life is a Three Ring Circus.
