I have to say that for my first edition of Lectio Musica, I have been "destabilized". Completely not what I expected. I will dig into this repertoire one day, I am totally convinced of that.

This is when the angels must come for the demon. Who is usually masquerading as a "sparkling angel". You're right. The song is so personal and so emotional and about inner self. The video projects that onto the archetypes of religion. The lyrics acknowledge regret for the lost humanity of the narcissist but the video shows this is only the innate empathy of the angel. And it isn't going to lead to mercy.

To search for more Within Temptation, they have DVD's of five different tours, and I think they are better live, so look for them. Heavier songs are "Enter", "The Other Side of Me", "Our Solemn Hour" and "The Heart of Everything"

@@GuylainPrince I love the song "Stairway to the Skies". To me it is a very powerfully emotional song, however the lyrical content may be fairly straight forward with very little to decipher. The live performance from the Elements tour was beautifully done with a full orchestra. Sharon has a wonderful voice and is such and emotional and entrancing performer to watch.

I know EXACTLY what you talk about. When we meet the person, he/she can look so nice and perfect; and then, sometings change. Radically! We have to make another choice!

I agree with what you say. There is a huge disconnect between the song and the video. The director clearly didn't take the song into consideration when he or she made the framing for the video.
I would have preferred it if they stuck with the story the song is telling.
Also, I think the angels she's leading to his door might be the angels of justice, the police. So that they will apprehend him and serve a punishment. Either that or she's going there to kill him and believes she has support from the heavens to do so.

good comment, a long time ago I love this song and I realized that I was talking about a perverse narcicist. I also understand the emotión of lyrics because i have had relationships with narcicists.
The words are quite clear, to me anyway. Glad you enjoyed.
I don't think the video matched the original intent of the song, but I think they decided to try something different when it came time to the video. This is a very poppy song for them; their earlier stuff is more gothic symphonic. A possible subtext for the words is that Sharon and her partner Robert have had a rocky relationship over the years, with a couple of times that they physically separated, despite having kids, although at this time there was no indication of that. Sharon is a very strong-willed woman

I think you should a analyze "What About Us" by Whithin Temptation featuring Tarja Torunen, a former singer of Nightwish.

in my opinion the song is more about loverboys and young gangsters seducing and using young women for their purpose, narcism off course, the videodirector apparently took advantage of the title (Angels) and used litterally this word in his composition, the last seconds of the video however suggest a succesfull undercover-operation as a reference to the orignal intention/story/meaning

I am stunned fellow Nightwish fan, It is a given that The Netherlands have some awesome (symphonic) metalbands who are close with the metal scene in Finland. Marko Hieltala the basist from Nightwish for example is the "unnofficial bandmember" for the dutch Metalband Delain. The band Delain has a one song that harbours a gruwsome real story. The song is called "We Are The Others" it's about the sensless murder of a young girl in England called Sophie Lancaster 👀

Thanks for the encouragement.. In the presentation of this series, I explain what is my intention. There are subtitles. Comments I have from this video (and other demos) are that I am pretty much the only one analyzing deeply the meaning of the words BEFORE listening for the first time the song. For now, every single video I made in that series (3) has been blocked by YT. Still waiting for the 'unblocking' process to be complete for the 3 others. OK... interpretation of this video can often take a viewer 10 to 20 views over time with contemplation in between... SURE, Good v. Evil as overarching theme, but specific to SERIAL KILLERS who make young vulnerable women as their target for lust or blood lust... probably for a psychopathic filled childhood passed onto him... or demonic possession or whatever makes serial killers do as such.. TO ME, the band members represent avenging angels here on Earth who can be in physical form... the White flying angels are his past victims swarming now about his garden of death he nurtures with his demonic sickness which has embodied him, which shows when he transforms and is obliterated.
Since they all ride off together, seemingly with SHARON character still alive, one must ponder two possibilities for that.. Either she was a true victim, near death ready for live burial by the evil one,, and then rescued by the avenging angels in the nick of time, or, more probably, SHE always was one of the avenging angels, she was on a mission as the bait, he acted as proof for judgment, and all along she was in on the vengence to rid this evil beast from the realm of Earth, and they then , all together rose against him, with the dead victim angels flying about as a reminder of his evil transgressions in front of his eyes and distracting him from his focused evil ways, so that the avenging angels, including Sharon the bait, would eradicate him in the name and witness by all of the souls of his past victims... VENGENCE is THEIRS... facilitated by the avenging angels (vigilantes) who then move on to the next "job"................The photo shoot thing prior to riding off? Securing the EVIDENCE???

Within temptation are absolutely "not nightwish" but I really like the very high and angelic voice of the singer and some of their songs really had a big impact in my life. Ha ha ha ! On my first reaction video, I was so "surprised". I expected something very "heavy", and here I was, reacting to a very "religious" video and a "rock/pop" song. NOT AT ALL what I expected. I did my best "on the spot!
