This whole album is a masterpiece, proving why he’s one of the best songwriters out there.
A new Isbell masterpiece.
He doesn't miss. Most of his songs will be classics to me. King of Oklahoma is my favorite on the new album.
This song is so good it got me re listening to his whole discography
Fantastic musician/songwriter showing simplicity is usually the best route. Love all his work. Huge inspiration.
They're all masterpieces, apparently. Townes would have loved him.
One of our greatest songwriters. Who is also a phenomenal guitarist, and his voice ain't too shabby either.
What a beautiful song and voice….. I’m in love with his voice and his storytelling….. ❤️🎼
Jason Isbell is a super talent and I’m proud to say I’ve been a fan for a couple decades! 👏👏
The second half of the song is heavy. Another great Isbell song.
1st and 2nd half are pretty brutal
An incredible piece of songwriting. Loved it when I recently saw him sing this live but this simple acoustic version is even better.
I have seen him twice. Recently two weeks ago. His live performances are better than the recordings.
Amazing. I have seen him several times and he is such a great artist.
Jason is special , the amount of unbelievable music he has made, amazing, he is up there with the John prine etc etc already ❤
I heard this guy's name mentioned in "Mr. Tillman" which is a terrible song by Father John Misty, but I looked him up just now and this is the first track that came up and it's beautiful. It's heartbreaking and sad without being overly poetic or gloomy, and it has the practical tragedy of a country song. It's just perfect. Score another one for serendipity!
Respectfully--love "Mr. Tillman," though needless to say it's doing something very different than this gorgeous Isbell track.
You’ve got some catching up to do. Check out his record Southeastern for a start. Though they are all good.
Just a brilliant singer, songwriter and guitarist….Jason is such a gem ❤
Thanks for posting the whole song on youtube - we got cut off on the broadcast!
I love this song so much.
Brilliant song ⛅️
There just aren't enough superlatives for his songwriting genius.
I love his music and his lyrics; he’s so talented!
I love him so.
his vocal performance is even better than the record. As great a songwriter as he is and guitar player, he is one MF of a great singer.
Damn, i saw him w the truckers in myrtle beach soo many times. Now hes on CBS ❤
Sooo beautiful ♥️
Beautiful
Paul Simon’s Musical Son for real…the choice of storytelling is very similar…the drift of it…by the way I was working on an oil rig a few months back and the company man said this to me ‘ Don’t wash my Cast Iron Skillet’😅😅😅 A new thing for a black African boy from New York
There are schools of thought on this subject. 😊
He said at the Ann Arbor folk festival in 2018 about advice he gives to young people, "Listen to Gordon Lightfoot."
@@mvwoondef listen Lightfoot. One of Canadians best. Sills is another. Listen to Conor Oberst, Elliott Smith, John Moreland. All great.
Wow. This was so beautiful.
Jason is very talented period. Saw him perform in nashville once. Great show
😊
Punishing truths.
I find it pretty ironic that the people Isbell rails against are the same ones he is working for
Isn't that the recent history of all great musicians? The real meaning behind Billy Squier 'Stroke Me,' Nirvana 'Smells Like Teen Spirit,' and Gillian Welch 'Everything is Free.'
What do you mean? A lot of his songs are deeper than first glance I.E. “Something More Than Free” “Last of My Kind” are kinda tongue ‘n cheek.
