Yes, Kofi! This is what I was looking for in my Sony FX6 since I haven't been using any gimbal systems yet for my setup. I was using Sony Catalyst Browse to help stabilize my shots.
I am finding your content quite helpful. I am going to shoot my first wedding (solo) and I have no idea how I'm going to stabilize. I am getting an old school fly cam today to see if we can get the fx6 on it but I'm not hopeful. I also don't have a massive budget so I have to get the essentials (storage, batteries, etc) thanks for these tips.
Amazing video fam, you're making me want to make the switch over because the form factor is so sleek, and I love the power options! Great video, love the attention to detail you put into all your videos!
@@KofiYeboah Oh good. could you someday make a video and show how you balance the camera on the gimbal in the basic ring? I have the basic rig but every time I balance and walk (ninja walk) the gimbal turns to the right and left which makes my plans shaky at the end. Do you have a solution for this? I thank you in advance.
Great video. I have a similar setup and I wasn’t able to find any literature anywhere to confirm that I could attach the handle and a V mount at the same time. Didn’t want to fry anything. But thanks to your video it looks like you can! Also I wasn’t sure about the power module due to so many people online saying they fried their gimbals but I believe they were attaching D Taps backwards on the output. To you use the Dtap out on the power module? I have both an FX3 and an FX6 and this setup is great for both cameras.
I was okay with the handle and v mount after shooting for a bout 3 shoots so far , so good! The new basic ring plus might have fixed it but I’m not sure, and I used the usb c, since the d tap is so close to what I have on it I’ll just plug direct to battery when I can 👍🏾
Great video but didn’t understand why and how you were using the raven eye ? Was someone else holding the phone to control the camera movements? Have you used lidar with this setup as well?
I got the lidar system some months later, and yes you can use force motion with a phone and raven eye ! Whcih helps when yuo want exact movements without sacraficing body position ex. low angle push in wiith a pan up, I'd rather have someone on raveneye controling the gimbal motion
Hey man! Are you still using the ring grip with dji focus system? How do you find it it so? Considering the ring, but afraid I can't control the lidar focus using it
Did you figure out a way to turn the control handle off for the basic ring grip w/ the control handle? No power button on the handle like the advanced ring grip so it seems like its going to slowly drain the battery so long as its hooked up…
I haven’t ! Then again I’ve left it on for like a week and it didn’t take out the battery so I’m guessing it’s a thing where they didn’t think it’s important
This is great. I actually built a cheap steadycam rig for the FX6, but haven't been really using it :-/ This kinda thing might be more practical. I love how you call it an iPhone mount haha. With my RS2 I got a Samsung mount. I think they look the same :) Oh, and have you tried using a Smallrig handgrip or a dual handgrip? Ergonomically it makes it similar to this.
You just shoot with AF on this system? I noticed you don't have a focus puller on the handle. Or is the Mars to your AC accurate enough to pull focus with?
can i start recording from the fx6 when i press the record button on the ring grip? if so, how does this work and how do i have to connect the fx6 to the ring grip?
I just bought the FX6 so that I can keep the fx3 as the gimbal workhorse. I love my tilta ring grip!
I have a newfound love for gimbals haha
@Kofi Yeboah let me know if you ever need help. Local to Scarborough here
@@racemode Oh for real? im close to downtown! dope!
Maaaaan! I'm building a similar setup with the SmallRig Ring but you've convinced me to invest in the Tilta! Great video bro!!!
Blessings !!🙏🏾🙏🏾
@@KofiYeboah The tilta Ring reigns king! any other set up I've built just doesn't compare.

Absolutely! You're Welcome
Thats a very good setup. Absolute dream.
It’s so nice to work on !
Really loving the set up and how you use the ninja as an hdmi splitter. I would love to see how you mount and wireless follow focus onto the system
When I get another dzo rental for sure !
@@KofiYeboah The dzos are so nice! definitely Looking forward to it

Thank you man ! I appreciate it 🥰
So well done. Thanks
Thank you!!
I was hoping to see a solution for starting/stopping recording on the FX6 from the Ring.
O gotta get the right cable see if I can get it goin !
great video and gear man!! thanks for sharing!
Most welcome !
Time to get a tilta armor man.
Great seeing you at NAB my man, I'm curious how youre connecting your fx6 to the gimbal for remote control run stop
You’d have to get the other remote !
Which remote is that?
great video. but do you equilibrate the gimbal on the basic ring ?
Yup!

I struggle with FPV mode sometimes when using a heavier lens setup. I feel like using FPV mode would be easier using the ring grip.
I gotta try that out !
Hello, friend of Kofi here, as someone who absolutely adores FPV mode, having a ring makes things so much easier and smoother!
Great video! Looks like it can make things a lot easier for video creators 👏
Haha thanks 🙏🏾🙂🙂
amazing video!

Hey quick question, what are the HDMI cable lengths? The one that goes from monitor to camera specifically
I THINK 1.5 ft? I use a coiled Kondor blue one now
Awesome video Kofi! I can't stand balancing and setting up a gimbal
I find it way way easier here
nice work! thank you!
No problem!

Yo! Informative video ! Can the ring mounted joystick be progrmaed to control the roll axis ?
Yeah should be ✌🏾
Hey man! Are you still using the ring grip with dji focus system? How do you find it it so? Considering the ring, but afraid I can't control the lidar focus using it
I do from time to time, very handy especially for easy to mount accessories
How is the VMount put to charge the camera??
Sick vid! How do you go with the balance? I struggle to get my FX6 on my Rs2 even with an extended plate and stripped back to just the monitor.
I stripped it all the way down and I think I put my plate a little forward so when I balance , there’s room for the battery 🙏🏾
Did you find a work around to hit record through the gimbal itself? I am have issues with the control cable. Any help is appreciated!
I think there’s a seperate remote handle which I don’t have ! 😅

What if your using Xeen lens PL mount?
Might be too heavy but I’d consider counter weights
How do you connect the raveneye with the fx6?
My ninja V has hdmi in/out so I connect through the ninja 👍🏾

I havent yet ! I might one day
I use the small rig dual grip but I will be converting to this setup for the convenient power setup and better positioning for my atomos
You just shoot with AF on this system? I noticed you don't have a focus puller on the handle. Or is the Mars to your AC accurate enough to pull focus with?
In these BTS shots I was just by myself so I used AF!
Are You able to control the start / Stop rec on the fx6 from the gimbal handles?
In theory, I have to find my cable because I can’t 😅
@@KofiYeboah oh, what cable is this?
@@rMr.big13 you need a cable to control the camera to the gimbal, honestly I haven’t figured which one I need, but I’ll keep updated !

where I can find that bag for the ring and gimball?!
