I'm not 100% sure but I think if you order the basic ring grip now you're getting the aluminum version and not the carbon fibre version like I did. I think I got lucky here!

Can’t believe it took this long for someone to come out with a great gimbal setup. I always loved the ronin m dual handle setup better than my ronin s. Definitely gonna order the ring setup, but I think I’ll go for the advanced one. Thanks for sharing Damien!

Smallrig actually made a dual handle setup for the Ronin RS2, which is a good budget solution. Obviously, the Tilta ring is better.
The only downside to me, comapred to original dual handle system, is we cant go “near ground” angle. But i think we can use some trick like using longer lenses. I hope dji produce cheaper dual handle gimbal again

was looking forward to this video from you. great to hear its all good! I actually have the dual grip and the ring on order because I wasn't sure which I would like better. Do you see a case where you would use them in different scenarios or do you think the ring is sufficient in all cases?
Great review man. This made me buy the ring! In the meantime they also have the Basic Plus Variant which comes with only the right remote (trigger and mode button) at about 500€, which I find very fair! I can't wait to get my hand on this one, I've been wanting a ring-grip ever since I bought my first DJI gimbal a few years back!
You should try the Letus Helix Jr/Standard. It operates like this, but is better balanced because the whole rig is optically centered with the camera.

Thanks for this! I'd love to know how you're triggering the C300iii. Manually on the body? Or are you setting the handgrip via arrive rosette + nato rail on the right grip, connected by LANC to the body?
I have the Tilta Dual Handle Power Supply bracket, its super travel friendly and is similar to gripping a ring. But I do miss a full ring setup like my old Ronin-M circle grip.

Do you know if the stabilization provided by the Sony A&sii including the IBIS and Active Stabilization is additive to the stabilization provided by gimbals like the DJI RSC2 or RS2 ? Thank you.

Thanks for the review :) quick advice though regarding the red zip ties you are using for holding the gimble get rid of it asap :D before it's too late :") I did this and I got my Gimble scratches all over the place , I use elastic bungee cords and it help a lot :)
oh really? I never had any issues. But I scratch the gimbal all the time anyway when I need to quickly get something out of the bag. It's an item to make me money, not to look good anyway. But thanks for the advice :)

Ok, thanks for the video and your insights! I have RS2 and I mounted a Sennheiser MKE400 on top of the EOS R and the gimbal has trouble balancing at times and the engines stutter a bit. Is that how is...? And therefore the solution is a ring mounted RS2 that can work free from top heavy installations likes mic on top of the camera?
I want to be able to have a mic on the gimbal as sometimes it’s not always possible to have an audio guy/girl at hand.

Hey Monkeypixels I just get the Basic Ring, my question is if you figure it out about the power, for example when you connect the Ronin battery as HANDLE the power start running thru the FULL RING, there is no way to use the power just when you turn on the camera right??, so the battery is sharing the power even if there is no gimbal attached. I figure it out when I leave the ring setup for 2 days with full battery and sudden the battery was completely dead..
Yes. Unfortunately it seems to be draining the battery. 😒

Man, finally. Think I’m finally going to take the plunge on the RS2 for my c300iii. I’ve been flying it on the crane 3s just because I wasn’t sure if the ring was ever gonna ship 😂
But now that it’s out there I’m pumped to go back to a ring setup. I’ve missed that format since getting rid of my Ronin MX with the ring.

@@damiencooper Yeah, that's what I'm looking for. I honestly love the horsepower that they packed into the crane, but damn if that thing is unwieldy as all heck haha. Plus I just miss the two handed setup. The Ronin MX was a terrible gimbal, but I loved the method of operation. The Crane is the opposite, great gimbal, horrible way to operate a bigger rig with a one handed gimbal. I'm excited that the RS2/ting combo marries those two great options together

Überlege das gleiche Setup für die C200 mit cage (wiegt alles ca 4.5 kg). Die Kamera passt wegen der Höhe ca 195mm nicht in einen Ronin 2 oder Movi pro Käfig. Dachte daher vielleicht an die variante. Meinst du man bekommt die austariert und hat genug spiel (vielleicht mit counterweights) ?War mit dem Crane 3s und der Stabilität in den dünnen Ringen nicht zufrieden. alles zu wackelig gewesen bei dem Kamera gewicht. Das Rs2 mit Tilta Ring sieht deutlich stabiler aus ? Grüße
Glaube nicht, dass die C200 mit Cage drauf passt. Mit EVF auf jeden Fall nicht
@@damiencooper schade dass die keinen Ähnlichen Arm wie beim crane 3s anbieten. Das ist perfekt für große Kameras aber der Ring von Smallrig war einfach zu schmal gebaut. bei schnellen Bewegungen wackelte das ganze Konstrukt. denke ist beim Digitalphoto nicht besser. Beides so25mm Ringe mit einer Mini Aufnahme unten.

Really does suck you can't get the Carbon fiber version as a basic model as you did - Bad marketing on Tilta & cutting their overheads as people getting the Aluminium & pissed - $800USD is just overpriced for the Advanced version when you don't need the handles. Nice vid though.

This product is garbage…. Everyone is experiencing Alotta shake on each footstep …. The base should be hanging like all the pro gimbals.. movi , ronin 2 and even the ronin m…. Being below it amplifies each step. In addition, carbon fiber is terrible at damping and also contributes to serious micro jitters… it is no better than the Fieyu tech 4500…. Garbage… save your money and my the real deal.. I own the ronin 2 and ronin m, night and day difference…. True talk… this jus looks pretty lmao

What law of physics are you applying to come to the conclusion that there is somehow more jitter with it mounted on the bottom than the top? The point of contact (hands) is on the middle - and basic laws of gravity apply the same whether it’s standing or hanging?!
